Crochet Projects

Not sure what is happening with Blogger at the moment but after a recent update all the comments on my previous post disappeared.  Floating around in cyberspace,,, The comments that used to go into my e-mail account again no longer appear.

I have a few small projects that I have been working on recently but have been abandoned for one reason or another.  Yesterday, the rug was finished.  It is made using the trimmings of Harris Tweed off the loom, a by product using the largest hook that I had, mega crochet.  It did make my hands ache so only a couple of rows could be done at a time.

It grows very quickly so in a couple of hours I was ready to change colour and crochet a border.

It was a fun make and definitely something I would make again despite the aching fingers.

The body of the shawl I started is now ready for a border so I spent sometime sorting out my yarn stash and consequently picking out the colours for the border.

A start has also been made on a small throw for Honeys chair, a plain square which will be finished with an elaborate border.

I am missing the chatter of my little guests but have some wonderful memories to sustain me until the next visit.  The cake making, tea parties and games...

Mickey is just enjoying the peace and quiet.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and that the weather was good to you.  It has been glorious here so we  managed to get some outdoor projects done, I will share them with you on another post.  As always I thank you for your support, comments and emails.

See you soon.

  1. I haven't lost comments but they are no longer being notified in my e mail account. Blogger does seem a bit weird at the moment.

  3. I wondered what the yarn was in the first photo until you said and I thougt what a great way to use a by product. It makes a great rug. I have been looking back at your lovely grandchildren too - what a fabulous time you all had. Jo x

  4. What a fabulous rug! I bet it is all cosy to step on. Digital cameras have really made long distance family relationships easier, haven't they? So nice to have lots of memories to enjoy when you are waiting for the next visit. x

  6. Wonderful crochet problems. My Mum and I are supposed to be learning to crochet when I go visit her this summer. Should be fun! I hate the blogger 'update'. I don't like that I don't get email notifications. It was so much easier to respond to people. Now sometimes I forget!

  10. I have comments but such a lot of anonymous spam which I never had before. Hard work but worth it on that rug. I have tried but cannot crochet. I used to knit a lot but osteo arthritis has put paid to that. I can still hold a paintbrush tho!

  14. My comments used to come by email. They do not anymore. I just leave a response sometimes under the comment on my blog.
Don't know what the problem is.
I know your Grand children are missing you just as much with the cake making other fun things you enjoyed with them.
You do some fine crochet work. I love that shawl, well I love everything you have posted here of your craft. I cannot crochet, tried but can't get stitches consistent.

  16. Loving your beautiful rug. I like to make rugs using old sheets that are torn into strips and then crocheted. I’m still using some rugs I made 20 years ago. I love them and they wash wonderfully.
Such wpsweet photos of your grand babies. Mine are coming next week and I getting so excited! :-)
    Blessings,

  19. Blogger is definitely having issues these days. I'm trying out leaving a comment on my own blog, then ticking the box that says "notify me" and hope to get comments in my email that way. WE'll see if it works. So frustrating.
Your crochet projects look wonderful. How empty the house feels when those sweet ones leave. Glad you have the good memories.

  20. How lovely all your projects look and I can imagine how you miss your little visitors. I too no longer get e-mails to tell me people have commented on my blog, I thought it was my computer or service provider but it seems that it is a blogger issue:)
