Lets Take A Walk

Got some Celebrations left, don't be tempted to eat them.  Cut some tulle into squares and make some table gifts or add a hanger and add them to the tree.  You can really go to town and embellish as much or as little as you want.  I kept mine fairly simple.

I used some florist wire to tie them at the top and then added a ribbon and a bell.  Simple but look quite effective.

Its quite cold out but thankfully not a lot of wind so 'don your hat and gloves and jump into the car I will take you down for a walk at the Port to prepare for my next project.  Take some deep breaths and clear your lungs, the beauty is quite breath taking.

Here I am, looking for the perfect stones.  Some are better than others and if you look a little closer it  can be quite surprising.

Take a walk with me and let me show you the other side of the wall.

As the sun shows its face through the clouds its glows on the ever moving sea giving dappled shadows onto the tidal flow.

Not a lot of wind so the waves were quite gentle and not the usual thrashing against the harbour wall or surrounding rocks.   The perfect day for collecting a few rocks.  Although always mindful of the sea and the damage it can do.

Shall I give you a clue...

I will share the project in my next post.

As always I thank you for your support, your encouragement and friendship.

See you soon.

Following The Rainbow

Autumn has arrived.  There has been some  gentle changes here on our little Island, the hours of light are getting shorter, a few minutes shorter each day.  The weather is certainly Autumnal, windy and showers.  Changeable, blue skies and shadows one minute, overcast dark skies the next with outbursts of rain.  In between times the most beautiful rainbows, if only I could find that pot of gold.  I saw multiple rainbows this weekend, here one moment gone the next.  So it was in between showers that we headed out to the port to take a stroll along the harbour wall.

The ever changing skies and seas, a beautiful sight to behold.  The crashing waves on the rocks flooding every crevice with salt water and then rolling backwards into another wave.

A stroll along the wall listening to the crashing waves and ever pounding rhythm of the tide.

Back into the car and a few minutes later we sat and admired the beauty of the colourful rainbow, a true feast for the eyes.

Another chorus of crashing waves and then a pool of foam as the constant thrashing of the sea hits the rocks.

Back home, just in time for tea and another downpour of rain.  Yes, another rainbow...

The vibrant colours of the rainbow against the grey clouds brightening my day.

See you soon.

Saturday Stroll

The weather wasn't as bad as predicted, a little cooler but we didn't get the rain as badly as I had anticipated.  Consequently on Saturday, a picnic was packed and off we went down to the harbour too soothe our souls.  Pop on a sweater and jump into the car I will take you along with us.

The entrance to the harbour is through a gap between a cliff face and a large rocky islet.  You certainly get the wow factor at its beauty, even more so on days where the sun is shining or the waves are crashing, extremes!

Port of Ness is a village in the community of Ness where the beautiful harbour is situated.  It was constructed in the early 19th century and was once described as 'one of the principal fishing stations in the Isle of Lewis'.  If you can tear yourself away from the beautiful beach and coastline I will take you for a stroll along the pier.

I have the flask with me so we can stop and have a coffee when we get to the end.  Its a little scary on a windy day to stand at the end with no shelter but it is spectacular to be able to see both sides of the wall.

Well worth the walk, sit on the steps and take a breather.  The walk is just as good on the way back...

Roast pork and coleslaw sandwich anyone?

Finally, for all you Peter May fans this is the boathouse which is featured in The Blackhouse and The Lewis Man.

We will rest awhile here and chat awhile before we head back to the comfort of our little cottage.

See you soon.
