Another Fun Filled Day

Thank you so much for all your comments regarding the bag, it was a kit that came with die cut shapes that I ironed onto some fabric and then stitched to a canvas bag.   I found  the kit whilst on a trip to Florida USA,  an exciting find that cost 50 cents.   It also included a craft sheet so that I can cut out the pattern again.  A real bargain.

I have added some needle cases to the gift cupboard, they are a perfect pop into a card type gift.  A little something to let someone know they are in your thoughts.  I am a great fan of Harris Tweed so this was the fabric of choice and the inner I used felt.

I have also had a little fun with making a soap each for the Grand children.  They really enjoyed using the ones that I made some time ago which included a mini dinosaur.  This time I chose their favourite animal and encased it between two layers with a rather nice Christmas  tree scent.

A quick squirt of alcohol rub soon got rid of the air bubbles and a little push soon immersed the figure completely into the soap.

Soon ready for wrapping and labelling.  This time a wooden button used to enhance the name tag and give them a clue as to the scent.

I can always fill my day and enjoy the process of making and crafting.  I may have to slow down for awhile as I am having an issue with my shoulder but I have plenty of books that I want to read.  Each day is a blessing and I take each day as it comes.  We have no real plans for the weekend.  Have you anything exciting planned on your calendar?

See you soon.

  1. Good morning Lorraine! I love those sweet little needle cases. What a perfect little gift to pop in to a card. That would be so thoughtful. And I think the idea of putting the animals in their soap is absolutely fabulous. Something I would never would’ve thought of but what a fun idea! I hope your weekend is a wonderful one. I have the car almost completely packed and I’ll pick Dennis up at work in about two hours and will be on our way. We have about a 8 hour Drive today, 10 hours tomorrow and 5 the next day and we should be there. Coming home we’re doing it all in two days, so it’ll be a little bit harder trip.
    Many blessings my friend,
    Betsy

  2. You are a wonderful Gran! That is such a lovely idea. I hope your shoulder is soon restored to fitness but, meanwhile, what a wonderful excuse to catch up on some reading.

No special plans for the weekend - sewing some more dolls and reading, if I am permitted to do so! Enjoy your weekend.

  4. I can see the grands washing their hands like crazy to get to “the animal.” 🙂 Hope that reading for a day or two allows your shoulder the break it needs. My big weekend thing is celebrating my daughter’s birthday. That will be fun!

  12. You really are so creative and clever! I can bet that your grandchildren will love to take a bath if it includes a soap made by their beloved grandmother's own hands! Every time I see your handmade needle cases I am determined to make one of my own... but as yet have not. Some day! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  17. The needle cases are lovely and very handy to have too. My mum's still got a needle case that I made for her when I was a little girl. How could any child resist those soaps? I remember you making them before, I'm glad they went down a treat.

  30. The subsequent time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I do know it was my choice to read, however I truly thought youd have one thing interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could possibly fix if you happen to werent too busy on the lookout for attention. betfair online casino
