Come Fly With Me

We didn't have the quiet New Year in together as planned.  Friends from Church phoned to invite us to their party, we decided to go and had a wonderful Hogmanay.  The first of many more celebrations on this beautiful Island.  It is another bank holiday here where everything is quiet and nothing open, a wonderful time of reflection and future planning.

I love a list so I have made a start on the list of crafty creations I wish to complete this year.  One of them was a wonderful owl cushion that I found in an old issue of Simply Crochet, issue 11.

So come fly with me indeed, a start was made before Christmas...

...using some oddments of Aran yarn from previous projects.

It really did crochet up very quickly and was stitched together using a blanket stitch.

Sadly I didn't have a round cushion inner so I am using a square one at the moment.  Not really a good look, but will suffice for now.  A round inner is on the list for next time I go shopping.

So although started in 2017, it is the first finish for 2018.  A cushion all ready for the pew that is on the list for renovation once the outbuilding is done.

Many thanks for all your comments and well wishes for the New Year, they are all so much appreciated.

See you soon.

  2. Love your first finish and agree with you on the pillow shape. I was reading some of your past posts and just realized I missed so many. Sounds like your holidays were nice but a change. Seem like life just keeps bringing on change doesn’t it. Love your “word” for the year. Wishing you two the best and a healthy New year

  14. What's a hogmanay? Is it anything like a hootennanny?

Like the square cushion better than round. Good call.

You go, Girl! Love seeing your finished projects.

  15. I had an idea what Hogmanay was but checked it out just to be sure. Nice that you were inviited out and had a lovely celebration. We, on the other hand, had a quiet evening with a bottle of red wine that we had been given at Christmas. Unfortunately it must have been very high in Nitrites because I got the worst headache.
You've begun your creating this year with a bang and the Owl pillow is done! Good for you.

  27. I like the owl! So coooo-oool! My first thing I need to do is finish with hemming my curtains. One still waiting to be cut the correct length then sewn. Then work on my granddaughter's quilt for her birthday in May. I make lists as well and it does help me realize what needs done. Happy New Year!
