I have wonderful neighbours and a very grateful for their thoughtful gifts left in my porch. We certainly don't go hungry, in fact we have made an effort this past week and have eaten lots of salad.
The lettuce and rocket has been amazing fresh from the garden, along with the chives makes for a very tasty base to any salad. Scones were left by one neighbour:
A cherry and almond cake by another:
I place them in a polythene bag and leave them in the front porch friends and neighbours pop by and help themselves. I have also been working on a small gift for my sweet little friend who is going to have a birthday next week. She has lots of bits and pieces so I thought it would be nice to make her a storage bag, along with a heart filled with last years lavender that I dried. She walks past our little cottage and waves it will be nice to be able to catch up with her, when all this shielding is over.
I have also made several more storage bags and lavender filled hearts for our Grandaughter all ready for her new bedroom as they have finally signed all the contracts on their new house they have had built. Exciting times for them.
Little pockets in the front and bits of lace add to there beauty. The Harris Tweed coats for the boys are finally finished and I also added a scarf and a face mask. I am hoping that they won't be needing them but I had a little fabric left so thought they may be useful.
I am so looking forward to seeing them wear them. They are all packed up ready for the post.
We had a Tesco delivery today so the store cupboard, fridge and freezer are all well stocked up. I am grateful for the delivery and the staff who provide the service but I must admit I do miss not choosing my own meat, fruit and vegetables myself.
We continue to work outside when we can and have completed several projects which I will share in a later post. In so many ways life appears normal and yet the hidden virus keeps us separated from each other, particularly family. It seems such a long time since we have seen them all and my heart is heavy from yearning but deep down I know that we need to be sensible. We are living in strange times that is for sure.
I will stop for now and press the publish button. I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow. Take care and stay safe.
See you soon.
Wow,those scones look so good. Mine never rise like that i wonder what her secret is.
ReplyDeleteNothing is so annoying than the internet not working is it?
Stay safe,
Briony

oh my yes. miss it more than cable tv.
DeleteLovely to hear from you you are certainly keeping busy.x
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot work you're doing. I like them. I was expecting you had some internet issues. I had some last night. Trying to get into my website was hard. Almost turned it off. I should go make some banana bread before I fall asleep here on the couch. Have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you and glad to hear all is well. As usual you've been busy with your sewing. Wishing you a peaceful Sunday and week ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see you back here and so nice to know that it was the internet that kept you away and nothing more serious. I love all your gifts for loved ones, I'm sure they will be much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteVery frustrating to have sluggish internet or no internet at all. You certainly stay busy! Love those darling tweed jackets! Your little grands will look adorable in them. Pardon my ignorance, but why do islanders have any concern at all for covid? Is it still popping up?
ReplyDeleteOh the luxury of having a Harris Tweed coat with lovely lining and a useful mask that matches. You think of everything.
ReplyDeleteHello Lorraine, I'm glad you were able to get a post up.. must be awful not to have dependable internet. That is so nice of you to make masks for your neighbors and family. I have one but it doesn't fit too well and keeps falling off. Cases are going up in Oregon so we will continue to be confined to quarters. I'm glad to hear you got a good delivery. We need to put in another order. Stay safe my friend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteHow disconnected we feel without internet. I'm glad yours is back for now, and hope it is steady. You are making so many lovely things. Those jackets for the boys are so smart. I'm glad you have good neighbours who drop off wonderful things, and you certainly give back in the same way.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hello, my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you here tonight.
I always love my visits with you.
You really put into words the way I feel too...
Life seems almost normal, yet the hidden virus remains and keeps us apart. I hope your internet is fixed soon!
It's nice to see a post pop up from you, Lorraine. I love hearing how friendly your neighbors are particularly during this pandemic. The darling Harris Tweed jacket is beautiful. I'm sure your gifts will delight the receivers!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see a post from you. You seem to have lovely, caring neighbours.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how your dry your lavender. I tried last year and it just did not turn out for me.
God bless.
Lorraine it was a joy to read your post today. You certainly have some very nice neighbors who have blessed you with some wonderfful gifts, both edible and crafty.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good of you to make masks for others. I also love the coats and matching masks for the children.
I know how you feel about being with others and especially family. I hope those days will come soon but it sounds like the virus may be rearing it's ugly head again as some states have begun opening up more.
WIshing you and Gerard a lovely Sunday and we're praying for you both to stay healthy and happy in your cottage.
Blessings,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post and so good to know you are both okay. Lots of lovely things to admire with your sewing and crafting and the scones and cake look delicious. It's lovely to be able to pop into the garden to pick salad and leaves for a meal:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have really lovely neighbours where you live. How lovely that they drop food off, and also that you are making the masks.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have your internet back again as it is lovely to catch up with your news and see your lovely makes. Take care.
Such lovely makes - it looks amazing!

