Weekend

Yet again intermittent internet has kept me away for the past few days.  I am trying to once again catch up.  Scotland is slowly starting to emerge from its cocoon of lockdown so Gerard and I are able to go a little further and chat to other people ensuring  a safe distance of course.  We are looking forward to getting away and catching up with family, my heart yearns to see them.  We have been able to connect over the internet but it is not the same as been able to chat in person.  My arms ache to snuggle up with our grandchildren and catch up with their adventures.  As we are shielding this probably won't happen for awhile yet but we are getting excited about the thought of it.  The ferries have now opened up and some flights have now been reinstated.  Masks are now mandatory on all public transport and in shops so I have once again made a stack to pass around the village.

I also have several more cut, pinned and ready to sew.

Our daughter has now moved into her new home that they had built so it was a joy to hear our little Grandaughters voice Honey asking me to make her a table cover for her bedroom.  She selected the fabric and trim and it was quickly made up for her.  I also added a mini noticeboard using the same fabric.

Saturday I always prepare our meal for Sunday which this week was roast chicken with all the trimmings.  I  also made quiches and a chocolate cake.

The quiches were made using the eggs from our own chickens and spring onions fresh from the garden.  It is such a delight when we use things we have grown ourselves.  Sadly, we will never become self sufficient but we try to grow some things ourselves.

We do keep having showers and even the odd downpour of rain so you will need a rain coat but it is nice to have a stroll along the machair by Eoropie which is ablaze with colour at the moment. Come along with me...

The ever changing colours of the machair, the sea, the moorland as we go through the seasons adds to the joy of living here.  The natural beauty and colour is  reflected in the making of the tweed which is made on the looms in many of the crofters outbuildings.  The smell of the peat burning in the fireplaces and wafting up the chimneys permeating around the village also adds to the beauty.  All of the senses are treated with the rich majesty of living here.  We are rich and have been fortunate to have found our forever home.  Are you still on your adventures through life or have you found your forever home yet?

Take care and stay safe in these uncertain and very strange times.

See you soon.

  2. So much to say about this lovely post.
Firstly I think the little mini board is brilliant and I'm sure your Granddaughter will love it.
Second the baking is making me want to go out to the kitchen and make something, lol
And finally, I love the cliffs and would love to take a walk across them, I can smell the salt air.
My son lives in Ayr and is often frozen when we are sweating here in Brighton, is it cold where you are as you are so much further North?

  6. My arms are aching to hug my grandchildren. Had hoped to be together July 4 since weren't able to to rodeo this year. Oh well...walk thru this and had nice walk that you just posted. Your quiche would be nice to for breakfast as in right now! Glad your area is opening up some. We're still in 2nd phase and hope stays that way. Going backwards would be upsetting to say the least. Hugs and prayers!

  11. The island of your forever home is beautiful and I would love to live there but it won't happen. My husband is a pastor and we can only move from Norwich when the Lord releases us. don't really like Norwich but there are much worse places.

  15. I do love that you take us along on your walkabouts and I can almost feel the sea breeze on my cheek. We are in our forever home here on our little farm in the Columbia River Gorge. But I also wish that I had a sea view from my home. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. How kind of you to make pretty masks and share them with others. And the table cloth you made for Honey is so sweet and the matching little board is the perfect touch. I can sure understand how hard it must be not to be able to visit your children and grands "in the flesh". Hopefully the day will soon come.
Your quiche inspires me to make one soon. The cake looks great but next on my list of things to bake is a cheesecake. Cream cheese was on sale at a good price so I stocked up. Have a good week. I hope you get some sunny days soon.

  17. What a beautiful set you made for Honey. She will cherish it from her Grandma. Piper also requests things from me and it makes my heart happy to know that she likes the things I make for her.
Your cooking looks so good and the walk along the sea was good for my soul.
I've been busy packing up the house and we are now living in the trailer although I still have lots of packing to do. The home inspection is on Wednesday and I'm praying all will pass with no problems. Obviously we have still not found our forever home yet!
Take care and please tell Gerard hello from Dennis and I.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Glad to hear you're able to travel a little further afield now.

  19. You live in such a lovely place and I love your descriptions of the colours in the landscape which then turn up in the tweed fabric. It must be a lovely feeling when you see someone on the island using one of your pretty masks and also to be able,so quickly, to produce your grandaughter's request for her new home. Your baking looks wonderful:)

  21. You are so well organised with your meal preparation, I think I should follow your lead. I really like the fabric for your masks, it looks like vintage bedding, very pretty. I'd wear that with pride.

  22. The tablecloth and frame is adorable! You quiche's look amazing! I love the landscape. I enjoyed my visit to Scotland - highlands were calling to me from some deep gene pool and I felt connected. Also, how you describe the experience of living there - love it!

  25. Thanks for visiting me. Just needed to let you know my church is online still and will be for quite awhile. We are also still required to wear masks. I love that you are making masks for people in your village. Your food made on Saturday sounds delicious. Quiche with your own eggs, yummm! How lovely to make a tablecloth and message board for your granddaughter. The sights around you are so beautiful. Yes, I think I am in my forever home these days.

  26. Lewis is our dream home! Not quite sure where on the island, we keep looking at the maps. I've always wanted to live near the sea but I suppose wherever you are on the island you're not far away from the sea.

  27. Another lovely post, I love the little tablemat for you granddaughter, great choice of fabric. We were hoping to get up to the Hebrides this year but I think that's now on hold, your pictures of the coastline are fab.

  29. That's a wonderful fabric, so feminine and sweet, that your granddaughter Honey selected. Beautiful pictures of the sea and the cliffs and the bright blue sky. The wildflowers and green grass are beautiful, too.

  31. Your island is such a beautiful place with the sea views and lovely scenery. I'm sure you are longing to see your family and I hope that can happen sooner rather than later. I feel the same as you - we will never be self sufficient, but the garden produce is a delight.

  32. It really looks so beautiful with all those buttercups in the grass near the sea. A glorious place. I expect you're dying to get to see the new house along with the family, I bet you'll have some great ideas for furnishing touches. Let's hope it won't be long.

  33. Your baking looks so yummy and it is always extra nice to have food that you have produced yourself. You certainly live in a beautiful spot. Hope you get to see your family soon, skype or zoom definitely is not the same as real life, but it better than just letters which previous generations had to deal with when apart.

  36. Everything very nice. I'm interested in the Cunndal Memorial. Is it a memorial to the war or a shipwreck? I wish I could stop in and smell the Sunday meal in the kitchen. Phil/MN

  37. I should think that all that sea air must give you a good appetite. I can understand how you long to be with your grandchildren and dream of the day when that happens. We have our local grandchildren close by, pleased to have our granddaughter back with her family and although they're grown up they still like a hug which isn't possible at the moment. Social distancing is strange, but very necessary.

  40. A GREAT SPELL CASTER (DR. EMU) THAT HELP ME BRING BACK MY EX GIRLFRIEND.
Am so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR. EMU and I emailed him and he replied to me so kindly and helped me get back my lovely relationship that was already gone for two months.
