Vintage Pattern

The vintage pattern I am going to share this week is The Toy Book, a Harmony publication.  It was published by Lyric (pattern services) Ltd in 1976.

I love some of the simple shapes and the vintage fabrics that have been used, it really is an eye catching pattern, still perfect for today.  I have so many scraps and small pieces of vintage fabrics the pattern would be perfect to use some of it up.

They all have some appeal so I am not discounting any at this stage, but I thought I would have a go at the elephant and the owl they seem to be quite popular at the moment.

I intend to give my craft room a really good sort out once all the wedding things are out of there, but these are definitely on the top of my to do list.

Today I have a date with my husband, we have been married for 33 years so are celebrating.  We have a good strong marriage to which we have both worked hard to maintain despite our differences at times.  I feel truly blessed.

My advice for a good marriage would be, never go to bed on an argument.  What would yours be?

See you soon.

  1. your little vintage book is so cool. I too have a good marrige of 18 yrs. If i fallout with my hubby i do stay mad a while but will always resolve things before one of us leaves out the house for work or whatever reason. you just do not know if thats the last time you see that person alive x

  2. I agree with you about sleeping without argument.
And I add: always keep the flame with little gifts and be pretty for your man.
I have a vintage book same style but every animals are in wool, to knit or to crochet.
    I like that book..
    Miss.

  3. I had that book when it first came out!
I've never been married although I have conducted a lot of wedding ceremonies. The bit of advice that my training vicar used to give was, "Never move in next to the Joneses".

  7. Love the patterns in the book. Congratulations 33 years is fab & I have a similar ethos. You must make up straight after a fall out, never let badness linger.

  8. Happy Anniversary! My husband and I were happily married for 38 years before his death five years ago. When we did find ourselves in serious disagreement one or the other of us would reference our common commitment to God which helped us sort through our differences and find, with God's Grace, our way back to common ground.
I like the pattern shapes from you book, too! xx

  10. What a lovely book. And 33 years of marriage! It's amazing what can be worked out and worked together in that time, I imagine. I feel our own marriage has grown so much in just 10 years!
