Here Comes Santa...

I love Christmas it is one of my favourite times of year.  I start my preparations for Christmas many months in advance, crafting a lot of gifts, cards and tags in the privacy of my own craft room.    I don't like to be put under pressure so enjoy the process throughout the year.  Imagine my surprise when we went to the garden centre yesterday and there in all its glory was Christmas décor in every shape and form ready for their opening evening today.  I will not lie I did have a stroll around, as did my husband, Mum, Dad and brother.  I think it was the shock that kept us walking, one beautiful display after the other.

Now do not get me wrong some of the decorations were stunning and the displays were jaw dropping.  In September really!!!!  Much too early for me I have to say.  I appreciate that stores are competing for sales but if it gets much earlier we might just as well have it all year around.  What is your view do you like to see all the Christmas décor on sale in September?

We did also have a stroll around the dinosaurs, to see if it was suitable for the children of course not for us.

They would love it.  There was also a secret garden which was a delight for the children with trampolines and play park, definitely worth another visit.  We checked out the restaurant too, which we thoroughly enjoyed.  A lovely family stroll.

See you soon.

  8. I remember when Christmas decorations went on display the day after Thanksgiving. Although I too, work on gifts year round in order to be relaxed and enjoy the actual reason we're celebrating, I think September is waaaaay too early! I'm sure it is competition for the business. That being said, there are some wonderful displays.

    Blessings,

  9. I'm like you, I absolutely love Christmas, but not in September. A new garden centre has opened just up the road but I've avoided going to check it out yet because I just know it's going to be decked out with Christmas paraphernalia.

  14. Way too early, I think! But I went into the garden section of a local store to get some potting soil and was greeted by the same scene. Ack.

  15. I love it........the earlier the better for me....lol.
I used to work as a display co-ordinator in a garden centre....designing and building all the seasonal displays and I used to spend pretty much most of the year working on the Christmas displays from visiting the suppliers in January and February to order the following years Christmas themes to building and painting all of the themed slat walling. I once spent weeks up a scaffold tower doing a stained glass design on a feature window. I was so sad when I had to give the job up-x-

  20. It's too early for me, but I am starting to think about getting some things ready - like you I like to be prepared and not do everything last minute. Looks like a fun outing.

  23. I have a real problem with how early Christmas fever seems to grip the nation every year. I believe it just adds to the stress and I am sure we would all enjoy the season more if it was just left to December, Having said that I know that shops are competing for sales and understand they try and be first out with all their goodies but it just has the effect of turning me right off. Sorry, I know I sound a bit bah-humbug with these comments.

  25. I just had to come and visit you ... I always enjoy the Christmas displays in the stores ... and with less than 100 days to go, you can't blame stores for wanting us to part with our money!

    Happy October Wishes

    All the best Jan
