2015 Goals

2014 was a wonderful year with some delightful family events, it is a year that I will look back on with great fondness.  Although busy it was really rewarding, the only spanner in the works was being ill.

So for 2015:  I intend to look after myself better and take time to ensure that I am healthy so I am able to care for loved ones.

I have made a promise to myself that I will not buy any more fabric until I have used some of the masses of fabric hoarded away.

I am determined this year to make some progress with spinning.  I have a beautiful antique spinning wheel that is crying out to be used.  This is the year that the treadle will turn again.
My husband bought me a wonderful collection of old lace bobbins, so to that end I would love to be able to use them and make lace.  Another wonderful craft that is rarely seen it would be nice to find somewhere to learn.

I also intend to grow more in the garden and to cut down on the food shopping.  I have looked at some wonderful frugal living blogs that are quite inspirational so that shouldn't be too much of a challenge, but time will tell.

Finally, I am looking forward to spending quality time with family encompassing some of the amazing plans we have in place.  Have you decided on your goals yet?

See you soon.

  1. OOoohh I would love to have a go on the spinning wheel, I think I read Rumpelstiltskin too many times as a child. Our health is our main focus this year as well so let's support each other xx

  2. They sound like great plans for 2015. My step mum spins and weaves (and has made lace in the past). One day I want to learn to spin, but I know it's time consuming. But the idea of taking a fleece and turning in to a blanket or jumper must be so rewarding. She dyes the fleeces too! Have fun. x

  5. Do you really think you will stick to that promise of not buying more fabric!!! - that sounds like a difficult one!
When we were on holiday in Puy La Dome, France, there was this village where it seemed like everyone was sat on their doorstep, day in day out, making lace.
    Happy New Year to you

  14. Your 2015 goals are wonderful, please pass on any tips veg plot wise as it usually results in some failure in my garden, not that it deters me-just a tad frustrating.
I think a big blog bartering system would be fabulous if we didn't live so very globally, all our collective wool and fabrics! but the more sensible option, I agree, is to use it and perhaps our global imagination will provide some answers-hoping so.
Have fun with your gorgeous spinning wheel.

  20. Your spinning wheel looks really similar to mine - is it an Ashford Traditional by any chance? Those lace bobbins look amazing! I went to a craft fair last summer and saw some women making lace. I would have loved to stop and chat with them, but had the three boys with me and it was in a busy antique centre with lots of fragile-looking antique glasswear just in reach of boy #3's grabby little fingers so couldn't stop, lol!

Looking forward also to reading about your sewing and gardening adventures this year! x

    1. In all honesty I do not know the make of the spinning wheel and as far as I can see there are no markings. However looking at pictures on the internet it does look like an Ashford Traditional.

  21. Spinning and making bobbin lace sound wonderful; great to revive lost arts! I am trying to do more things this year; I've realized my online time is cutting too deep into my time, and have to be more disciplined if I want to be creative in other areas.
Best wishes for accomplishing your goals, and Happy New Year!
