The Beauty Of A Rainbow

Time has flown by once again.  Our little cottage is now back to normal, clean and tidy after the departure of our visitors.  It is so quiet, so the radio has been on quite loud for a couple of days to compensate.  All the linen for the beds and towels have been washed, dried and ironed, all ready for our next lot of visitors.  I have all kept myself busy in the kitchen batch cooking for the freezer.  I have also made a start on drying out some of the herbs ready for Winter stews and casseroles.  We have had an amazing crop of rhubarb this year, so I have cooked several batches ready for crumbles later in the year.  The garden is a little slower than usual in producing salad crops, I think that may have been the awful weather we had in May.  We have had several days of sun and it is starting to look a lot better, so I am hopeful for a good crop.

We did have a wander around the garden centre when we did our trip to town last week.  We came back with a beautiful lavender plant, which is smelling divine already.  I do miss the lavender we had in our old garden so it is nice to have it back in our herb garden.

I am blessed with a wonderful son in law who is good with technology so both the computer and my phone is now back up and running.  I am now having problems with my camera and downloading photos, I am sure I will work it out eventually.  There have been so many updates of late it is hard to keep up with it all.

The doorstep blessings project has come to an end as we start to emerge out of this lockdown and try to get our lives back on track into a semblance of normality.  I feel honoured to have been part of the project and know that it gave such a lot of pleasure to so many.  It gave me something to do and kept me busy so I am thankful.  I am now moving on to making a start for Christmas.  I have made a list which changes as I gather my thoughts or find a new pattern but it is almost firm now so I intend to start gathering the materials together for each project and making a start.

I will leave you with a beautiful photo of a rainbow from last week.  We are blessed with living in a beautiful part of the world but sometimes we don't always take the time to appreciate the beauty.

As always I thank you for your visit to my humble blog and thank you for your comments on my last post.  I found it really interesting to learn about the restrictions in your areas.  Vaccination seems to be the answer and thankfully it does seem to still work against the different variants at least for now.  We were finally allowed to sing at Church last Sunday, but I must admit it did seem strange singing with a mask on.  Hope all is well with you and that life is good.

See you soon.

  1. It's always strange when the house has been full with visitors to then be back to just the two of you, I'm sure the rest of your family will be making plans to come and see you before too long. A beautiful rainbow.

  3. No matter how I use it, I just can't like rhubarb! I can't imagine singing with a mask on, it's hard enough even talking. I do feel for those who have to wear them all the time, so try not to complain when I only have to wear one for a short while.

  9. I remember ironing bedsheets when younger! It makes them so nice and crisp. I had to smile at your playing of the radio to help compensate for the quiet after visitors leave. We do that, too!

  10. I too like the radio on for company if the house is feeling a bit quiet. Smiled at your mention of Christmas then realised it's June already and by August the shops will be filling up with Christmas stuff.

  11. It is SO wonderful to be able to sing in church again!

  12. Such a pretty rainbow. I have been enjoying my rhubarb harvest this year, too. It seems to like being fed compost tea. It sounds like you have gotten lots of cleaning and laundry done. I am working on the same...

  14. Beautiful photo of the rainbow! And those cute lambs that are getting quite big.
I am also having a problem downloading my pictures from my camera to my computer. I'm not sure where the problem lies. I hope I can get some answers soon.

  16. Nice sheep! Lovely rainbow. Our church is open with no mask/face coverings needed. I am glad you had a good time with your family. Always something to do at home. I was lazy on Friday and didn't do much but did some things online that was needed to be done. A bit of cleaning each day works for me! Have a blessed and happy weekend and next week too!! God bless you and Gerard!! *Becky*

  17. By the way... you don't have to cook rhubarb .. just slice and freeze in a sealed plastic bag. Just like you buy it in the grocery store.

  19. A visit from family members is the best tonic. I'm sure you're missing your visitors, but planning for future holidays. Meanwhile you always seem to keep busy and you see wonderful things such as the rainbow to lift your spirit. Best wishes for a good Sunday and week ahead to you and Gerard.

  20. I "listen" to the signs in nature. We've had 4 wonderful double rainbows in the past 3 weeks. Thats more total than I've seen in a few years. We've had incredible sunsets too...glorious. Our rhubarb was massive as well. I had to cut it back as it froze and I pulled out the wilty leaved ones. I already have so much more. I was told it could make you sick if you eat it once it froze. I don't know the truth in it, but I thought better safe than sorry. Lovely post as always.

  22. Hello!
So happy to see you had visitors and enjoyed the time together! What wonderful days you must have had! Thank you for sharing the photos, and for always being a bright spot in my day!

  23. I enjoy the photos of the sheep. You seem to be busy with preparing food with your herbs, and filling your pantry for future meals. It's strawberry season here, and making jam is on my schedule for this upcoming week. I will fill two shelves in the freezer with it. Washing bedding and towels from our family staying here is also on my schedule for the week. Labors of love. xxoo

  28. I love my lavender plant, too! As if blooms I bring in the sprigs and have it all over the house. Beautiful rainbow. We’ve had a lot of rain lately but not a single rainbow. I love to see the sheep with their little lambs.

  29. A passing whiff of lavender always reminds me of my Gran. Lovely memories and lovely smell. Beautiful photo of the rainbow....they are magical :-) Very glad you enjoyed time with the family and there are plans for more visits soon. For the first time ever I am thinking about Christmas prep already LOL! I am so hoping the choir will start up in the social centre again in September. I enjoy a good singsong makes me happy. The authorities are talking about reducing the use of masks here in July. They say all going well it will not be necessary to wear masks outdoors only in large establishments or events. Do hope so it is too hot for masks! Keep well Amanda x

  32. I have been on blog Sites for a while now and today I felt like I should share my story because I was a victim too. I had HIV for 6 years and I never thought I would ever get a cure. This made it impossible for me to get married to the man I was supposed to get married to even after 2 years of relationship. He broke up with me when he found out I was HIV positive. So I got to know about Dr. Itua on a Blog Site who treated someone and the person shared a story of how she got cured and let her contact details, I contacted Dr. Itua and he actually confirmed it and I decided to give it a try too and use his herbal medicine. That was how my burden ended completely. My son will be 2 soon and I am grateful to God and thankful to his medicine too.Dr Itua Can As Well Cure The Following Disease…Alzheimer’s disease,Bechet’s disease,Crohn’s disease,Parkinson's disease,Schizophrenia,Lung Cancer,Breast Cancer,Colo-Rectal Cancer,Blood Cancer,Prostate Cancer, siva.Fatal Familial Insomnia Factor V Leiden Mutation ,Epilepsy Dupuytren's disease,Desmoplastic small-round-cell tumor Diabetes ,Coeliac disease,Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease,Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, Ataxia,Arthritis,Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis,Fibromyalgia,Fluoroquinolone Toxicity
