Earlier in the week Amy showcased one of her makes that she got free with a magazine and asked the question what do we do with them? My answer is very simple nothing, they invariably end up thrown into a basket and never seen again. I very rarely buy magazines preferring to spend my money on books but I am blessed with a daughter who buys me a magazine subscription each year. We call it the gift that keeps on giving. I have had Simply Crochet and have now moved on to Homemaker both giving a free gift each month.
Amy's post prompted me to actually empty the basket and see what I could use and make some of them up. So today I am sharing five of the freebies that I intend to use.
What freebies are lurking in your secret stashes? You never know there may be a gift or two just waiting to be made up. Well worth looking.
I am once again linking to
lovemademyhome.blogspot.co.uk/ for the weekly get together. Pop over and see what everyone else has been up to.
See you soon.
I think we all fall in to this trap. I always think it's a great idea to have free kits with magazines, but I too have several around the house sitting there sad waiting to be made...
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! You'll have lots of fun making these!
ReplyDeleteThese are actually nice stuff♥ Happy Friday♥Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I have that festive stitch kit somewhere. I'll have to look it out.
ReplyDeleteHave fun-x-
I currently don't have any subscriptions, but that might have to change just to get some freebies! I hope you can stop by:

I don't buy craft magazines, I have enough wip's to keep me occupied! I recognized the Attic 24 bird as I'm rather partial to him and hope to make one sometime. A magazine subscription is a lovely gift.
ReplyDeletei love to crochet for xmas.... the stars, the bells and globes :)
ReplyDeleteyou'll have a lots of fun
You've got some lovely kits there, I especially like the festive stitch kit. I've got quite a few of these kicking around, I rarely make any of them up.
ReplyDeleteI recognise some of those and keep promising myself I will try some of the Christmas crochet pack! Admittedly they are often at the bottom of my craft box but useful to pick up when I am undecided on my next project.
ReplyDeleteI love to crochet too but that was a long time ago. I too prefer to buy books.
ReplyDeleteI felt guilty just looking at your photos, I also have a stash in a cupboard of never used 'free' kits, in fact I recognised a couple of yours. The trouble is, the instructions for some of the kits were in the magazines that I no longer have... oops xx
ReplyDeletegreat 5 on friday post, got me thinking about which magazines I'm going to subscribe to lol
ReplyDeleteI really should learn how to crochet again, I've got loads of crochet hooks that I use to crochet the hair in my dreadlocks! lol
Lovely five !!! Have fun with them !
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend !
Anna
Always fun to get free things, time to start work.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling like a goof-off. I haven't created a thing with a needle of any kinds, that I probably have forgotten how.
ReplyDeleteI myself don't do any crocheting or crafting nowadays - but used to earlier.
ReplyDeleteI wish you happy crafring! Self made gifts are appreciated.
It looks like you'll have Christmas sorted when you make them. I have a fish key ring somewhere - I must fish it out of the drawer, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteLovely kits, my friend. It looks like you're be busy {{smiles}} Have a great weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever gotten a magazine with a kit in it but I certainly like the ones you have. I think my favorites are the crochet ornament and Lucy's bird. Now you'll have to show us when you have them all completed! :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
They all look interesting and fun to me. Hope you enjoy them.

I have to admit that I am not good at crafts, but I so enjoy seeing the things that others make. I love the colours of the yarn and these all look fun. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful
ReplyDeleteKisses for you
New post
WOW!!!!! I have never gotten a craft kit magazine, but those kits look like fun when you have a chance to tackle them. Meanwhile you have been making many wonderful projects you have shared with us. You inspire me, Mama! xx
ReplyDeleteI have never received from a magazine except those little sachets of perfume or cream. I always like those as they are so handy to carry in ones bag and when they are all used up(which is very quick) I leave them in my bag for awhile as they make it smell nice.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go straight to Lucy's bird first....very nice freebie!!!
keep well

Those looks like some fun projects! I am working on some hats for 3 little girls of my nephew's. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a half dozen of those crocheted snowflakes my grandmother made for me. I love them. Enjoy!
ReplyDelete(I'm wondering -- how is the hair grow out going?)
xo Deborah
I too am fond of those crocheted snowflakes and have collected close to 30 from various craft fairs through the years. I like to see them hanging on my white tree. I don't think I have many duplicates.
ReplyDeleteI love those freebies. But they make it way too tempting to buy a magazine that I don't really need!
ReplyDeleteI don't know of any magazines here (in Canada) that offer freebies on a regular basis. And if there is anything, infrequently, it's a booklet, not actual supplies. You freebies look very useful, especially the star crochet.
ReplyDeleteGood ideas! I don't take magazines any more either. If I find one at the store I really want, I will get it but very seldom do I get it. I subscribed to a coloring magazine and started one project but not finished yet. I let the subscription run out. So much to do but I think coloring and gifting it to someone would be nice. So many fun things, so little time but we need to keep our balance of what we love to do! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have lots to keep you busy. I'm intent on using up lots of odd amounts of wool in my wool stash at the moment. Have a good weekend. B x
ReplyDeleteI don't buy magazines anymore if I need something I google !
ReplyDeleteFun post. I have way too many projects waiting in the wings and can't think of one that was free. Not sure that is good, bad or indifferent! Ha! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThey look like very fun kits. Enjoy,
ReplyDeleteMeredith
Wow...wonderful freebies for sure. I saw your post above this one of the sweet baby gifts. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI subscribe to two magazines. One of them, Taproot, often has freebies. Sometimes there's a knitting pattern I pass on to my professional knitting daughter. At Christmas there are usually decorations to pull out, color or paint, and assemble.
ReplyDeleteLove your crochet projects. I would like to learn enough to make a few Christmas ornaments!
Gorgeous freebies. I tend to add mine to my stash and they get used later. By the time I use the materials I've forgotten they were freebies!
