Back to Normal

Everything is back to normal....no problem with the camera or the computer just a learner operator.  My daughter has now written out a step by step guide for us to follow, time will tell.  My daughter and husband bought there own home about a year or so ago and have been doing it up bit by bit.  They have just given the bathroom a makeover.  She bought a load of white towels in the sales, some Cath Kidston fabric, a Cath Kidston duck towel, a blue polka dot duck and set me to work.  Here are the results.

I had a lot of odd beads that I had bought from a car boot sale that I attached to the tassels, which I though was very effective.

Finished Projects

I would like to say drum roll please........and then produce the photo, but alas I am having problems with the camera.  However I have finished several small items, a canvas covered in Cath Kidson wallpaper with felt lettering SHERIFF BERTIE a quite impressive easy make.  Then a very quick project boot cuffs, the pattern is from issue 14 of Simply Crochet again because of the chunky wool a very quick and easy make.  A very impressive sumptuous scarf using a multitude of textured yarns and beaded strands at each end.   Finally a never ending order of storage bags.  January always brings its own problems, mainly bad weather but one thing never seems to change and that is the lack of storage for all the new things given at Christmas.  I will show you all the variations of the bag once the camera is up and running again. 

Finally, although cold we have a little sunshine today, that always makes you feel a whole lot better.

2014 Plans

As the twelve days of Christmas come to an end and the new year unfolds, I feel rejuvenated and ready for the challenges that lie ahead.  I have plans to open a shop on my website this year so watch this space!  The craft room is back to normal, a working space free of all the pre-Christmas clutter and orders waiting to be collected or posted.  I thank clients old and new for choosing Mamas Mercantile and hope you will continue to do so.

My husband is still getting on with his orders, he is working on a farm layout complete with barn and stables at the moment.  He has a chest of drawers to give a makeover, a shabby chic style with decoupage drawers using Cath Kidston cowboy wallpaper.  Then its on to a new range of children's coat hangers ready for the craft fairs, again watch this space.

I have spent several hours in front of the stove perusing craft books and have come up with a plan for the new craft fair season.  I intend to make rag dolls, clothes and bedding using a Cath Kidston pattern and some vintage style soft animals.  The next stage is to sort out all the fabrics.

I have a new range of crochet cushions that I was working on before Christmas ready, I am now working on a baby shawl for a very soon to be new mum.  I like to have a wool project going for these long winter nights.  Keep safe in this unpredictable weather.

A New Year

A new year, a time to take stock, a time for reflection, a time to give thanks and a time for looking to the future and making plans.  To this end, over the next few days I intend to take the time to plan for the coming  year.  I have had a lot of patterns and books as gifts so it would be nice to browse old and new and formulate ideas for the forth coming season of craft fairs.

Upcycled Bedside Tables



Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to you....these are 2 wooden cookers that 2 lucky little boys received.  They started life as bedside tables and with a little imagination ended up as little cookers.  Add some vintage striped material and you have a tea towel and apron.  Just need to unpack a couple of parcels and the kitchen would be complete....pots, pans and wooden food.
