Last Saturday I joined many other women from all over the Island to take part in a Christian conference, FLOURISH.
What a fun day we had. A wonderful speaker from Edinburgh, some delightful singing of praise. Time for discussion and fellowship with a wonderful lunch. The talk broken down into three sections was on Exodus.
Where is God?
Who is the Lord?
God is the Rescuer?
There was also several stalls to browse, each giving an address on their work. It was an encouraging, uplifting and inspirational day spent with women that I barely knew. Yet I came away having spoken to so many and felt their hand of friendship.
Once home I began my journey of exploring Exodus and throughout the past week have doodled in my Bible so that I can enjoy his word once again.
Whilst creative I am not an artist and admire the skill of many who journal in their bibles. However I do enjoy the process.
I also came away with a lovely gift bag mine held a beautiful pansy, a soap and a bookmark. A lovely reminder of a very lovely day.
Thank you for your visit to my blog and your uplifting comments. A warm welcome to a new follower, I do hope you enjoy my little adventures through life.
See you soon.
That is a lovely Bible you have. I'm slightly confused though - are the doodles done by you or are they printed in? Loving the pansy in the tin can too - gorgeous idea!ReplyDelete
Both. There are some that are printed for you to colour and some that I have done myself.ReplyDelete
Have never seen such a bible !ReplyDelete
I too enjoy the twice weekly meetings I attend at the Kingdom Hall and the association with the brothers and sisters. I love studying God's word. The meetings and bible studies help me to understand what the bible teaches. The bible really is God's word to us. Best, Jane xReplyDelete
How lovely to be able to enjoy the company of like minded people. I am so pleased to read about what was clearly a wonderful dayReplyDelete
It sounds like a wonderful event. It's nice to get together with people, especially those you don't know or don't know very well, and make new friends in the process. Your bible is really lovely and you're making it your own with your wonderful illustrations.ReplyDelete
I loved seeing your bible and your doodle artwork. What a special way to read the word.ReplyDelete
Oh my gosh I love that bible, I’m going to try and find that one! You’ve done such a beautiful job with yours, it’s lovely ! I just bought a new bible and I didn’t see one like that, I bought the new international version in a lovely pink leather, but if I had seen yours I would have bought that, I love it!ReplyDelete
I was going to ask the same questions that "Fugally Challenged" did. What lovely artwork. It makes the Word come alive doesn't it? I'm glad you had such a special time with the other ladies. I think that's really a big part of our faithwalk. Making friendships over common beliefs. I would have loved to attend with you Lorraine.ReplyDelete
Me too, we have ladies groups at my church - Crowned, but I've not been yet. We've not long been at the church that long. I should find out the next date and join in. CxDelete
So nice to read about this event, it sounds a lovely day.ReplyDelete
I think your bible is lovely :)
All the best Jan
What a great time you had and good for you to meet like-minded new friends. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)ReplyDelete
I'm pleased to hear you had a nice time Lorraine, as I said to Betsy above, we have Crowned events for women at our church a few times a year. I've never been brave enough to go. We (my husband & I) go to connect groups which are once a fortnight. My sons go to their own separate ones on the same night - youth and the young adults. Teen 2 in youth is more dedicated but that's probably normal as when you are an adult and work - your own personal commitment is needed as opposed to Mum taking you.ReplyDelete
I've never written or drawn in my bible, maybe I should mark favourite verses as it'd be used more. I bought a new bible last year and am very happy with it. It's a NRSV with horizontal print except the 2 column psalms. Have you seen the Christian colouring books, a friend bought me the Grace one, I think you'd like them. There are 3 now. Take care, Cathy x https://justcardsdirect.com/products_search.php?search_string=colouring+book
It's always fun to be with other Christian women at a convention. Music is a special part I like and hearing His word taught. I'm looking forward to the Beth Moore event in Eugene in July. A great speaker for the Lord! Thanks for sharing! Yes...God rescues us!! Have a blessed day!!xReplyDelete
sounds like a lovely conference. I think you are quite artistic and your bible is beautiful!!ReplyDelete
I love pansies and violas.ReplyDelete
Like some of the other comments I wondered if the artwork in your Bible was yours. It certainly looks lovely.ReplyDelete
I like conferences such as this, getting to meet up with new people and learning in depth about the bible. That is a lovely gift you have received. Have a happy new week.ReplyDelete
Thanks for the inspiration. I have a bible like that and haven't used it in a long time. It's still sitting a top my desk waiting for me. Just maybe today I'll open it.ReplyDelete
I love topics like this one, the event must have been so inspiring and interesting ☺ReplyDelete
Sounds like a wonderful time of refreshing...ReplyDelete
I am guilty of not opening my bible enough. I need to sit down more with the grand children as I purchased a children's large type bible with nice pictures.ReplyDelete
What a nice gift you were given.
I would like to join in on an event such as this you are a part of.
Everything sound so interesting. its good that you got good friends over there.good day.ReplyDelete
