My goodness how time is flying by, it seems only yesterday that I was uploading photos for my last post and yet it was over a week ago. I am pleased to say that we have both had our flu jabs and are thankful for it. There is talk already that there will not be enough to go around. There is also talk of difficulties with blood tests but, again I am thankful that Gerard has had his routine monthly tests done. Long may that last. The numbers are still rising of cases of Covid on the Uists which is a worry. But once more I am thankful that it hasn't reached our little Island yet. It seems that I have a lot to be thankful for and truly feel blessed. More restrictions have been imposed by the Scottish government and I believe more to come from the UK government with a 3 tier system proposed for England. Time will tell. These constant changes make planning so difficult. It would be nice to make some definite plans to see the family.
I find it easy to fill my days, as does Gerard. We always have so many projects that need doing and that we enjoy. I have signed up for a Bible journaling conference. I did something similar last year and really did enjoy it and learnt a lot. I also signed up for a 5 day Prayer and Possibilities prompt, which is about being intentional about developing your relationship with God. It has given me an insight about exploring some different ways to be more creative with my prayer time and devotionals. I am at the moment creating a prayer journal which is a great joy.
I am also enjoying my preparations for Christmas, I know its early but with all that is going on I want it to be special. A start has been made on some of the cards and gift tags. This years design is a little intricate but worth all the hard work. Starting early has given me plenty of time to get them done. We plod on each day enjoy the beauty that surrounds us and are thankful for our little cottage and the security that it gives us.
Hope all is well with you and that you have a lot to be thankful for...
Take care and stay safe.
See you soon.
We all have much to be thankful for, don't we? Christmas is not so far away and I have, at least, been thinking that I need to get busy. I am not in the least surprised that you have been. A blessed weekend to you and Gerard.

DeleteGlad all is well. I'm trying to start thinking about the holidays but I think things will be drastically different this year. I am thinking about crafty things and hopefully people will appreciate them knowing I put time and love into them!
ReplyDeleteIt's very hard to plan for Christmas this year with everything which is going on. We've got local restrictions here so if nothing changes Daniel and Jasmine won't be able to come home for Christmas, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we see some improvement and restrictions can be lifted.
ReplyDeleteWe count our blessings as we're better off than many. Like you we shelter in our home and feel thankful for the benefits we enjoy there. Your journaling sounds like a creative way of putting down thoughts, favourite scripture verses and developing your prayer life. I hope you and your husband continue to stay well and you get the regular health checks you need. All the best to you both and your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteGlad you and your husband are alright !

The journalling conference sounds very interesting - maybe you will blog about it?
ReplyDeleteGood morning Lorraine. I was very glad to read that Gerards bloodwork has gone without a hitch and that you both got your flu shots. So did Dennis and I. I had about 24 hours where I didn't feel well afterwards but I think everything is fine now.
ReplyDeleteOur numbers are going up drastically here and many other places in the US but they are still loosening restrictions. I can't figure that out. Dennis and I are still mostly staying in. He goes to work but I stay home and am rarely around others. When I am, I have a mask on and use lots of disinfectant.
Do you follow Shaz in Oz? She has two blogs and on her "Wonderful Words of Life" blog this week she shared how she colors Bibles for herself and other based on the verses. It was really interesting and I'm thinking of doing it myself.
Christmas will indeed be different this year. Our son and two grandchildren are still planning to spend the holiday with us but I think we'll have to get them a hotel room as the trailer would be very small for all of us now that the children are teenagers. I have made a few gifts but not much else.
Take care my dear friend and please give our regards to Gerard too.
Blessings,
Betsy
at hubby and my age we are just thankful we are still here together
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear all is well in your neck of the woods. The pandemic is such a nuisance when it comes to planning. I have to admit to buying a frozen turkey already, just in case!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your post....found my way here by way of another and then another. Oh my, not sure. But I sure did enjoy stopping by:)
ReplyDeleteIs the journalling conference online and can anybody sign in. I might find that interesting and uplifting. Glad you are ok on your island and pray it keeps that way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely positive post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your island remains a safe refuge from the virus. I hope it stays that way. We are on an island of our own trying to stay alive. Frightening times. Luckily I enjoy staying home. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful that your island is safe, long may it last.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and sound in your cozy cottage, my friend. I am also starting to do things for Christmas. Who knows what the months ahead will bring. Have a cozy evening!
ReplyDeleteHaven't thought about Christmas yet - we celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend. I am just hoping to be able to be with family at Christmas as, so far, it is being discouraged. Fingers crossed things improve in the next two months!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have lots of different projects to fill ones days. It's great to hear you're both staying well.
