Magical Tour

Its a beautiful day, the sun is shining and the temperatures have improved it was reading 11 degrees C in the car.  There is a little breeze which makes it feel cooler so grab your jacket and I will take you on a little adventure.  You have been here before but each visit is different, it is an everchanging land/seascape.  The constant movement of the sea and clouds in the sky make for a different picture each time you take a photo.  First stop Port of Ness.  The road down to the port is still closed so we parked near the Breakwater, a lovely restaurant/cafe overlooking the port.

Back into the car for a short drive to Stoth beach, one of the family favourites for when the children visit.  It is a small cove with steep cliffs on either side, it has a few caves so perfect for pirates and boisterous boys to wear themselves out.  Today we just stood at the top and didn't venture down, but it was a joy to marvel at the beauty.  We also had the feeling of being watched...

Watching me, watching you!

Our final stop before heading home is the Butt of Lewis and the magnificent lighthouse.

Let me take you nearer the edge of the cliff, make sure you have a firm foothold its a long way down.  I marvel at the beauty that we are surrounded by and feel blessed to live on this beautiful Island with it's unique beauty and splendour.

Back to the cottage for coffee and crumpets, hope you enjoyed this little adventure just as much as I did.

See you soon.

Dancing With Shadows

What a difference to our mood now that the sun is shining and we were able to get out of our cosy cottage for some fresh air and a stroll.  It also helps that Gerard whilst is still in a flare it is now starting to calm down a little as he is now on a course of oral steroids.  They have made a huge difference and he is able to cope once again.  Good news also he has also received his appointment for his MRI scan which is a week Wednesday, we just need to organize flights which we will be able to do on Monday.  Our prayers have been answered.  We appreciate all your well wishes and prayers, they were uplifting when we were a little down.

This afternoon we took a little drive to the Butt of Lewis, to the lighthouse, which is recently been painted and further works have been done to make a small car park and picnic area.  There is a large bus parking area where buses can now turn which will make it easier.  It is a single track road which has a lot of tourist traffic during the Summer months.

The sun was shining but there was still a little breeze, so 'don your hat and coat and let me spread a little happiness with some great views.  I must warn you that this is a picture heavy post but I am hoping you will immerse yourself in the beauty and enjoy them.

The gulls are nesting and are a sight to behold.  There screeching and screaming reaching a crescendo if anyone walked too close to the cliff edge.  We stayed well back so not to disturb them and were rewarded with some amazing views.

The sea was a glorious colour and beat its way to the cliff bottom, hitting the rocks before frothing and recoiling.

It was a joy to be out and about and see the dancing shadows as the sun moved across the sky.  Some areas on the cliff swathed in bursts of sunlight whilst other parts were in darkness.

A real joy to be dancing with shadows and back to our Island adventures.  A warm welcome to new followers I do hope you enjoy our little adventures through life.  As always I thank you for your support, comments and prayers.  Take care and stay safe.

See you soon.

Butt Of Lewis

Here in Scotland those shielding are finally allowed out for a walk.  We have had a walk around the neighbourhood and enjoyed every step, indeed every moment out of the garden and cottage.  After what seems like an eternity we ventured further afield yesterday.  So grab your cameras and sunglasses, a quick 2 minute drive will bring us to the Butt of Lewis and the very famous lighthouse.  How I have missed the glory of these beautiful views.  Each time I visit a different view of an ever changing seascape can be seen.

The foreboding cloud mass a warning on how quickly the weather can change here on our little Island paradise.

Only a few metres away from the edge of a cliff, a board showing the delights of what can be spotted at times in the surrounding area.

It was such a delight to see so many birds nesting in the nooks and crannies of the cliff face.  We stood well back so as not to disturb them, there screeching warning us to keep away.  No binoculars with us sadly but tomorrow is another day...

The little inlets allowing the sea to ebb and flow and crash with great gusto against the rocks.  Each wave reaching its crescendo as it nears land.  The very strength of the water causing froth in some areas as it whirls around below us.

The sun causing a dappled image against the dark grey cliff, a shadowy mass so striking against the white of the crashing waves.  A stark contrast but highlighting the strength of the water.  It was a joy to sit awhile and take it all in, enjoying the sea air and the beauty that we were surrounded by.  Hope you too enjoyed our little tour.  I will share a little whistle stop tour of our favourite cove in the next post.

As always I do thank you for your visit and your warm and welcoming comments from previous posts.  Take care and stay safe in these very strange times.

See you soon.
