Beautiful Begininings

The weather is so unpredictable at the moment, torrential rain and wind one minute bright and sunny the next.  A little pottering as been done in the garden but no major jobs as yet, the list just keeps increasing.  Let me take you for a stroll around while it is dry, although the lawn is sodden so watch where you are walking.

Mother Nature as her finest, the rhubarb starting to unfurl from its Wintery sleep.

Mint starting to spread its bounty.

Lemon Thyme, flourishing and sending out a beautiful aroma already.

Lavender starting its regrowth, can you see the difference in colour?

Strawberries starting to come alive from a long Winters sleep.

There are pots and pots of daffodils dotted around all over to let us know Spring is in the air.

Pots and baskets rejuvenated to their former glory with a little sunshine and a feed here and there.

Seeds have been potted up and already starting to push their way through the soil.

A start has been made, all the window sills in the house are filled with pots, some are now ready to be transferred to the plastic greenhouse to harden off but with all this wind I don't think it would last long.

When it rains I have plenty to keep me occupied.  I have made a start sorting out the vintage ribbons and enjoyed every minute of looking at them, remembering where they came from.  Each one with its own story.

A little lace has sneaked in, the beauty and the pleasure it gives thinking of new ways to reuse it.

I have made the final canvas now that Honey has arrived.

Honey has also been added to the wall of fame.

There is still plenty of scrapbook pages to catch up with and crochet and ...the list is endless.  What's keeping you busy?

See you soon.

  2. Oh my goodness, from the news it sounds like your weather is oppressive! I'm glad you have good things to do indoors.
Our weather is cold and not conducive to gardening. I love your blooms and found them quite encouraging!

  5. My goodness your garden is looking wonderful. It's been so cold here nothing except my rhubarb has been brave enough to begin to come up. We are expecting temperatures almost 70° by the weekend though so I'm looking forward to that. I love your basket of ribbons. So pretty. I can just imagine the history that each one has. And look at you! You already have completed projects with your new baby's picture in them! I find that amazing. Have a lovely day and stay warm.

  11. Your plants and flowers look wonderful considering all of the bad weather you've been having. I'll bet it smells so wonderful in your garden!! Our lavender is starting to perk up a bit. The previous owners planted a bunch of it and it's definitely going to be staying where it is. Lots of other stuff will be going though. There is no rhyme or reason to the garden beds at our new house. It looks like they just stuck stuff in the ground randomly. My mother is going to be our new gardener and my son Connor and I are going to be tending to the vegetable garden. Really looking forward to it. I hope you had a wonderful Easter!! xoxo

  16. Wow! What a fun post. Your garden is looking good and all those seeds started already is very impressive. I posted today and titled my post Out Like A Lamb, and then after I hit publish the March winds came up so hard that it even turned my porch rocker over and we had another frost last night. That's March for you . . . hopefully we will get milder weather in April.
    Happy Spring!

  23. I have just scrolled down to 'meet' your darling little Honey Rose! Congratulations! Lovely to see the family so happy at Easter, too. The gardens are coming along nicely, it seems, and that box of ribbons is wonderful. I have been busy in the garden today after weeks of horrible weather and crocheting a sweater for my little grandson's first birthday soon. So happy for you that Mother and baby are well and she is so beautiful! Hugs xo Karen

  33. Catching up with your news. Glad you had a blessed Easter and all well with family. Hope your Dad goes on well though. It's good to be able to see plants sprouting and the ones inside progressing. The photo boards look lovely. Enjoy your crafting. We still have family going in and out at the moment, but also thinking about a change of scene in April.

  34. Hi Lorraine, wow, I'm impressed by your garden and plants! Here things are still behind, I feel. The neighbours magnolia tree is only just flowering now. Ah well, I'm sure once the warmer weather is here to stay then I will get down with planting and tending! I love doing that as much as you do!

    Honey Rose looks real cute!

    Take care,
