I have made a start with the mermaid tail, using a pattern from Crochet at Play Kat Goldin, the pattern is for 0 - 6 months so I am having to modify it slightly as I want it a little larger. Time will tell how this pans out.
So far it is working out well using two strands of yarn together to get the correct thickness. The photos don't show it well but there is a slight sparkle going through one yarn which makes it pop, yet retaining the lovely softness required for a baby.
It is certainly growing quickly so I don't think it will take much time to complete as long as I stay focused.
The problem I have is that I have more than one project on the go at anyone time. I am also working on the throw for my daughter.
The lighting is not very good it is a lovely charcoal grey Arran yarn, so not really showing its true colour. I have made a good start and am enjoying the process. It certainly helps now that the temperatures have dropped slightly making it so much easier to work with larger project on your lap.
Have you got any winter project plans?
I am not a crafter or knitter, but what a cute idea that is.
ReplyDeleteI actually squealed when I saw the mermaid tail....how flippin' gorgeous is that!!!
ReplyDeleteI have several quilts I should be working on but am just not in the mood at the moment-x-
The mermaid's tail is so cute and what a soft pretty grey that is.
ReplyDeleteCute mermaid tail. You have so many projects to keep you very busy! Have a beautiful day!

A good start on both projects. :)
ReplyDeleteSo very cute! A mermaid tail blanket for your grand daughter! The yarn is the perfect colour!
ReplyDeleteI love the charcoal throw you are working on too!
How cute is that mermaid tail, I think the two yarns together give a lovely effect. I'm really in to grey at the moment and I'm sure the throw will grow quite quickly with it being knit in an aran weight yarn.
ReplyDeleteI quite fancy a mermaid tail! It is going to be lovely, I can see this already.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I just bought the yarn for a mermaid blanket for Piper for Christmas. That girl is enthralled with mermaids.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Bravo on your mermaid tail and your throw too.. you're such a good mom and grandmother. It's cooled off here too. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence. Just this morning I was at a craft fair and saw Mermaid tails. I had never even heard of them before. They looked very cute and cozy.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on your wonderful projects.

You have two very pretty projects in the works. I can just see a little of the sparkle in that yarn.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to do a mermaid tail! You have an ambitious list of projects here. I am taking a knitting class soon to get some help with my stuff. I'm looking forward to being able to do some of the kinds of things you do!
ReplyDeleteLoving the colour of the mermaids tail. I made one for my granddaughter, who's 5 until next week. She was snuggled into it and said "oh grandma, I've drunk a magic potion and I'm now a mermaid". I'm sure your granddaughter will like it and will feel magical too. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your projects.
ReplyDeleteWow - you do keep busy. Love the colour of that throw.
ReplyDeleteLove the mermaid's tail. I'm sure it will grow quickly and I look forward to seeing it finished.
ReplyDeleteThe mermaid's tail is adorable ! I had never seen that, what an excellent idea !
ReplyDeleteIt's quite comforting to work on blankets and afghans when the weather grows cooler. I'd like to work on an afghan this winter, but whether I will or not mains to be seen. Your projects look very nice. You'll have your own little mermaid.
ReplyDeleteVery cute, I think I have a similar pattern somewhere and for a shark one too x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful works! Sandra
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I so want to make a mermaid tail. I LOVE the colour you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern on the throw Mama, I can't wait to have it on my sofa and feel the love you put into it every time I snuggle beneath it. Thanks mum for all the wonderful things you have so lovingly made us over the years. X

ReplyDeleteHi Mama, thank you for joining in with my link party! I love your mermaid blanket, how cute. I think these look so comfy and cozy for a little baby. I see from your more recent post that you've finished it already! Good work. I can't wait to see her in it either. :)
