Charity Shop Finds

I love this time of year when little signs of Spring are starting to appear.  Little teasers that give the hint that Spring is around the corner and that we have so much to look forward to.  One of the very first signs are the sudden appearance of daffodils in the supermarket.  Who can resist buying a bunch?I know I can't.  £1 and it gives so much pleasure, they are a little ray of sunshine.  February already where did January go?

The little hint of colour that I was looking for.  These daffodils picked me and made my day.  Little things...

I had a huge success at the charity shop too this week.  I had thought I would have a go at knitting a few hats this year for little gifts and was delighted to come across this pattern book.  There are 100 patterns so I am sure I will find something to suit every personality.  It looks such fun and a bargain at 30p.

I haven't done much knitting for awhile so time to get those knitting needles out and have a go.

There was also a felted bags book which I found quite intriguing and at 30p was another bargain buy.  I have had a quick browse and have found several that I would like to try.  They are originally knitted and then felted by using the washing machine.  I thought I might have a go with something small, maybe a glasses case to start.

I love the old vintage patterns so it was a delight to come across some crochet lace doily patterns.  I like to make a few now and again and change some around that I have in the cottage.

20p each so a real bargain.

£1 bought me 2 balls of DK cotton.

Finally 400g of Aran wool for £4, another great bargain.  I have a project in mind but I need to locate a pattern.

It was a fun trip and I was rewarded with some great finds.

See you soon.

  1. Here in Carmarthenshire we have the first Daffodils flowering and crocuses coming into bloom too. A mild (but VERY wet) winter may give us an early spring.

Great charity shop finds, especially the hat book just when you are looking for one, AND some yarn too.

I bet you will soon get cracking with the hats.

    2. iI’m lauriel from New York, United States. I lost my job a few months back after my divorce with my wife. I tried everything positive to make sure I took good care of my kids but all failed, and I was in debt which makes everything worse. I was kicked out of my home and i had to live with my neighbor after pleading with her to allow me to stay with her for some days while I figured out how to get a home which she agreed to, but no one was willing to help anymore. I bumped into this page from google and I was excited about this, then I contacted the hackersBill Dean. I had just $200, so I pleaded with them to help me because of my condition but they never accepted. I believed in this, so I managed to pawn a few things and got $500. I ordered the $10,000 card and I got my card delivered to me by Ups 4 days later. I never believed my eyes! I was excited and upset as well, I managed to withdraw $2000 on the ATM and $2500 the second day. I went to Walmart and a grocery store and bought a couple of things for $3000. The card got blocked the third day and I contacted them and I was told it's a mistake from my end. I’m so happy, I have started all over again and have a good apartment with my kids you can contact him through is via email (globalatmcardhackingservice@gmail.com)or his whatsap contact (+1 301-887-5071)

  2. Some great bargains, and things which will keep you busy. I can't resist daffodils at this time of year, so cheap and cheerful, they really brighten up my day.

  5. It will be a long time before there are any signs of spring here. I think I am going to treat myself to some flowers this week just to cheer me up and bring some colour back to the house. Everything seems so grey and dull at this time of year.

Great finds at the charity shop. Those look like some nice books.

  6. I don't see daffodils in my near future - not even in the store. They're my favorites.

Love those lovely yarns you found. I think you have a much better selection than we have in the states. Maybe because you do more handwork than we do? I can knit and purl, but it comes out all wonky because I can't get the tension right.

Here's hoping for an early spring for both of us.

  7. Lots of good crafting tools. Enjoy. Here, where I live they have the Hyacynth's oh what a fragrance they have...spring is beautiful.

  18. What great bargains! I knit a phone case for my purse then felted it and I just love it. Funny thing though — it shrunk more in length than width so it isn’t an exact fit.

  19. The thrift store book of 100 patterns for hats to choose from will surely give you lots of gifts to knit!!
I haven't seen any daffs in the store yet but I did see ( and buy) Hyacinths and a Primrose to brighten my home.

  24. You found some interesting pattern bargains and some pretty bargain yarn, too. I was so tempted to get some tulips at the grocers the other day because of our long string of rainy gray days. I enjoyed seeing your sunny daffodils! xx

  25. Your charity shop bargains are wonderful. I especially like the doily patterns. I would like to find some new patterns myself but I never find those while searching the shops around our home.
The daffodils are such a beautiful sunshine yellow. I received some beautiful purple flowers from Jenny for my birthday. Maybe I should get some daffodils to join them. :-)
Much love to you and Gerard.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  47. ooooh, Lorraine! You like the same sort of opshop finds as I do! If you ever get sick of the 100 hats book, I know someone who could make good use of it ;-) hehehe It looks fabulous and will keep you busy through the storms.

The vintage/heirloom pattern books are very hard to find in Australia right now. I used to see them often but in the past 5 years, I haven't seen any.

It's so great that you had such luck with your shopping. I am looking forward to your makes from them.

    Have fun!
