Vintage Pattern

Thank you for your visit and wonderful comments.  A very warm welcome to new followers, I hope you find something of interest.  I am an avid collector of vintage patterns for all crafts and love to search for them wherever we visit.  I do use some of them but not all, I love to sit and browse through them wondering about their previous history.  I haven't done a post for a while on my collection of pattern so today I thought I would share a pattern that I bought on my last holiday.

I think this is quite an unusual pattern, but maybe not for those of you who live in the states.  It is a book by Pat Roberts, Craftstick and Clothespin.

It has 16 home décor projects suitable for all ages.

It suggests it would be suitable for schools, groups, camp and holiday bazaars.  Now that is a word I haven't heard in years, bazaar...

I have managed to obtain some old pegs...

I have the craftsticks ready...

All I need now is 2 little girls to come and play with Granny, hopefully they will be here for a visit at the weekend.  Have you any plans for the weekend?

Whilst the projects may be a little old fashioned I personally think it is about the quality time spent chatting rather than the end result.  The pattern was 50c and in my opinion money well spent, perfect for my collection and perfect to share with Lily and Daisy.

This week I was blessed and received a wonderful pattern from Miss over at mywoolvalley.blogspot.co.uk/ for a stunning sea doll.  I intend to use the pattern to make two for the girls I have made a start but will save that for another post.

See you soon.

Vintage Pattern

For some reason I haven't done my weekly vintage pattern post for a couple of weeks I don't know why.  This weeks vintage pattern I want to share with you is a charted needlework designs pattern featuring over 100 motifs for needlepoint-cross stitch-rugs-knitting-afghan crochet.  They were created by Laura Conley and published by Leisure Arts in 1975 in the USA.  I actually bought it from a thrift store in Winter Park Florida whilst there on holiday at a cost of 20 cents.  A real bargain.  I love the leaflet it encompasses so many things that I love.  One of these day when I am not so busy with the wedding and Christmas this leaflet will be used.  I do wonder who has used it before me and how many things have been made with love using the same pattern.

A wonderful pattern, for some reason reminds me of the season Autumn in all is glory and of course HOME what better place to be.  The pattern is flexible so that you can choose your own placement of the design or group of designs.  It suggests that the patterns can be worked into knitting that I must admit I would love to see.

Hope you have enjoyed this pattern as much as I have.

See you soon.

Vintage Pattern

My choice of pattern today is linked to the fact that my niece had a new baby daughter 3 weeks ago 7 weeks early.  She was quite poorly to start but after 3 short weeks she is out of hospital and reunited with her wonderful Mummy and Daddy. To that end I chose a baby pattern which although old is still quite usable and contains both knitting and crochet patterns.

It is a Baby Collection by Robin, the original price just 20p and is illustrated both in colour and black and white.

The back cover depicts a pram rug and a cot cover, which I love.  The bright colours of the squares makes it such a delight so I am putting it on my to do list.

The matinee coat is also delightful and would still be on trend today, lots of shops are selling this style of baby coat at the moment.

This is a little old fashioned now but I crocheted this many years ago for my eldest daughter who is now 30 years old.  That was definitely a blast from the past.

Another crochet shawl which would be a quick make and still usable in this day and age.

Do bootees, mittens and such go out of fashion?

I enjoy sharing my vintage patterns, hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  A very warm welcome to my new followers and a big thank you for all the lovely comments that you leave.  I really do enjoy hearing from you.

See you soon.

Vintage Pattern

I have a vast collection of patterns, mostly vintage that I have collected over the years.  I love looking at them and imagining the life they had before residing in my craft room.  Wondering who used them and how the finished project looked like fascinates me.  I have many patterns that include sewing, crochet, knitting, cross stitch and tapestry, many will never be used but I love to collect them.  I store a lot of them in recycled binders that look quite attractive now that I have covered them.
I also have a couple of vintage wooden boxes that I store sewing patterns in, they make me smile when I look up from my table when I am working.

The patterns I am going to showcase today are 2 sewing patterns for boys both designed and manufactured in New York but bought from The Street of Shops at Renningers Mount Dora Florida for a $1 per pattern.  A real bargain when they contain so much history of an era gone by.

Well used patterns, that will probably never be used again but I feel I am preserving and loving a pattern that would probably end up in a land fill site.

Hope you enjoy looking at the patterns as much as I do.  I have my daughter and grandson visiting this weekend so I must get on and get his favourite toys out.

See you soon.
