I am back from our trip, tired but feeling good. With all the new restrictions around Covid it was good to see my parents and set them up for the Winter. They are both doing well and it was a delight to spend some quality time with them. They have ample food both in the store cupboard and the freezer. My niece goes every week and either takes my Mum to the supermarket or does a shop for them, she has been so good. The tree and decorations are now down from the attic so they can decorate when they are ready. The dogs have been groomed and toe nails cut and another home appointment set up for them so another thing less to worry about. The garden is ready for the Winter and the outside water tap lagged. I felt good leaving them knowing that all is well.
Our only trip out was to the Garden Centre which is annual event for us although this time we didn't eat out. We did however, enjoy the wonderful displays. We had such a fun morning.
There was so much to see, display after display of decor and gifts galore. I did manage to finish off my shopping without breaking the bank. It was a little unusual to see all the face masks and not the shining faces of the pleasure as people wandered around. Good in many ways too that there was not the crowds but maybe that was because we were so early.
I have made a start on the unpacking and the laundry but there is still a way to go. Not least finishing off some of the chutneys and pickles that I like to make at this time of year. It is so wonderful to be back on the Island and in our little cottage, Home Sweet Home and where our hearts are. I will be around to visit you all as soon as I have caught up. But, in the meantime take care and stay strong.
See you soon.
I'm glad you have had a lovely time and were able to make sure your parents are set up for the winter. These are horrible times but I bet your mind can rest knowing that they are safe and secure.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like Brigg! I don't think I will be getting there this year but it's good to see the displays via you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you could make sure your parents are ok and prepared for winter. That garden centre looks lovely. The displays at our garden centres are good as well. One of them has singing reindeer on the wall.

ReplyDeleteHi MM, Welcome back. Your parents look so cute in their masks. That shop looks incredible. Congratulations on getting your parents all set up for the cold weather. Glad you made it back to the island safely.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home after all your travels. You must be relieved to see all is well with your parents and that they are set for Christmas and beyond. It certainly looks really festive everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful that you were able to get your parents all sorted for Winter - they must have really appreciated your efforts and the fact that you could have this visit.
ReplyDeleteThe decorations all look lovely - a lot of the usual Christmas things are cancelled here although they are making efforts to try to get some things safely organized. A lot of people are talking about decorating their homes early so I am looking forward to seeing all the light displays.
Have a bit of a rest before getting stuck into the relish making etc.
I'm glad you had a lovely visit with your family. Now you can rest comfortably knowing they are set for winter. Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. We've missed you, but glad you had the opportunity to go and make sure your parents are set up for the Winter months. Your company and a time out to visit a store must have been much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing displays!
ReplyDeleteSo good that you could visit your family before the dreaded lockdown.
It was nice to read that you were able to see your parents and to know that they are doing well and have food supplies. Even nicer to read that all the holiday decorations are ready for them too. The garden centre really looked decked out, the same as many stores here. It does lift spirits especially in these uncertain times. And yes as nice as it is to getaway, there is truly no place like Home especially your own little cottage.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you go to visit your parents and where there any travel restrictions during or after your travel?
Can't think of Christmas yet (there are three November birthdays in my family) but the displays were tantalizing. Your parents look happy and well cared for which must be comforting for you. Enjoy your return to your happy home.
