The craft room is starting to look a lot like Christmas, with signs of the season all over. I really must go in there today and make a start of storing some of these things away. It is a lovely feeling to know that each gift is made filled with love, however small. I have a large family which now include great nephews and nieces, so we took the decision to stop buying gifts several years ago. Only cards are exchanged along with a preserve or such. This year I am going to pop tissues and cover into some envelopes.
A nice addition to your handbag for the month of December. I see most of my family early in the month and so will be a useful addition.
I made each of the Grandchildren a Christmas sack for their first Christmas and they are brought out each year and lovingly filled by the family. Santa leaves gifts under the tree. It will be Hectors and Honeys first Christmas so consequently I made their sacks yesterday. All ready to be filled with love.
I used a stencil to make the letters out of felt and then hand stitched them onto the Christmas fabric. All ready for those magical moments. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and you too had some magical moments.
See you soon.
The Christmas sacks are lovely and will last a lifetime. My girls still get their presents in the sacks I made for their first Christmases over twenty years ago.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sacks !!!!!! And a well spent weekend !
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week !
Anna
Love the sacks.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't done any Christmas crafting at all and I can't wait to start-x-
I love those sacks. We always had the tradition of putting out the sacks on Christmas eve before the kids went to bed but their sacks were nowhere near as special as these ones.
ReplyDeleteEverything Christmas is so much fun and so colorful!!
ReplyDeleteThe dinner and dessert sounds wonderful.
Beautiful sacks that will always be treasured.
ReplyDeleteHow special to make the Christmas sacks for each grandchild!
ReplyDeleteThey are treasures in themselves!
I love your tissue holders, what lovely gifts, and I think every child should have a lovely large santa sack to be filled at Christmas time. I've been hand making Christmas gifts for a fair few years now as I also have a large family........sometimes I cut it a bit fine with the deadlines but it's so worth it and so much fun.
ReplyDeleteYou are so well organized. I like the Santa sacks. Our family is far-flung and not close in any sense of the word. We exchange gifts with Mac's brother and wife and I exchange with one sister, gifting the other one, but knowing there will be nothing in return. Our daughter always comes home for Christmas and that's the best present of all.
ReplyDeletelovely choice of fabrics.. it's such a magical time of the year.
ReplyDeleteThough we are still in the spirit of Halloween right now
The Christmas sack is such a lovely idea, especially with their names on, will last a lifetime. You're very organised, the tissue holders are cute as well as practical xx
ReplyDeleteYour meal sounded wonder and such a nice idea with the tissue holders. Now the sacks, love the idea and reading the comments sounds like most are used for Santa, do you use that way? Or do you use them for family gifts?
ReplyDeleteMy daughter, who is 33 and Jewish ..., has decided that when we go to London next month, she will buy an advent calendar there. Sometimes, Christmas is so irresistible ! Your envelopes look beautiful; the one with the blue baubles is worthy of a Hermès scarf. As for the mention of trifle, oh my God ( of any faith) ! xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch adorable gifts! Roast beef sounds yummy to me right now. Sending hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of not buying gifts.. it can get so expensive. The big bag idea is great and love how you made them with the hand-stitching. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your truly lovely gift giving ideas! Some of my most treasured gifts are those others have made for me...I need to get busier to pass that kind of love along to more :) xx
ReplyDeleteThe tissue covers are so festive. They are lucky to have them :)
ReplyDeleteI also believe that homemade gifts are the best! Those bags are amazing! So full of love and memories for future Christmases. I love the idea of the tissue holders. I would like one for everyday use!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Pretty tissue holders and the designs on the covers are appropriate for Christmas! You are so gifted and talented!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home gifts for Christmas, my idea of the perfect pressie. xx
ReplyDeleteI've been writing out my list of what I'd like to accomplish for Christmas, not sure if I'm being realistic but I like to dream big :) love the tissue holders and the sacks :)
ReplyDeleteYour meal sounds delicious and satisfying, and I love all the items in your crafts room!
ReplyDeleteYour meal sounds delicious and satisfying, and I love all the items in your crafts room!
ReplyDeleteYour crafting looks pretty, and your weekend sounds quite nice♥
ReplyDeleteMy goodness you are really a very busy girl ! and such beautiful things ! I still don't think about Christmas, anyway I only have one gift to buy for my little grandson, my son has married a Dutch girl and they don't celebrate Christmas, so it's not as it used to be. I think Holland is the only country which doesn't decorate (or very poorly) for Christmas ! Not even in Amsterdam.
ReplyDeleteReading Gattina's comment I was surprised to learn that Christmas is not celebrated much in Holland.
ReplyDeleteAll those lovely preparations you're making make me want to get in the Christmas mood. You inspire the rest of us.
Look at you with your Christmas making! You've done so much already. I need to get myself in gear! :)
ReplyDeleteOh so clever! The Christmas sacks are a great recycling idea.
ReplyDeleteThese are just darling and such a great idea! I love the idea of all homemade gifts! We have been doing more and more of this. I haven't given Christmas the first thought yet this year! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteI don't like thinking about Christmas this soon in the year, but if you are planning on making handcrafted gifts you have to get a head start on it. I admire you for starting your projects . . . hopefully you will have more of the hard work done in time to kick back and enjoy the holidays :) Last year this time of year, I was making a Christmas quilt for my husband. Thank you for visiting my blog and for leaving your get well wishes. I truly appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteGifts need not be expensive, thoughtful, but not expensive. Your gift of time to create is the greater value. Love the bag idea and may have to go with something similar for my much older grands.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLovely makes for Christmas gifts. We haven't any little ones in our family. Our adult grandchildren are single and getting on with their careers, but one day we might be great grands if they settle down to married life! Seasonal celebrations when there are small children around are so special. The Christmas sacks are lovely.
