I have a few small projects that I have been working on recently but have been abandoned for one reason or another. Yesterday, the rug was finished. It is made using the trimmings of Harris Tweed off the loom, a by product using the largest hook that I had, mega crochet. It did make my hands ache so only a couple of rows could be done at a time.
It grows very quickly so in a couple of hours I was ready to change colour and crochet a border.
It was a fun make and definitely something I would make again despite the aching fingers.
The body of the shawl I started is now ready for a border so I spent sometime sorting out my yarn stash and consequently picking out the colours for the border.
I am missing the chatter of my little guests but have some wonderful memories to sustain me until the next visit. The cake making, tea parties and games...
Mickey is just enjoying the peace and quiet.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend and that the weather was good to you. It has been glorious here so we managed to get some outdoor projects done, I will share them with you on another post. As always I thank you for your support, comments and emails.
See you soon.
I haven't lost comments but they are no longer being notified in my e mail account. Blogger does seem a bit weird at the moment.
ReplyDeleteComment notifications gone for me too but I'm not having too much trouble with Blogger....she says with her fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours in your rug and it looks lovely and cosy.
Hugs-x-
I wondered what the yarn was in the first photo until you said and I thougt what a great way to use a by product. It makes a great rug. I have been looking back at your lovely grandchildren too - what a fabulous time you all had. Jo x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous rug! I bet it is all cosy to step on. Digital cameras have really made long distance family relationships easier, haven't they? So nice to have lots of memories to enjoy when you are waiting for the next visit. x
ReplyDeleteExcellent projects! And lovely photos of the little ones.
ReplyDeleteWonderful crochet problems. My Mum and I are supposed to be learning to crochet when I go visit her this summer. Should be fun! I hate the blogger 'update'. I don't like that I don't get email notifications. It was so much easier to respond to people. Now sometimes I forget!
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I am sorry to hear about your blogging problems, but happy to see that you are not giving up the ship. I would miss you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer!
Connie :)
I still have comments but not by email. Your rug is lovely. Your grandchildren are gorgeous, I can see a likeness to you in them.
ReplyDeleteWaste not, want not, as the saying goes. As a result, you have a beautiful and functional rug. I love the pics of your little ones, especially the one with the bow!
ReplyDeleteI have comments but such a lot of anonymous spam which I never had before. Hard work but worth it on that rug. I have tried but cannot crochet. I used to knit a lot but osteo arthritis has put paid to that. I can still hold a paintbrush tho!
ReplyDeleteThe book of borders looks like an enjoyable one to keep handy. You have some great projects going at the moment.

So that's why my comments are not showing up in my e mail any more. I did wonder about that.
ReplyDeleteHoney and Hector are so cute!!
I’m missing the comments showing in my email too. Love the rug, quite beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteMy comments used to come by email. They do not anymore. I just leave a response sometimes under the comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what the problem is.
I know your Grand children are missing you just as much with the cake making other fun things you enjoyed with them.
You do some fine crochet work. I love that shawl, well I love everything you have posted here of your craft. I cannot crochet, tried but can't get stitches consistent.

I love the rug out of Harris Tweed. I think it is worth the hard work. The book of borders looks nice and useful.
ReplyDeleteLoving your beautiful rug. I like to make rugs using old sheets that are torn into strips and then crocheted. I’m still using some rugs I made 20 years ago. I love them and they wash wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteSuch wpsweet photos of your grand babies. Mine are coming next week and I getting so excited! :-)
Blessings,
Betsy
Wow.. that rug will be so soft and warm for your feet! I had a friend who was 100 years old who made rag rugs that lasted for a long time. What cute grandchildren you have!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd those babies?
They are adorable, and will always treasure the memories you make with them. : )
Blogger is definitely having issues these days. I'm trying out leaving a comment on my own blog, then ticking the box that says "notify me" and hope to get comments in my email that way. WE'll see if it works. So frustrating.
ReplyDeleteYour crochet projects look wonderful. How empty the house feels when those sweet ones leave. Glad you have the good memories.
How lovely all your projects look and I can imagine how you miss your little visitors. I too no longer get e-mails to tell me people have commented on my blog, I thought it was my computer or service provider but it seems that it is a blogger issue:)
ReplyDeleteI hope the situation with blogger is sorted soon, I miss the conversations through email, they are half the fun of blogging. Lovely time with your little guests and lovely makes!

Hello! What a lovely set of memories. Wonderful crocheting creations...I love fancy edging as well.
ReplyDeleteI am missing not getting comments in my e-mail, and also not being able to respond to them either.
I hope they change it back soon.
Hope you have a lovely day!
