Indoor Autumn Preperation

I have been really good with preparations indoors this year and have started ticking off the list already.  I must exercise some self discipline and finish the outside jobs.  I went shopping this morning and ticked off two things on the list, a kindling bucket and candles.  A more distinct Autumn smell and colour was needed.  The kindling has already been sourced and stored.

I need to make an appointment to get the boiler serviced, it has a full service history so it would be a shame to let that go.

The quilts on the beds need to be changed from summer weight to a heavier tog and  then as the season gets cooler the sheets changing to flannelette from cotton.  I have already added blankets/throws to the end of the beds to use as and when.

Summer hats need to be stored away and replaced with cold weather hat/scarves/gloves.  I already have the perfect place to store them so that should be an easy job.
Some of the throws on sofas/chairs need to be changed or added to give a more Autumnal feel and to use to wrap napping children.
Some new floral arrangements need to be made to replace some of the summer offerings.
The biggest job of all is to sort out the wardrobes, changing the seasonal clothing over and getting rid of clothes that I no longer wear.  The hardest job of all is to sort out the shoes, I am a great fan of the summer flip flop and sandal.

A couple of hours making a few Autumn décor alterations and I should be done.  I wish I could say the same about the outside.  How are your preparations coming along?

See you soon.

  1. Oh I love flannelette sheets, I bought a skirt last week, a work one which is made out of flannelette and it feels divine! Apart from sorting the garden out and making chutney type stuff there isn't a lot else I do for autumn. I always have blankets scattered around, then again gin & tonic is a drink for summer so there is far less of that & more tea!

  3. You're so organised!! Shoe swapping would have been good for us at the beginning of the summer as we have cascading piles of them for lots of very large feet! Catherine Xx

  4. I'm starting to get that nesting feeling as well. Put the autumn wreath on the front door yesterday and just picked lots of veggies from the garden before they are ruined by the cooler nights. We're hoping to be in a house with a fireplace next year. One of my must haves for our new home!! : ) Have a beautiful weekend!!!! xoxo

  7. Wow, a lot of preparations go into winter. Here in Florida it almost isn't any change. Not until December. Although some are predicting a cold winter. Only time will tell.

  8. My, you are organised! I wish I was, too. I have been thinking for days that I need to get my crochet blanket out for the bed - usually when I am in bed, shivering with the cold. Cx
