Formal Introductions

I just had to share this beautiful photo that my daughter took of the girls meeting their new cousin.

 

Wilbur was so proud introducing Hector and telling them that he wasn't big enough to play just yet.  What a joy!

 

The garden planning has begun the seed boxes are out and we are planning to use as many of the free packets that we can without having to buy too much this year.  We have a subscription for Grow Your Own, that comes with free seeds every month.  We call it the gift that keeps on giving...  We are a little late planting up some of the early varieties, but that is life!

 

I have finished the throw for one of the chairs in the craft room, just one more to go.  Drum roll please...for the big reveal...

 

 

I am rather pleased with the finish, a beautiful combination of colours.

 

 

A little something to pop on your knees on a chilly day.

 

I have also made a great start to the labelling for the craft room, painting shapes with blackboard paint which has a really strong toxic smell and gets at the back of your throat.  Hindsight is wonderful, but I really should have done it outside.

 

 

I got lucky with chalk pens in The Works for £2, a real bargain and a system in place to make it easier for others to find what they are looking for.

 

 

Once again drum roll please for the big reveal...

Surprise Visit

I was truly blessed yesterday with a visit from our youngest daughter and her little family.  A last minute arrangement as they were calling in on their way to visit the new arrival.  A wonderful bonus for us.  I was presented with a whole package of gifts including flowers and a wide variety of craft materials for Mothers Day which is next Sunday here in the UK.

 

It wouldn't be a visit to Granny's without some crafting been done.  We had some fun decorating some paper mache eggs and some little bird houses.  Spring is in the air...

 

 

I love spending quality time with them and chatting together as we craft.  Always such a joyous occasion and treasured memories formed to savour at a later date.  A short but very sweet visit.

 

I have finished the infinity scarves and headbands ready for the girls later in the year, a great project for taking out and about as the pattern is so simple and can be picked up and down with ease.

 

 

I have actually stitched the ends in, I must have been too previous with the camera and taken the pictures before they were finished.

 

I have also finished a cushion ready for the nursing chair for Amie, she is back out of hospital and is been visited daily by the midwife.

 

 

It was made using two shades of grey yarn and a set of vintage buttons.  Perfect for the yellow/grey/white colour scheme of the nursery.

 

A start has been made on the singer base, which is going to be turned into a new table for the craft room.

 

 

Finally I am working on a throw for the craft room to give the room a little spruce up for the Spring.

 

 

A zig zag pattern using Arran wool which is not showing the true colour, it has a wonderful fleck running though which goes beautifully with the Cath Kidston fabrics in there.  I have also made a start on labels to make it easier for others to find materials for projects but I will save that for another post.  What are you working on?

Five On Friday

I am back from my very exciting trip to Norwich and have taken a few days to rest up and get back to a slower pace.  I am linking up with Amy over at Love Made My Home for the infamous Five on Friday get together.

Hector James was born on Saturday 20th February weighing a healthy 7lbs 10oz.  Consequently my five this week are five photos of a beautiful new baby Grandson, I am a smitten Granny.

Grandad was a little smitten too.

 

 

I am so proud of my family and have a deep love for them all, there is always enough love for another one.

 

 

Even when he is sleeping, we just sit and admire him.

 

Thank you for all your emails enquiring about my absence and all your wonderful comments on my last post.  It is heartwarming to know that I am missed.  I will catch up with you all as soon as I can,  but may not be around for long as my daughter has just had another spell in hospital so there baby may be born quicker than expected.

Winter Project

Work on my original winter project is slow, I have completed a few more granny squares to add to the pile but in general it is a neglected creation.  On a more positive note I have completed the quilt for our imminent new arrival which I am quite pleased with.

 

I have also crocheted a cushion for the nursing chair which compliments the quilt beautifully.  I added vintage buttons to give it a little style.

 

 

It is now bound with some natural twine and finished off with a painted and stamped bear as a tag.

 

 

I have also made a start on a couple of cowls for the Granddaughters in preparation for next Winter.  I have not had idle hands I am just not working on what I was supposed to.

 

 

Your time will come oh beautiful throw, you will not languish in the craft room forever.  I WILL make a concerted effort to finish you, but I need something small and transportable to take with me as I once again pop down to Norwich to be with my daughter whilst we wait for our new Grandson to arrive.  I leave tomorrow so will not be around for a little while.

Five On Friday

Last weekend was the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch here in the UK, where you counted birds that appeared in your garden for an hour.  Life got in the way and I was unable to participate.  I had however been preparing for the count and had been watching the garden.  There are many visitors to the field and fence behind my house but not as many as I thought to the actual garden.  They are so quick but I did have fun trying to get photos of them.  The quality of the photos are not good but here are five regulars to the fence.

Day's Away

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post, they were all gratefully received.  I must also thank you for your personal emails enquiring if all was well due to my absence of late.  I was humbled by your concern.  There is nothing too sinister going on, our eldest daughter is a couple of weeks off having her new baby and is not too well.  We have therefore, been down to Norwich for a visit to help out with Wilbur.  He is such a joy.  He loved being a Chef and waiting on Mike the Knight .

 

He is a budding artist in the making.

 

 

He is also a super hero saving the universe from evil.