ReplyDeleteI am starting to think about Christmas. I usually have a hard and fast rule of no Christmas until Thanksgiving is over but this year I feel like I need to be more prepared.
ReplyDeleteSince it is Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend I truly am trying to be grateful for all that I have. Last week I had my pneumonia shot and yesterday I had my flu shot. I had stopped in at the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions and just asked if the flu vaccine was in yet. They said yes, but I said I'd stop by next week then - they checked my file and told me that the doctor had me down for the "super shot" and they were already low on that so I should really just get it done - so I did. Very grateful that they thought to persuade me.
ReplyDeleteI work for my church and we are about to start two new Bible Study classes - one on a Monday night and one on a Thursday night - both via Zoom - in addition to the regular Sunday morning class. They have proven to be very popular during this pandemic, as has our weekly Service on Youtube! What would we have done without all this technology to keep us connected!
Stay safe - can't see what you do for all your Christmas gifts - you are always so creative!
I think you are doing a good job of prevention against the scourge. It seems your preparation for Christmas is smart, as you don't bring on the celebration too early. It never hurts to be prepared.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful to hear the good reports on Gerard's blood work, and that you have few cases in your island, what a blessing! It is true, there are always so many projects around the house, but you are wise to start thinking about Christmas, I need to do the same! I hope you get to enjoy your family soon. Many blessings :)
ReplyDeleteBible Conference sounds so great! I love online conferences like this, have a lovely weekend ☺
ReplyDeleteloved reading about what you are looking forward to, here where I live the numbers are going up because of the college students. I limit my outings and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteYes there is a lot to be thankful for and like you I keep very busy. We have regular bible meetings on Zoom which has been wonderful. No flu jabs for us yet as they have run out in this area.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky on your little island, here the virus infections have increased and there are new rules since today ! Hard to follow ! I fear Christmas this year, because we are not allowed to travel into another country and the other way around. So if Belgium and Holland don't change and remain red, we will be alone on Christmas ! Never happened !
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Covid has not reached your island and I hope it never will! As I am sure you know, here numbers that were going down have suddenly skyrocketed as every last thing opened and there is no plan to let it do anything but run it’s course. Our only hope is a vaccine — and a change in the political situation of the country.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are preparing things for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sandra
Hello, Lorraine. The Bible Journaling conference sounds like it would be very interesting. Perhaps next year I'll get into something like that. I've started a few Christmas preparations, but until November 10, I'm teaching full time and it's leaving me with little energy to do very much else. Little by little things will get done, though.
ReplyDeleteHi Lorraine, glad you are filling your days with enjoyable projects whilst staying safe. Jo xx
ReplyDeleteI am very thankful that though the virus infections have increased recently in Norway, we are lucky to have relatively low levels of infection and it seems to be under control. It is great that it has not reached your island. I am also very greatful that we can have our regular meetings in our Christain women's group. It is a blessing to have an interest in crafts, I love knitting.
ReplyDeleteYour projects for Christmas sounds very nice!
So glad you are safe on your island. I would love to be on a far away island and feel the winds and hear them. Love hearing about your crafts. I am in the process of making grands some capes. The virus I read is possibly losing strength and I just keep up with my vitamin C and zinc as I have always taken like my mom who is 98.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday, Betsy
It is good to hear that the two of you are doing so well. It's best to be as careful as possible and to not let this life get us down. Our Lord is with us through all that we do and He is our strength and our comfort. God bless you both,
ReplyDeleteConnie :)
You are amazing. I've had a difficult day today, I've felt very upset and anxious about the Covid situation and had a little cry this afternoon, and here are you, completely upending my perspective and finding reasons to be thankful. Thank you. I'm glad you are safe and I'm glad I'm safe too. Take care. x
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your flu shots. I have never had one. I eat fresh celery each morning, a half cup of cilantro in my daily salad, and two cloves of garlic each day. Works for me. Spiritual time is so important.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to read that all is well with your and Gerard.
ReplyDeleteI agree; with Covid 19 still very much around it is not easy to plan anything is it.
Wishing you a good week ahead.
Stay safe and well.
All the best Jan
Yes, we are thankful as well, Lorraine, that we remain in good health. We too made sure to get the flu shot. The virus numbers are said to be on the upswing in Nashua, NH as of last week. We were tested (again) and our tests were negative. We went for re-testing as a restaurant I had eaten in was closed down the following day to a reported corona virus case.
ReplyDeleteWell said! We are have much to be thankful for, especially now. And yes, time flies.
