Missing In Action

My goodness how time is flying by.  I can't believe how long it is since I have been on or near the computer.  I would like to make some sweeping statement or give you an explanation but in truth I have none.  The weather here this past week or so has been atrocious, making it hard to leave the cottage.  RAIN, rain and more rain has been the order of the day.  Thankfully today we seem to be faring a little better and the breeze is helping to dry the sodden ground.  The skies are starting to lighten a little and there are  wisps of cloud forming.  Each day the light is lasting a few seconds longer, the days are getting longer.  I think I preferred the freezing temperatures and the snow but whatever the weather front, it is not making it conducive to walking across the moor or the beach.  I am looking forward to getting out and about once again.  It seems to have been a long Winter and lockdown has not made it any easier.

I continue to create little doorstep gifts for the church project and have started to look at books for some Easter projects  for the Grandchildren.   I have yet to be inspired but I am sure a little perseverance and I will be rewarded.  The dolls house continues to be a slow work in progress, a few minutes here and there.  The jigsaw we finally finished and have decided not to get another one out as yet.  Maybe we should try something different.  I am eagerly awaiting news of the route map out of lockdown, I am sure it will make an interesting read.  England reveals the route map later today, Scotland tomorrow.  For my three daughters sanity I do hope there will be a return to school.  Although our youngest daughter who is a maths teacher at a senior school is a little worried about the safety for herself and her pupils.

Gerard has had a flare up of RA and is finding it hard to come out of.  The usual course of action when it is this severe is a steroid injection but due to Covid this is been difficult.  It is awful watching your loved one in so much pain knowing there is nothing you can do to help.  His last blood test showed quite a jump in the PSA levels (he has been monitored for a few years for prostrate cancer) so he is waiting for an appointment for an MRI scan and it was suggested that he should now consider a biopsy.  It is quite the ordeal constantly waiting for appointments.

On the whole we have a lot to be thankful for and are filling our days.  I can only apologise for my lack of visits to your blogs, I will try to visit over the next few days. I also intend to try and get out for a walk with the camera, a great way of lifting spirits is to see the beauty that surrounds us.  Hope all is well with you and that you are coping with the restrictions/regulations that we live with.  Take care dear friends and stay safe,

See you soon.

  4. Hopefully Gerard will be seen quickly and given appropriate treatment. Rain needs to go away, skies need to brighten then we will all feel better.

  5. Oh, I hope Gerard can be seen quickly. I will be praying. Our future DIL sent me a copy of the plan to ease restrictions for the UK. It sounds quite promising. They are hoping to begin to be able to plan their wedding that has been postponed twice becasue of COVID.
It's supposed to rain here this afternoon and hopefully will wash some of the snow away. I'm really tired of seeing white everywhere this year.
Take care my dear friend. Stay positive and in prayer. It works. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I hope Gerard is feeling better today and can get a proper checkup soon. I bought a family set of jigsaws online from The Works. £10 for 8 jigsaws feels like a bargain and we are half way through them all now.nThey are blimmin addictive.

  8. Oh gosh, ((BIG HUGS)) as you must be so worried about your husband.

The weather coming your way doesn't look too pleasant - hope it is soon through and gone.

Looking forward to the gradual easing of Lockdown though we have enough local walks to keep us occupied for the moment.

  9. Hope Gerard is feeling better and can get the medical help he needs soon. I hope the lockdown is eased. I hope the light at the end of the tunnel arrives sometime soon so I can see my Mum again. That's all I want.

  10. It sounds as though the lockdown will be eased, not too quickly one hopes. It may mean that you have access to the medical treatment. So sorry to hear of the problems, it must be a worry.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear that Gerard is feeling poorly. I can imagine the damp days are hard on him. The complications of the lockdown and his medical care is concerning. Hopefully the sun will come out and shine for better days ahead.

  13. I live in an area with the number of physicians being far below the national average. Not only does it take months for a simple appointment, but the doctors tend to cancel them and back you go to the back of the queue. Hoping for the best for your husband's health problems.

We have alot of rain today and was so chilly outdoors Sunday we didn't go on a walk. I sent in living room and went through a few news papers and saved some cartoons to send to Megan in a box I am mailing her soon. Take care and stay warm, healthy and blessed!!! xx

  16. I hope Gerard will soon be able to see the doctor and have his appointments - and then feel much better. The days are lengthening noticeably here, too, and that is a hopeful sign that spring can't be far off.
Stay well, and keep looking up!

  18. You're in good company dealing with the struggle of maintaining a good frame of mine during this eternal strain of Covid and the winter and lack of light. I'm sorry Gerard is ailing, poor guy. Maybe Spring will bring him relief. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  19. I'm sorry to hear about the health worries. It's hard to see loved ones in pain so I hope Gerard gets medical relief soon and you also get better weather. Mr P and I find that damp weather doesn't help aching joints and bones. The planned programme for easing of the lockdown seems complicated. We continue to hope for the best. It's still very challenging. Take care both of you. Love, Linda.

  20. This Winter has been so dreary and waiting for appointments with rain thrashing down outside is just the worst. Things will hopefully brighten up as the daffodils spring to life. Take care.

  21. I hope Gerard gets some relief from his RA soon and that he can get an appointment for the MRI scan. This virus is making it a struggle to get seen for other health issues at the moment, let's hope the vaccine starts working soon.

  23. Wishing for the best for Gerard. The cold, rainy weather does not make one want to go for a walk. I would rather walk in cold in snowy. I am sure that the lockdown is not helping anything. I hope you find yourselves coming out of it soon.

  25. So sorry to hear that Gerard is suffering. It's a nightmare situation when you feel ill and can't get to see the GP or a Consultant quickly. I'm still waiting for my skin cancer op and hubby has been awaiting an MRI scan for months. I do hope Gerard can been seen quickly. Sending hugs x

  29. Sorry that Gerard is feeling so poorly. Saying a prayer right now for relief and the opportunity to see healthcare soon. Praying, too, that the lockdown eases. The winter has been long enough without extending lockdown restrictions. May the sunshine return...

  31. Sorry to hear Gerard isn't well. It must be really frustrating for you not to be able to get that injection straight away. From what I hear on the news you will soon be out of lockdown. That should be a relief for you. I look forward to the photos of your island which I always enjoy. stay safe Amanda x

  34. Nice to read a new post, Lorraine, even if the news about Gerard's flare-up was not the best. Hope he is able to get some relief soon. There are many others who would also welcome a return to school for students as if not what will buildings be needed for in future? Hope your weather improves although being indoors on nasty rain days does feel cozy and you most likely have some wonderful comfort food meals, as always.
