Santa's Little Helper

We woke this morning to dark overcast skies and rain, a good day to get some housework done.  I did get a little carried away with the woodland creatures so coat hangers and a little owl have been added to the pile.

My husband paints the hangers for me, two coats and then using a little sand paper strip some back before finishing off with a stamp and a little wax.

The stamp used was from a set of Cath Kidston stamps that are well loved and used a  lot.  They have been painted in a beautiful shade of green that the light is not showing and finished with a strip of polka dot fabric.

The owl is the perfect addition to the pile, a nursery should always have toys made with love.

I have also made a start on the children's slippers using Crochet at Play book.

Beastie feet for the boys and glass slippers for the girls.

The glass slippers are taking a little working out.  I am not using the correct yarn and I also need to adjust the sizes for the perfect Princess fit.  I am having fun with the process, but it is taking some time to get it right.   They will make a lovely addition to their Christmas stockings.  I love this time of year when my Christmas crafting kicks in and  I like the idea of me been one of Santa's little helpers.  Have you made a start on your Christmas crafting?

See you soon.

Five On Friday

This week has been busy mainly dealing with medical professionals so everything I have tried to do this week has remained unfinished.  I have a terrible earache, whilst there is no infection I have compact wax that needs to be loosed prior to having them syringed.  Dad is back to having the community services visit and my husband has had a increase in his medication which all takes time to order and have delivered.

Not a great week, who knew earache could be so painful.

I have started to make cards that are needed for next month but still have a Fathers Day card to make and a Birthday card for me dear Mum to complete.

I did manage to use some buttons on a couple, which made me smile.

My husband and I have finally got to work on the cupboard that we bought some time ago.  It is now painted and had the new handles put on.   Just some minor adjustments to the doors as they are not shutting properly and it will be complete, ready to be lifted  into the bedroom.

I posted about buying this cupboard on 16 Aug 2014 but am having trouble linking back so that you can see the before picture.  I am ashamed to say it has taken so long for us to do something with it.

I have started to make a piece of artwork, using  printed burlap to cover an old canvas.

Some gold buttons and an old brooch completes the new look.  Just need to add the twine at the back for hanging.

Finally I am in the process of making some hangars for the Grandchildren for little additions to their Christmas stockings.

A start has been made painting them and I have sorted out some Cath Kidston stamps and fabric to finish them, giving them a vintage shabby look.

A topsy turvey kind of week, with nothing really being accomplished.

I am joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the weekly get together.  Hopefully everyone will have accomplished far more than me.  Thank you for your wonderful comments and for your lovely e mails enquiring where I was, sometimes life just takes over like this week.  I will catch up with everyone as soon as can.

See you soon.

Cards and Hangars

I spent quite a fruitful afternoon yesterday making Christmas cards, a little early I know. but this year I am having to do all my Christmas preparation early.  By doing all this now it does mean that I can spend two glorious weeks with Bertie my Grandson without having to worry about cards and such.

I have used Harris Tweed one of my favourite fabrics of all time.  I cut a small rectangle and frayed the edges and then a triangle fraying that also to look like a tree and then put a star embellishment on the top.

Simple but effective...

I am not printing the centres either as I write a letter to my friends filling them in with all our family news.  The card is more of a notelet, as I have said before simple but effective.

I have also painted a hangar for each of the boys for the wedding and stamped them with a dinosaur stamp from the Cath Kidston range.  Not very wedding like but perfect for three little boys who love dinosaurs.

Finished off with a pre-cut dinosaur and their name added.

We are going down to my daughters tomorrow for the suit fittings for the wedding and to meet some of Matthews family so that should be nice.  Sunday is the village craft fair to which I have a table booked, a chance to catch up with some friends and news of local events.  What have you got planned?

See you soon.
