Return To Blogging

I am back here in the fold of such amazing blogging friends.  Your messages in the comments, emails cards and gifts have been wonderful to read as I return from my travels.  My sincere apologies for not keeping you in the picture but I have been down in England helping to take care of my dear Dad.  As you all know he has been ill for some time but his wish was to die at home.  The family made that possible...he died on 12th January at home where he wanted to be.  It was quite the wait for the funeral but I am now back on my beloved Island, taking life slowly and trying to return to some normality.

It was with great sadness that we also lost our dear friend and companion Mickey our dog just before Christmas.  He went to bed/sleep as normal and never woke up.  He had a good life and I am so glad that he didn't suffer in any way.  It is very strange in the cottage without him, he has left a big hole.

It is my intention to return to blogging as soon as I have caught up with household tasks, mainly washing and ironing.  There is quite the list of tasks actually but I am avoiding the dreaded list...

Hope all is well with you.  Belated New Year wishes to you all!

See you soon.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss of your Dad and dog. Sending up prayers. I am very happy to see your post this morning. I'm visiting my Mom today. She too wants to die at home (was moved to a nursing home last night). Have a blessed week and weekend.

  2. Sorry to read about your Dad and your dog. At least your Dad got his final wish, and your dog died peacefully. Take things slowly, I'm sure there's no rush.

  3. Condolences on the passing of your father and your beloved pet. As you had been absent from blogging for such an extended time, I suspected a family situation required your focus and saddened to read that was the case. I hope that your mom is doing OK.

  11. My dearest Lorraine, I was so happy to see you back in blogland when I opened my computer this morning, but so saddened by the reason you haven't been here with us.
I'm so sorry about your Dad's passing. I know that is one of the hardest things to go through in life, although it is wonderful that he got his last wish, to die at home. I'm sure you all made his last days as special and comfortable as possible and that he was content with all of his family there.
And to lose Mickey too, so suddenly, such a short time before. A blow to the heart to be sure but I also know that you're very happy that he didn't suffer. Dennis and I well know how hard it is to lose a beloved dog. We were sure we wouldn't get another dog and now, here we are with our little Zoey, who is a heart cheerer upper for sure.
Take care my dear friend. Let life go by at a slow pace while you catch up on everything. I'm glad you're home on your beloved island again.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about your dad, it's such a hard thing to lose a parent but I'm glad you were able to spend some time with him, and most important, keep him at home as he wished. Also, Mickey, I know what a big part of the family our furry friends are and the big hole they leave behind. Sending my heartfelt condolences on both of your losses xx

  51. I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I'm glad that you were able to be with him and that he was able to pass at home. Please take it easy on yourself. Having lost Mum in July I know it won't be easy and there are times when you feel you shouldn't still be grieving but do it in your own time. I wish I could give you a gentle hug.
