A Summer Adventure

The weather yesterday and today has been amazing, giving us a real feel of Summer.  I am hoping it will last as this week is the HebCelt festival within the Castle grounds and with many other events arranged around the town.  We went into town this morning and already there is a party atmosphere.  Bunting is hung and the shop windows are decorated for the event.  I did try to get some photos but failed miserably getting only reflections.  But I think you can get the gist...

Tents are been put up around the castle grounds adding to the carnival atmosphere.

There was a craft market in the town hall which was inspirational, there are a lot of talented people around on this Island.

It was a delight to take a stroll along the harbour and admire the boats/yachts moored there.  We were laughing about which one we would have when we won the lottery.  (The laugh I suppose is that we never buy a lottery ticket).

The pork was just as good cold as it was warm yesterday.  This time a salad and potato salad, along with pickled eggs.  It was wonderful to enjoy the double yolk.

The sun setting over the croft last night was a beautiful sight, it was a joy to walk down the garden and appreciate the stunning view.

Another adventure in the making...

See you soon.

I hope the weather holds for the HebCelt Festival - it looks like there's lots to see and do, and I would love to see the Crafts - as you said, so much talent.

  7. Enjoyed a catch up this afternoon with you since the middle June, Lorraine! We have had more gray cool days than I have wanted, but they help me really appreciate the sunshine when it comes. So glad you have had craft sorting and making time, and I especially admire the bags you made. A few weeks ago I watched some Christmas movies, but have not planned any gift making yet, although I have been crocheting a potholder I carry in my purse to work on in odd waiting moments. My older sister and I had a great visit when she flew here from July 5-14. Having been reared on poultry farms, one in Massachusetts and the other in Missouri, I have a special interest in chickens although I have never cared for a wonderful little flock like you have. Your cooking looks so good, everything from pretty vinegar to quiche. I love your touring of sites like the historic church and always the awesome ocean and shore. It is fun to see the sheep around you. One way I have washed fleece is in the washing machine in very warm water, but DO NOT agitate it which can felt it. I did spin the water out of it successfully and then spread the fiber on a sheet in the sunshine to dry. While I have not met sheep on challenging paths to navigate, several weeks ago I had to stop on a country road on the way to church to allow a duck family to cross the road:) Praying you and Gerard move forward in good health, and bravo for keeping at your aerobics, Lorraine! xx

  10. Hello Lorraine, I enjoyed seeing the photos of your town as you're getting ready for the fun times. I can only imagine the beautiful crafts that were there. The tents looks really fun.
Now, about that lunch. Oh my! The pork, salad and eggs look absolutely wonderfully delicious. Yum!!!!!
Alex sent me a photo of Regent's Canal in London. Apparently because of the extreme heat there is a green mass of duck weed all over the canal. And you've had extreme cool! The weather seems strange everywhere.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  15. I bet the festival will be a fun time. Double yolks always bring me joy. I wish I lived by the sea and could see sailboats, I find them beautiful and soothing.

  25. Whole community festivities are exciting.

If there's a craft market and meeting of minds (and hands), all the better.

What do you think comes first, Lorraine - artistic tendencies leading people to a place like your island or does the island environment awaken people's creativity?

    Have fun!

Am so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR.
