Winter Project Link Party

I started to crochet granny squares for my Winter project to make a throw for the sofa in the lounge, the change of colour in the lounge morphed the squares into an entirely different project.  After languishing in a basket for so long I can now reveal the finished product.

The squares have been transformed into a cushion cover...

...and four coasters and a hot pad.

I have also  completed a simple zigzag blanket to complete the set.

A wonderful combination of colour and style that is now all ready to be gifted.

It may have took awhile, been abandoned and reassigned but it all came good in the end.  I am linking up with Jennifer over at Thistlebear for the Winter Project Link Party why not pop over and see what everyone else has accomplished.

See you soon.

Winter Project

My Winter project, a throw for the lounge has languished in a basket all Winter looking woeful and sadly neglected.  I had hoped by joining Jennifer over at Thistlebear for the Winter project link party that I would be a little more enthusiastic but alas this has not been the case.  The project has been abandoned for so long that I no longer want the throw as I have changed the colour scheme of the lounge.

Not wanting to waste the yarn and the project that I have started, I have reassessed the squares already completed and made a set of coasters.

I impressed myself with those, two  Granny squares crocheted together, simple but so effective.

I have enough squares already done to make two cushion covers.

I will need to play around with them to get an idea of openings and such but the bulk of the work is done.

Finally there is such a lot of yarn left over that I have started a zigzag blanket to make the set.  A quick and easy make.

Not quite the Winter project that I had in mind but one that is finally beginning to come together and one that will make a present for which I will be proud to give.

Why not pop over to  thistlebearhome.com and see what projects the Winter has produced.

See you soon.

Winter Project

Work on my original winter project is slow, I have completed a few more granny squares to add to the pile but in general it is a neglected creation.  On a more positive note I have completed the quilt for our imminent new arrival which I am quite pleased with.

I have also crocheted a cushion for the nursing chair which compliments the quilt beautifully.  I added vintage buttons to give it a little style.

It is now bound with some natural twine and finished off with a painted and stamped bear as a tag.

I have also made a start on a couple of cowls for the Granddaughters in preparation for next Winter.  I have not had idle hands I am just not working on what I was supposed to.

Your time will come oh beautiful throw, you will not languish in the craft room forever.  I WILL make a concerted effort to finish you, but I need something small and transportable to take with me as I once again pop down to Norwich to be with my daughter whilst we wait for our new Grandson to arrive.  I leave tomorrow so will not be around for a little while.

I am linking to Jennifer over at Thistlebear for the Winter link up party, pop over and catch up with everyone's progress.

See you soon.

Winter Project Link Party

I am once again joining Jennifer over at Thistlebear for the Winter Project Link Party.  My Winter project is a crochet throw for the sofa in the lounge.  I have been working on it for some time but keep getting side tracked with other projects.  Unfortunately my Winter project is always usurped and is always left languishing in the basket.  News of two of my daughters having babies has kept my crochet hook busy, in fact it has been working in overdrive to get the blankets ready.  I am now in the final stages of the last one.

Only two quilts to be stitched and the babies are finished.  I am hopeful they will be finished before the babies arrive.

Christmas and all that brings also put the true Winter Project to one side, yet again!

I keep telling myself that I am committed.  I keep telling myself that I really want a new throw.  But...
everything else is a priority!

A few granny squares have been added, but progress is definitely SLOW.

Progress is slow, but some progress is better than no progress.  So I have to be content with that and will try to do better for next month.

Have you got a Winter project that you are working on?

See you soon.

Winter Project Link Up

I like many others have a couple of projects lurking in the craft room, so to motivate us all I am joining Jennifer over at Thistlebear for the Winter project link up party.

I started this throw/blanket a couple of years ago and for some reason didn't really get going on it.  I have now decided to replace some of the throws and cushion covers in the lounge room so this is the perfect time to get going with it again.

It is arran wool which is beautiful to crochet with and will be lovely and soft to use in the lounge when finished.  Yes I am saying finished, I am feeling motivated at the moment but if I flag a little joining this party will help keep me focused.

I haven't made a plan yet.  I haven't a clear idea of how many granny squares I need to commit to each week.  I am hoping that as I get familiar with how I want the throw to evolve it will become clearer in my mind.

My first job is to try and decipher the original scribble and plan and then I can move on.  All that said I actually love the yarn, I love the colours and I want a new throw so why did I abandon it in the first place?

See you soon.