ReplyDeleteLovely creations !!!! No internet but talent, nice neighbors and a lot of ideas to create !!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week !
Anna
Intermittent internet must be a real pain especially at the moment. It looks like you have been keeping busy. The tweed jackets are so lovely as are all your other projects. How wonderful to have scones and cake left for you by neighbours.
ReplyDeleteOur internet used to be a lot worse than it is at present, so you have my sympathy.
ReplyDeleteYou have been so busy making those masks (you have put me to shame) and I am sure all your friends and neighbours are more than grateful to have one to wear and keep safe. They are more than repaying you with the wonderful baking.
Love the wee tweed jackets and the lovely things you have made for your grand-daughter. You know how to keep busy.
We are missing family, but managed to have a distanced meet up with middle daughter but we haven't seen our son for 3 months now. It must be so much worse when you have grandchildren.
Like you, I am grateful for our food deliveries, but it's not the same as picking food for yourself - especially fruit and vegetables. I am very disappointed at some of the stuff we take delivery of.
Stay safe.
So glad that you are ok and the problem is the internet. The things you have been making are lovely especially the tweed jackets. I can remember when I was having my son christened at the age of 4 (37 yrs ago) and you couldn't buy jackets then but luckily a friend made one for him.
ReplyDeleteI live in Norwich which is where I believe you have some family. I have recently started a blog pastorswife69.com if you want to have a look at it.
good for you to have such friendly neighbours who look out for you. Must admit I would love to live somewhere like you do. I do miss living in Holyhead next to the sea but that was 24 yrs ago.
Keep safe and well
Lovely to see this post from you and to read that all is well :)
ReplyDeleteI do like all the things that you have made, they look lovely.
During these times of Covid 19 it is hard not being able to see family... we do have a family internet session and it's lovely to see and talk to everyone, but of course it's not the same as meeting in the flesh and enjoying a hug … Perhaps soon we will be able to do this.
Take care
All the best Jan
Lovely to have you back again with all your news. Everything looks wonderful, won't they all go down really well.
ReplyDeleteyou sound so calm about the internet, I would be livid and upset! I hope that it gets solved soon enough so you can enjoy blogging when you want to blog. lovely photos of what you've been up to!
ReplyDeleteThose coats are really special. I love your attention to detail. I hope you are able to get together with your family soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see another post from you. So glad that every one is fine. Those coats are beautiful. I like the idea of making masks and leaving them out for friends to take. I just ordered some more elastic (there wasn't any to be bought until recently) so that I can make some more mask for family and friends. I have plenty of fabric. It is nice that you have so many caring and thoughtful friends and neighbors.
ReplyDeleteI like your beautiful and practical hand crafts. I feel like making fabric face mask, those that you have made look so pretty. Cute storage bags and hearts. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteYour crafting is gorgeous, and what a wonderful community you have there, take care.

ReplyDeleteGood neighbours are worth their weight in gold!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing the details of your mask pattern please?
Thanks,
Christine
Too bad about the continuing internet issues, Lorraine. We had to replace our modem this week which after 5 years just "died." Thankfully we only rent it and so quickly were given a replacement. You certainly have wonderful and thoughtful neighbors and their treats I'm sure tastes even better than they look in the photos, Glad you and Gerard are doing well. Your projects are as amazing and beautiful as ever. yes, we are all missing family and friends in this continuing normal.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet blog and wish there was a way to subscribe via email. I don't keep up with blogs very well unless the posts are delivered to my inbox. My memory is not very good! It was so nice to visit with you today, and I just love the pretty things you make. That little girl will be thrilled to get her gift, and it is so kind of you to make the face masks and leave them on your porch! God keep you safe in these crazy times.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are okay but it’s frustrating not to have internet service, I’m sure. You do accomplish so much! Maybe i should try turning off the internet and see if I accomplish more!
ReplyDeleteyou made me hungry with looking at the scones and cake your were given by neighbors! Sweet of them to do that. Nice jackets for your grandsons. Megan came home with another mask. I have enough for now. I don't always wear mine. Our t-mobile phones weren't working in the US Monday. Finally figured out it was an fiber optic cable that went out. Later it worked! Take care and have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteI love the masks you have been making. So generous and thoughtful. The cake and scones look yummy too. The kindness is so good to see.
ReplyDeleteJacquie x

ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful to have such good neighbours like that! The facial masks are beautiful and the bags so amazing! They are pretty beautiful!!

I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR.
