Keeping Busy

I have been keeping myself busy with little projects, making it easy to fill my days.  Firstly, the humble chicken was roasted on Sunday for a roast dinner.  Monday more of the chicken was used to make a curry.  Today, the remaining chicken breast was used to make a chicken in pepper sauce dish with pasta and salad.  I have just finished boiling the bones and remains of the legs to make a chicken and rice broth for the freezer, its always handy to have some soup ready.  There was no waste but equally there was plenty of meat so the chicken has made 4 meals for 2 people.

The dolls house has been moved downstairs from the attic bedroom, making it easier to work on.  Gerard has also been down to the outbuilding to gather together any materials needed to work on it.  Today we worked on the roof.

One side both painted and the slate outlined, the other side painted waiting to be outlined and affixed.  Gerard made a start on looking at the electrics to see what is required.  It is a slow but very enjoyable project.  We both enjoy doing the research for it as well so new skills will be learnt along the way.

My doorstep delivery project will be ongoing for some time so I will be adding to it on a regular basis.  I will share anything that I do that is different.  More embellished paper clips for bookmarks or journals have been added.

I have also been working on gifts for my gift cupboard so I have made a selection of Harris Tweed brooches, they are a perfect gift to pop into an envelope.

They are all ready for when I need a gift.  Bibs and teething rings have also been made in preparation for a baby due in the Spring.

We have had plenty of rain but as yet no snow for which I am truly thankful.  It is making for some stunning rainbows.

I am keeping busy and filling my days well for which I am thankful.  I am also very thankful for all of you who visit and for new followers, I do hope you enjoy my little adventures through life.  Thankfully we remain in Tier 3, there has been an outbreak on Barra so that more than 10% of the population is now in isolation.  As expected they have now been moved to Tier 4.  The roll out of the vaccine appears to be going well here on the Island, for that I also give thanks.

Hope all is well with you wherever you are in the World.  Take care and stay safe.

See you soon.

  1. I like the flowers you made from the Harris Tweed fabric. I like the flowers on my roll with writing utensils inside and journal. Such a crafty sweet friend you are! I saw a red clothespin on my refrigerator the other day. It has a flowers made out of fabric that is pasted on it. I got that one from a Women's retreat with our church friends years ago. We've not had one until 2019 but i didn't go as I had something else to do, as a vendor the following week and needed to finish what I was doing. It was cold with a.m. I looked outside and there was a bit of frost on the grass and frost on neigbhor's house across the street! Take care!

  2. I do indeed love following along on your adventures and crafting. I'm very nosy! Especially with crafts and how others are handling the lockdowns. The bibs/teething rings look so professional. And the tweed flowers are just beautiful.

  4. Lovely crafts, you are now well stocked for "come what may"! Ditto here with the chicken although I cheated and bought a rotisserie chicken already cooked. Soup made today and the second meal to follow. Then tomorrow will be chicken fajitas and next day a chicken salad. That should do it!

  6. Your tweed brooches are lovely, and carry the flavour of your island home with them. The baby things are so sweet. Roast chicken gets used much the same here, making several meals for the two of us.
I always enjoy reading about life in your comfortable and cozy cottage.

  7. Beautiful rainbow! We've had 2 whole days with no rain and I was puttering outside today. Found 2 nice clumps of Chives growing. Tomorrow it will be cloudy and no doubt we'll have some rain again. That's January. Keep well.

  8. Good Morning Lorraine. I enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful clips and brooches. You are so creative.
I do the same with a chicken. Dennis and I can get 4-5 meals from one baked chicken.
Your dollhouse will give you so many hours of enjoyment as you and Gerard work on it together. What fun, choosing decorations and fixtures. :-)
How soon will you two be able to get the vaccine? Dennis will be eligible soon, but I'm not in a group for quite some time.
I pray for you both to stay well every day. I pray that soon this will be a horrible memory for the entire world and we'll be able to live our lives again.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  9. Thank you for sharing all your crafty makes, you are an inspiration. You're lucky to have a view of the rainbows. Our house doesn't have much of a view. I hope you get your vaccine soon - Dayle found out he can get his on Thursday at the Veteran's Administration clinic. I unfortunately am going to have a month or more. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  10. Where was Mickey's share of the chicken, haha. Archie loves it when we have chicken as he gets his fair share of the leftovers. It will be fun following along with your dolls house adventure, it's nice that you and Gerard have a project you can work on together.

I love your little paper clip toppers. What sort of glue do you use to hold the buttons (I am assuming they are buttons) on the tops?
