Covid Restrictions Change Again

My goodness I am watching the BBC channel news as the terrible news is breaking about the rise in Covid cases and the new variant that has evolved.  There has been an alarming spread and as such the relaxation of Christmas rules have now been scrapped.  A stay at home order has been issued for all those in Tier 4.  There will only now be a one day mixing allowed in Tiers 1 to 3.  All the Christmas plans have now had to be scrapped.  My heart goes out to all those affected.  We now await the announcement from the First Minister in Scotland to see what will be happening here.

Thankfully we had no real plans but I do feel for my dear parents who were expecting my brother and sister to call in.  Two of our daughters were getting together for a few hours and now that has got to be scrapped.  So many changes in such a short time.  Lets hope the sacrifices that will have to be made will help.  Hopefully business's will survive this next round of closures and shutdowns.

A batch of soap has been made and some simple lavender bags to add to some Christmas cards that have been delivered today.  Some little doorstep deliveries to hopefully make someone smile.  It has been a difficult year and so I wanted people to know that they were in my thoughts.

Small hampers have been put together and delivered to our neighbours today to thank them for their help and support through the lockdown and this past year.  We are so fortunate to have good neighbours and it is nice to show them how much they are appreciated.

Blogger is playing silly beggars once again the photos are not loading in the order that I want.  Anyway this arrived in the post earlier this week and made us smile.  It certainly sums up this year 2020, toilet paper, hand sanitiser and masks...

Hopefully this will bring some cheer at a time when there is so much doom and gloom.  Where ever you are in the World I do hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and that your plans have not been altered too much.  I intend to remain as positive as I can and find joy in the simplicity of our celebrations this year.  Take care dear friends and stay safe.

See you soon.

  1. We were due to host Christmas dinner here for my son and his fiancee on Wednesday. It's just been cancelled but we are still hoping that Christmas dinner proper can go ahead. Fingers crossed.

  2. I have just been watching on BBC World News the announcement of the latest C19 restrictions in UK. I shall contact my sister tomorrow who is a widow and lives alone. She was hoping to spend Christmas day with her son and family. Not sure what Tier she is in! We are allowed 6 people here in Alicante...at least at present. We have decided to just share Christmas day with my daughter and grand-daughter. Those hampers are such a good idea...a lovely gesture. keep well Amanda x

  9. Your little hampers look lovely; a really thoughful way to thank neighbours and friends. I hope that everyone will be able to find some joy over Christmas time especially for those who can't be with their families.

  10. Your little gifts are so lovely, I know they will be especially appreciated after such a dark year. I was thinking of all of you blogging friends with the new restrictions. Here it is still like it is no big deal, but that is Florida for you. Tens of thousands of people dead in this state and some people still refuse to wear masks. Stay safe.

  11. That is a clever Christmas 2020 ornament. A good way to document such a foul year with a bit of humor. Prayer, faith, and humor help a lot. Praying for Great Britain. I'd like to be your neighbor. ☺️

  12. Your gifts are a wonderful way to express your care and concern for others. Your neighbours are blessed. We will be just the two of us for Christmas, with some driveway drop offs of gifts and food. It will be different, but the reason for celebrating - Christ's birth - remains the same!

  13. I'm sure your thoughtful gifts will be appreciated by your friends and neighbors, Lorraine. I'm sorry about the change in plans for so many. This pandemic is surging in our town as well. Please stay safe. Merry Christmas to you and Gerard!

  14. Here in Canada we are not allowed to gather for Christmas. I will not see my family. I am with a sister for Christmas. Let's hope next year will be different.
You have nice homemade gifts to give. I'm sure your friends and neighbours will really appreciate them. I like that 2020 ornament.
    Merry Christmas. Greeting from Canada.

  15. I saw on the news about the new virus strain there and it's very frightening. We're scared to death here as our idiot leader has not worn a mask and by example all of his followers won't wear them. Now he's trying to overthrow the election. It's horrific to be in this country right now. Take care and be safe. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  17. Lorraine,it is so thoughtful of you and Gerard to take such lovely gifts to your neighbors and friends. I know they will be appreciated although I'm sure they already know how much you care and appreciate them.
I saw Boris Johnson on the news here tonight and heard his announcement. I haven't talked to Alex or Tara yet to see how this will affect their plans. I think they were supposed to be at her parents home for Christmas. I'm guessing that won't be happening now.
The news of a new strain of the virus both there and in Italy is really frightening. I wonder if the vaccine will be effective on it? So many things to worry about so I try to turn it all over to the Lord. Only He is truly able to give us peace. Certainly this world won't. We're under stricter lockdowns too but not like yours. People are so independent here, which in itself isn't bad, but when you put so many others at risk because you won't wear a mask. How is it any different than wearing a seatbelt, or putting your child in an infant seat in the car? Oops! I'm getting on a soapbox. I just really wish people would act more responsibly.
I hope you and Gerard have a peace-filled Sunday and a joyous week of advent in preparation of the celebration of Jesus' birth.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  18. It's all a bit of a nuisance that we've been put in Tier 4 but won't really affect us too much. It is necessary though to get rid of the virus quicker and keep us all safe.

  21. We haven't seen Daniel and Jasmine since last Christmas, we were hoping they'd be here this Christmas but Essex has now been put in Tier 4 so they're unable to travel. It's so hard to see an end to it when cases just keep rising.

  23. We are lucky that it appears our son will be able to visit for Christmas, but my mom is getting out of rehab on the 23rd so we will have to be extra cautious, especially as she will have aides with her at home. Wishing you a Merry Christmas none the less.

  25. It's all so confusing and heart breaking for those people who live alone and those stranded by border closures. Your gifts for neighbours are lovely and will certainly make them smile. The symbols of 2020 made me smile:)

  27. You have such a kind, giving heart. Your gifts are beautiful. What a reminder that little 2020 ornament with the toilet paper will be...of course, none of us will soon forget this year. Hope you and Gerard and all your family have a happy and safe Christmas.

  28. We send our best wishes to you and Gerard and the rest of your family for a Happy Christmas. Under the latest lockdown news it will be a bit sadder in that families won't be able to gather or see one another. The gifts you have made for your neighbors look lovely and are sure to be appreciated. Even though blogger plays games with photos loading, yours showed up even if not in the order you would have wanted.

  29. We have greater restrictions coming down on Christmas Eve. At least our boys can be home for Christmas due to living alone.

Love the ornament, brought a smile to my face.

What wonderful gifts for neighbours and friends!

    God bless.

  30. This is certainly going to be a memorable Christmas. I am hoping to spend a couple of hours with my daughter and grandchildren but Matt Hancock has hinted today that the rules could change again, so who knows? It's almost impossible to plan. Your wee hampers look great! x

  31. We’re in tier 4 but had a low key Christmas planned anyway, but so many people now face Christmas alone, it’s very sad.
How lovely if you to deliver doorstep gifts, I’m sure they will be much appreciated . Have a wonderful Christmas
