I love the thrill of a new project and a new book, so I am blessed this week I have both. I have finished the granny squares for the cushion they need stitching/crocheting together and finishing off. I have started another cushion using the yarn I managed to buy off a car boot sale at a bargain price.
I love the colours, I am just not a fan of acrylic but I do think it would be ideal for when the children are around as it washes so well.
I have just started to read About Grace by Anthony Doerr so I haven't formed an opinion yet. The reviews are quite good so I am looking forward to putting my feet up and getting started.
Two new things, a new project and a new novel, that should keep me going for a couple of days.
Once again joining gsheller.com/2014/09/yarn-along-195 Ginny over at Small Things for the yarn along. Looking forward to seeing what is on your needles/hook.
See you soon.
I like the colors in your cushion cover. I agree that acrylic yarn is great for things children will be using.
ReplyDeleteYour new crochet project looks interesting and I love the colours.

I use it for knitting hats for sailors - wool is nicer but I think the acrylic may be more resiliant to a hard life!
ReplyDeletethe start of something new is more exciting than the finishing...guess that makes me a real process person! enjoy the journey....both reading and crafting!
ReplyDeleteI like acrylic for crochet items that are flung around often. I love proper wool for knitting though.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours and it looks like a decent acrylic, I think they are a lot better than what they were. X
ReplyDeleteI love starting new projects and wish I were as good at wrapping them up! Funny you found your yarn in someone's car trunk... :) Happy knitting and reading!
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing...acrylic is easy and there is something good to say about that- you don't have to worry about the washing part. The dreary weather doesn't sound fun- it's finding it's way to Montana too....enjoy your book :)
ReplyDeleteYay for a new project and book! Those are always the best weeks for me :-) I have to agree about the acrylic, but I turn to it often because it is easy. I am going to have to look into that book, I haven't heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteLovely new crochet make-I agree on the washability with the little ones, so much easier and more relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHope your new book is a good read.

For some projet acrylic is easier for washing. But I do prefer using wool. My knitted or hooked clothes are made with wool only. Have fin with these Nice projets ! Have a Nice day.
ReplyDeletehow lovely! I often use acrylic as I am knitting for kids ... :)
ReplyDeleteWe are brimming with sunshine, I'll send you some!! Lovely new project that you've started and it looks like you've made lots of progress!!
ReplyDeleteAhhh....cooler and showers sound wonderful. It's blazing hot here still. I have the same problem with bird photos....they usually disappear before I can get their picture or they're too far for my lense to get a good shot. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteAh, a good book and a crochet project. Sounds perfect. Here, in the northeast section of the US we've had beautiful sunny days and cool nights. i'm plan to enjoy every bit of it before winter comes.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to start something new and having two of them is a double delight. Hope ou have a great week. Thanks for your visits to my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm starting a cushion too !!! In beige and light braun.

The colors look so soft and lovely together - great choice!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday to you :)
Love your color choice! I do use quite a bit of acrylic yarn for my crafts that require durability... Your book choice looks like a good read.
