Trip to Inverness

A little mini break was the perfect tonic for Gerard and I.  A last minute decision but certainly did us both some good as well as helping Amie with the children.  We stayed in the Royal Highland Hotel which is situated right next to the Railway Station, cheap and cheerful is what we expected.  It was a lot better than anticipated, a very grand building which added to the ambience of the break away.

We enjoyed the entrance lobby and were impressed by the sweeping staircase and the artwork on display.

The price included breakfast.  We anticipated a continental and were amazed at the full range of Scottish Fayre which included a full cooked breakfast and of course porridge.  Certainly value for money and somewhere we would be happy to stay again.

Pop on your walking shoes and I will give you a whistle stop tour of some of the amazing buildings around Inverness.  It was such a lovely day, the sun was shining and enhanced the simple pleasures of strolling in this amazing City.

Tired?

Yes, it certainly was tiring but the views on the drive back to Ullapool for the ferry more than made up for it.  Breathtaking beauty is my opinion.  Buckle up and I will take you along with us.

A little blurred but I was taking the pictures as the car was moving.  Hope you enjoyed your little trip.

Have a wonderful weekend.

See you soon.

  1. I always fancied a trip to Inverness - it is so so far away from Glasgow, we never did. Thanks for showing me around, I enjoyed by armchair walk. Glad you had a lovely time xx

  13. Oh my, that was a beautiful trip. I enjoyed the stroll around Inverness with you. The buildings are so pretty. I love the history of the old cities in your part of the world. We don’t have that here in the U.S. it seems that you chose a perfect hotel too, with a breakfast that gave you the energy you needed for the trip around town! Also, the drive to the ferry was gorgeous. Those cloudy skies were quite a change from the city sky weren’t they? Thanks for taking us with you.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  20. It sounds like you had a lovely little getaway. Isn't it nice to be pleasantly surprised by a hotel rather than not? Inverness looks like a wonderful place to explore.

  21. Thank you for taking us around Inverness and surrounding area. As I remember there are some beautiful turreted buildings in Scotland. The hotels we've stayed in and the generous food portions made holidays there very enjoyable.
