Eoropie Beach

Wrap up warm, don't let the sun and bright day deceive you.  A two minute drive from the cottage and I will take you on a walk down from Eoropie Park to the beach.  Be careful where you walk there are endless rabbit holes, but sadly not a rabbit in sight.  There appears to be an epidemic of rabbit deaths, decimated by an outbreak of myxomatosis.  Thankfully no dead rabbits on route but I did miss not seeing them running along the machair and dunes.

There is nothing like a babbling brook to entertain the senses and this one was no exception.  It was a joy to follow it meandering down to the sea.

Look around at the sand dunes towering over the beach, a feast for the eyes.  Not sure how stable they are but I have seen people climbing them on numerous occasions.

As we carry on down to beach, first of all there are numerous rocks/stones to clamber over a great barrier from the raging seas when a storm hits.  They are such fun to walk around and see whats living underneath and around them.  Particularly nice when it is a little warmer.

Finally the beach and the glorious ocean.  An invigorating walk along the beach blows the cobwebs away.

Hope you enjoyed the stroll, now back to the car and a quick drive to the cottage for soup.  Tomato and red pepper or leek and sweet potato?

Thank you for you visit here and your uplifting comments.  A war welcome to a new follower, I do hope you enjoy my little adventures through life.

See you soon.

  1. OH want a lovely walk! I love the smell of the sea air and a bracing breeze. Your beautiful photos look like postcards! Mmm... I love both those soups; I think I'll have the leek and sweet potato please :) Best, Jane xx

  2. What a lovely stroll and then back home for soup, perfect. So sad about the rabbits, it's such a horrible disease and to think that it was used to control the rabbit population, terrible.

  4. Those beaches have spoilt me forevermore. We used to spend hours there, wild, rugged, and almost always empty. Guaranteed to blow away the cobwebs! Tomato and red pepper please, though I am sure they are both delicious. Your posts are very good for my health.

  7. One of those stones reminds me of a love heart.
We need to be careful clambering around rock pools in South Australia. One needs to be extremely careful - don't use your hands to turn rocks over because underneath might be a deadly blue-ringed octopus! Wear closed shoes and be careful! I imagine you would wear closed shoes where you are because of cooler weather and perhaps freezing cold water?

  12. I like that walk among the rocks and listening to the water run along the brook. I would have wanted to cart back with me a few rocks.
The beach in winter for me is the best time to visit.

I would have a hard time choosing which soup, so I will take a small bowl of both. Sounds so good..

  13. I love it where we live, but an invigorating walk along the beach would be a joy if only we were nearer to the coast. Thanks for being able to come along with you and enjoy your beautiful island walks instead.

  14. That's a beautiful walk ! I like wild landscapes. Hope the rapids will come back ! For me the pebbles would be a paradise because I transform them into cats ! I paint with acrylic and the stone looks like a cat. People like that and on expositions I have sold quite a few. Here I have to go in a garden store and buy my pebbles !

  15. Such beauty on this lovely walk on your beach! I do love the ocean. The lovely rocks so polished by her mightiness. The last photo of the large rock looks like a heart to me! Your soups sound wonderful, how can I choose? ♥

  16. How sad about the rabbits. I suppose it’s nature’s way. You’re brave ones to go out to the sea in cold weather...it is starkly beautiful. I like that rock that has a heart-like shape. It would look good in your garden. 😉

  24. I am reading this just as I have come in from my own brisk walk and am still a little out of breath. I would have loved to walk along the little brook with you as long as I didn't have to venture too close to the ocean. I have a question. Are there some living on the island who never leave it? I am sure there are. I am quite sure I would be one of those. :~)

  27. Wonderful beach photos, how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful place. I remember seeing rabbits with myxomatosis around the woods where we lived as a child in the 50s not a pleasant sight. I'm sad it is back. Both soups sound delicious I wouldn't know which to choose:)
