Family Visitors

BUSY is the word that I would us to describe my life right now.  We have had a wonderful few weeks catching up with our daughter and Grandchildren, enjoying the chatter and laughter.  We went over to the mainland to help them back onto their flight home and enjoyed a night in Inverness.  Browsed the shops, enjoyed the sights and partook in some great Scottish Food Fayre.  We were certainly very lucky with the weather, enjoying the sun and warm temperatures.  This enabled some wonderful moments on the beaches with the children.  Bertie was even brave enough to go into the sea, I can confirm it was extremely cold.  Whilst they have grown so much they are still not too big to sit and have a cuddle with Granny.

It took Honey a little while to get used to Mickey but very quickly they developed a lovely relationship and were very quick to share.  Mickey was a great companion for Honey as she was constantly giving him food, it was a joy to watch them.

I certainly felt blessed as I watched Gerard with the children, his love  so apparent in all that he does with them.

The trips to the hospital and sports centre continued despite our visitors, but we did make the most of it by combining it with a visit to the castle and museum.  It is now a Hotel but still a lovely place to visit, enjoy the views and a lovely pot of tea.

It was a beautiful day for a stroll up the hill and enjoy the natural beauty.  The harbour was equally a joy to stroll around and watch for wildlife.

Bertie loved the stroll, picking out his favourite boats scanning the sea for life.  It would be nice to take them on a sea trek on their next visit to enjoy what the Hebrides waters have to offer.

Amie and I did manage to get away for a couple of hours to catch up with each other and enjoy an afternoon tea.  My goodness, what a feast not only for the taste buds but also for the eyes.  The table was set so beautifully and the food a real delight.  Tasty morsels, all handmade and thoroughly enjoyed by us both.  A wonderful treat on so many levels.

It was such a decadent tea and such a thoughtful gift from a good friend.  The days passed so quickly but I have some wonderful memories to sustain me until the next visit.  All to soon they were back on the ferry heading for home.  They have fallen in love with our Island paradise and are looking forward to visiting again, already making plans for what they want to see and do.

Honey still enjoys Granny's make up and was happy to play with the brush for a good hour.

Bertie still enjoys a game, this time hangman with Granny.

Yes, Gerard still enjoys a snooze...

...and just because.

My apologies for not visiting your blogs, time has been short but I will try to catch up as soon as I can.  I have a line full of bedding drying, the smell of air dried washing makes me smile, simple pleasures are a joy.   The toys are all once again packed away and things are getting back to normal here at the cottage.  It is so quiet I must admit to missing the chatter and laughter just a little...

Thank you for you emails, everything is fine with us here just busy but I will try to catch up soon.

See you soon.

  9. My, my, my, what a fun post. I especially like the photos by the sea. I could almost smell the salty air :) You certainly had a lot going on, no moss growing under your feet and it is so much fun to share time with loved ones and seeing things again through children's eyes is the best. I think it helps renew our spirits.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments.
    Have a lovely weekend.
