Weekend

There was a car boot sale on Saturday, a very strange phenomenon as there were no cars.  It turned out that there were tables inside the sports hall.  We had a little wander around and enjoyed the thrill of the find...a plant and a couple of prints.  Not a great haul but it was a fantastic social event.  We sat chatting for over an hour with various friends and neighbours and enjoyed tea and cake before heading off for a drive around the local area.  The temperatures are still a little low so it is still a little chilly but the sun was shining brightly.  It would have been easy to imagine you were sitting somewhere in the Mediterranean, if a tad cool.

We drove to the front and by the side of St Moluag's church..

It is a 13th century Church in the village of Eoropie and well worth a visit if you are ever in the area.  It is not connected to electricity and has some amazing oil lamps.  We didn't go inside this time as Gerard wasn't up to the walk, but it is beautiful inside and spiritually uplifting.

We drove down the one track road with various passing places to the Butt of Lewis, the most northerly point of Lewis.  The Headland lies in the North Atlantic and is frequently battered by heavy swells and storms.  Luckily the sea was calm and the waves their own master crawling gently to the shore.

The lapping waves entranced us whilst watching cylinders of light moving across the sea.  A sight to behold.  It was a joy to sit and watch the variety of birds darting around and soaring over the rugged and irregular coastline.

It was nice to get out and about and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us.  Even a pool of water can be a beautiful sight against the vibrant green grass and rocky backdrop.

It certainly blew the cobwebs away.  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

See you soon.

  8. -happy sigh- Being able to easily go to the sea... And lose one's self, in it's peace, for awhile. You-are-so-lucky. I am "a broken record," I know. :-) Always saying this. But it is so true!!!!!

I never got into what we call Garage Sales, and Yard Sales here. But I can see, that meeting and chatting with friends, is a big part of it.

    Gentle hugs...

  15. Happy Monday morning Lorraine. I enjoyed reading about the car boot sale. We don't have those here, we have "garage sales". I had never heard of a car boot sale until I started reading blogs.
Then, you took us on such a lovely drive. I enjoyed seeing all of the sights with you. The sea looks inviting on such a bright, sunny day. Quite different than the stormy photos you sometimes share with us. The way the sea can change it's mood, never fails to amaze me.
I would love to take a peek into the church with you sometime. Maybe someday I will actually get to visit you on your beautiful island home. Never say never!
Best wishes to Gerard and hope he is feeling better today.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  36. I am 48, have 3 children, 2 boys age 25 and 22 and a daughter of 11. My husband left me last year after 25 years of marriage (he turned 50). It has been the most difficult year of my life, but full of lessons about myself and what life and marriage are all about. I am passionate about marriage and i didn't give up on my husband. Am Arice Stringer by name and resides in USA, I entered online in search of advice on how i can amend my marriage while i was at work. I saw so many positive reviews and nice feed back about how a Doctor called Robinson.buckler@ yahoo. com has been wonderful with his work. I gave a shot to make contact with him via his Email and he assured me that my marriage will be peaceful and i believed in his words. 16 hours after he finished work, my husband came back home pleading and now, we are living peacefully again. Get in contact with him if you need any help.
