The Ever Changing Seascape

Yesterday was such a beautiful day too nice to be inside.  We went down to the Port and had a stroll along the pier, admiring the gentle rhythm of the sea.  The waves gently building up to crash into the rocks and then roll back again.  It wasn't as warm as first thought due to a chilly wind, but it was nice to breath in the wonderful sea air and be thankful for the beauty we were surrounded by.

We have walked along the pier many times but each walk we see something different, no two photos the same.  An ever changing land and seascape.

The steps lead up to an art gallery, one of these days...just along from the gallery is a cafe perfect for taking in the amazing views.  A walk along the beach is the perfect way to spend time and admire the gulls perched on the ledges of the cliffs.  They are nesting so I didn't want to walk too close.

The sound of the sea reaching its crescendo and then starting its journey once more is like a musical show, joining in with the screeching of the gulls.

The wonderful melody of the sea soothing your soul.  Back to reality and our little cottage for lunch mixed seed bread with leek and sweet potato soup.

As always I do thank you for your visit and your uplifting comments.

See you soon.

  3. Your photos are amazing! I love living by the sea, although we're on a very flat peninsular. I love the cliffs and the waves in your photos. Best, Jane x

  6. What a nice walk ! I too love the sea and the rocks and the sound and air ! It's much better in the North than in a Southern country. The color too is different.

  7. You described the sound and sights of the waves so well it was almost like I was there with you! I grew up in California, about 40 miles from the ocean. I'm surprised how much your seashore looks just like the pacific coast of California. Seems to prove we're all the same.

  15. Your sea air must be so healthful for you both! You must never have any kind of air pollution living right on the sea like you do. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing those coastal images and could almost smell the salty air. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  17. I enjoyed coming along on your seaside walk. I could almost feel the chilly wind, so much so that I had to turn the heat up a bit because I felt cold.

  19. It's always wonderful to go for a walk in a familiar place and find something new to see. The sea is one of our favorite places but we only have a river view from our apt.

I wouldn't mind it back at your cottage for some leek and sweet potato soup. I have never had that but I know it must be good!

  21. I have had a good and proper catch up on your last few months and so enjoyed it, Lorraine. Thanks for sharing some of the highlights of your holiday travels, your lovely family and sweetly growing grands. I enjoyed the new Mary Poppins movie, too. I'm glad you had good quality time with your folks and you are content that they are happily settled where they are. "Your" sheep, chickens, lighthouse, Mickey, soups, breads, crochet, scrapbook pages, ocean, and Inspire bible are wonderful to see. I'm glad you and Gerard are well enough to find much joy in your lives and I regularly pray for blessings for you. xx

  22. There is something special about breathing air that has been scrubbed clean across thousands of miles of ocean isn't there. The salty tang and the oxygen levels are so refreshing.

  26. Your coastline looks rugged and wild. I love that. Your photo of the winding road with the steps leading up the hill to the distance really drew me in. I want to jump into the picture and find out what is beyond that bend and see the art gallery over the hill. One of these days? ;-)
Thank you for sharing your scenic photos. This armchair traveller appreciates them very much. Stay warm!

  29. Ohhhhhh how wonderful! To be able to walk along the sea!!! Ohhhhh sigh... We miss it so much.

Years ago, we could drive over to Cape Cod. Every autumn. And it was wonderful. But not for some time.

How lucky you are, to live where you do. Enjoy it!!!!!!! :-)

  32. How lovely to be close enough to walk along the seas edge and see that beauty around you.
Answering your question on the quilted mat in my last post. It was an antique piece I found many years ago in an antique shop. I loved it so much I had it framed for many years, but now use it as a mat.
