Charity Shop Finds

The snow left as quickly as it came, the winds have dropped and we are back to some normality, or as normal as it can be on an Hebridean  Island.  We woke this morning to bright sunshine casting some wonderful shadows and dappled lights dancing through the cottage.  Sadly we then had a little rain which gave us a beautiful rainbow.

The photograph doesn't really reflect its beauty, but you get the idea.  One of these days I will run down the croft and try to find the pot of gold, the rainbows are always such a pretty sight one of mystery and  wonder.

Earlier in the week I had a stroll to the village charity shop, they are having a half price sale at the moment so well worth a look.  I wasn't disappointed coming away with a pile of craft magazines for 10p each.  A wonderful way to spend an afternoon, curled up by the stove.

Another great find was some vintage crochet patterns, they are always a delight to find.  Not only a great addition to the collection but another hour browsing by the stove.   I have a plan to crochet some of the doilies and make some cushions for the pew.

I picked up a couple of wooden frames that I intend to paint and do something with, not sure what yet. 10p and 25p so a real bargain.

My final find was a wooden tray for £1, which I intend to paint and stencil.

So lots of finds with some crafting projects in mind.  I am still working on Hectors quilt, slowly but some progress is been made.  I keep getting sidetracked with other things, mainly the kitchen or projects for the kitchen.  Thankfully normal service will resume in there shortly.

The Canadian geese are still residing in the croft behind the outbuilding.  It is a joy to see them along side the sheep, whilst there is no interaction between them they live in harmony with each other.

Changeable is the best word to describe the weather here today, we are now back to blue skies and sunshine.  What is it like in your neck of the woods?

So Many Starts

Finally a start has been made on painting the kitchen.  I am loving the colour and am excited to put some grey accessories next to it.  We are going to lightly sand the worktops and redo them with some Danish oil to tidy them up for awhile.  I have already made some pelmets for the windows which will tie the two rooms together.  The utility needs a lot more work and has become a dumping ground, now this is a room that needs some serious work!  Slow but steady.

There is a slight reflection but you can see the colour, it is called platinum and reminds me of a blue rinse ladies of a certain age had years ago.  It will probably need a couple of coats.  We are now looking at the options for the floor but this won't be done until we complete the utility so that the two rooms can be done together.

I am almost out of blank cards/notelets so I sat yesterday and made a few.  I do need to put some time aside and restock the card drawer, there are a lot of Birthdays coming up.

Simple but effective, perfect for those I thought of you moments.  Definitely simple but still filled with love.

Finally a start had been made on Hectors quilt, progress is slow but at least progress is been made.
