Inverness

Our day started very early yesterday as we set off on an adventure to Inverness.  Gerard had a hospital appointment so off we went to the airport for a very quick flight to the mainland.  It was a very smooth trip despite the wind and the rain and an ideal way to take some photos of the coast from the air.

A quick bus ride (23 mins to be exact)  and we were in the town centre, admiring some of the beautiful buildings.

There is also a very modern shopping complex so we did do a little shopping, it would have been silly not to.  M & S first on the list for underwear, socks and such.  Debenhams had several sale rails with as much as 70% off but I wasn't tempted by anything.  The Works was a huge success as we both managed to find books.

I also picked up several cutting dies that were in the sale, perfect for my needs.

Another bus took us to the Hospital, where I sat crocheting and chatting to another lady waiting for her husband.  Gerard was exhausted so we got a taxi back to the airport and enjoyed a meal and a well deserved cup of tea.  I also had a stroll around the few shops at the airport.  This one caught my eye the display were amazing.

The drive from the airport took longer than the actual flight but we arrived home safe and sound, where Mickey was waiting for us.  We are so thankful that we have good neighbours who looked after him and the chickens for us.

A good nights sleep and we are ready to start another day.  I will catch up ith you later when I get some of my chores done.

See you soon.

  2. Oh you got some lovely things at The Works. I had thought about you when I was in there the other day as they did have a lot of crochet books.
What a wonderful display that airport shop has.
Glad you are home safe and sound.

  3. Those buildings are so scenic. Nice score on the books and other items. I would love to have a day to shop at a thrift store, but I'm busy cleaning before spring arrives.

  4. What lovely goodies you found! I love The Works. It's one of my favourite places to shop when I'm home. I'm tempted to buy far more than I can fit in my suitcases though! Sounds like a long day, but good. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos of your adventure. I'd love to live on your island (or surrounding area!)

  7. Glad it was a smooth and interesting trip.

Hope his appointment went well, too.

Mmmmmm, I don't much like those 'little' commuter flights. But I'd have to like them, if I lived on an island. :-))))

It must be fun to go shopping by plane

  11. What a trip.. but it must be kind of fun to visit a big city after being in the quiet countryside, too. I hope Gerard didn't find it too taxing. Enjoy being home in your sweet cottage. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  12. Wow, you packed a lot into a day! I just love the straw horse in the shop. The tried to figure out what the shop was selling — products from
    Scotland, perhaps?

  15. Despite the reason for your trip, it looks like you had a pretty good day going through shops and such. I like those books. What do you use those cutting dies for? I've never seen them before. Hoping that all is well with your husband.

  16. You managed to make a necessary trip to the hospital appt. into a lovely day together. I loved seeing the old buildings and the various displays. I'm not too sure just what the cutting dies are for but no doubt you'll be showing us when you use them.

  19. It sounds as though your day out went smoothly and I hope your husband has recovered from his long day out in town and at the hospital. It would have been a shame not to visit a few shops whilst you were there and a good idea to take some work to do whilst waiting at the hospital:)

  24. What a day! I hope Gerard is making good progress. The views from the 'plane are so beautiful - WOW! It's dangerous for me to go into The Works, there's too much temptation, so I mostly avoid it. x

  29. Blimey... I thought my commute on the train was exciting (or at least I did at first). Those cutting dies are a bargain… Have you looked at the ones on Aliexpress? I have saved an absolute fortune buying them.
