Five On Friday

Friday has flown around this week as I prepare for the onslaught of visitors for the Summer.  As we live near the sea it is the perfect venue for a Summer break and we love to have visitors so the next six weeks our house will be filled to the rafters.  A random pick this week of five things that I have captured on the camera as I once again join in the weekly fun lovemademyhome.blogspot.co.uk/ with Amy.

One

Beautiful red skies at night, giving us those amazing hot and hazy Summer days ( alright, mini heatwave).

A beautiful sight most evenings this week we have sat out on the patio and watched these amazing skies.

These were taken early evening from the dining room in the midst of a storm.

Two

This warm weather has certainly brought visitors to the garden in search of water.  I have been constantly topping off the bird bath this week, even the dog drinks from it.

Three

Visitors to the garden are usually most welcome but we have had invaders...

...my cabbage patch is no more.

Four

A couple of quick sewing jobs this week has enabled me to keep cool.  I have recycled some old lightweight jeans that I never wear into shorts.  Perfect for playing with the children in the garden next week.  I have no doubt shorts will be a far more sensible attire than summer dresses.

Five

Finally all the colour is out of my hair, that really did take some time to grow out.  I am now back to my natural self.  It has been quite the journey.  I now intend to grow it back down into a short bob, which is a style that seem to suit me.  Hopefully that will not take too long now I don't have the colour to keep cutting out, as I am not liking the style at the moment.

I will catch up with everyone's five later in the day as I am out for most of the day today.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  I have my youngest daughter and her little family visiting tomorrow and then we are all travelling down to Norwich for Hectors Christening on Sunday.

See you soon.

  1. Lovely to see your bird visitors cooling off in the bird bath. Oh no, you must have an invasion of caterpillars. I always net my brassicas, it doesn't take long for a few hungry caterpillars to much through an entire crop. You hair looks lovely back to its natural colour. Enjoy the weekend, hope you have a brilliant time at the christening.

  2. Beautiful photos of those lovely skies.
I love the colour of your natural hair. I won't grow mine out as I know it will be white and it won't suit me.
Summer visitors at the seaside sounds absolutely fabulous.
    Have a brilliant weekend-x-

  7. Amazing skies and I love the blackbird. I have a thrush that visits my birdbath at the same time every morning - it's almost as if he can tell the time! You and your hair look great.

  8. I really like your hair, I'm afraid of what mine would look like if I let it grow out.

  9. The photos of the summer sky are just brilliant!! Oh my goodness!!! You are certainly going to have a busy six weeks but I'm sure it will fly by and family is just the best to spend the rest of the summer with. I love your hair!! I know several ladies who have let their hair grow out to their natural color and it is definitely a lesson in patience. I think it looks lovely and well worth the effort. My hair is currently four different colors and in dire need of the beauty shop!!! : ) Have a beautiful weekend!!! xoxo

  10. Amazing sunset captures, seems birds and dogs don't mind sharing they often fly down to sip from Fleurs outdoors water bowl.
Your natural hair colour is lovely, I grew mine out too and have never regretted it.
Wishing you a wonderful visit with your family and even more gorgeous sunsets.

  12. Love your hair! It looks great. I colored my hair from when I was just 23, because I began to grey early, but went back to grey...it is a transition, that's for sure! For a while one looks like raggedy ann, or something! :-) So sorry you lost your cabbages! I look forward to gardening again, but there's always a huge risk. Love the sky shots! We used to live near the ocean and always had lots of visitors. :-)

  13. Those sky photos are amazing with all that color! So sorry about your garden and those pesky bugs. Your hair color and style looks great. I colored mine for the first time in years and now I'm having to be patient while it grows out. Enjoy your weekend dear friend, Pat xx

  16. I'm a big fan of beautiful skys. And I have a sweet bird bath at mamas house which I miss. Lovely photos. Haha I did the growing out of hair color a few years ago. And it took a while as I let my hair grow really long. But I'm happy it is over with too. Love your hair it looks great. Happy weekend with love Janice

  17. Marvellous sky and lovely blackbird series. Here my cat drinks from the birdbath too, I think, the water is blackbird-flavoured ;-)
    Your hair is pretty.
I often think, that I want to have long hairs again, but the transition is so uncool, sigh!
    Enjoy the time

  18. Those skies are amazing! What a shame about the cabbages! The birds must appreciate the water filled bird bath. Your hair looks lovely. Patience with it has paid off. Have a lovely weekend.

  19. I love your hair colour and I hope it does grow soon. We have been invaded too but I never see them - cheeky things. Have a wonderful weekend, I love a good christening xx

  20. Love the new "do". Coincidentally I have mad a huge change to mine ...I have had my bob all off and a pixie cut and it's taking a bit of getting used to! xxx

  21. Loving the natural hair colour. Great evening skies. We've had some wonderful 5am skies here too x

  22. The skies are beautiful and so are you! Hope you catch the rascals that feasted on your cabbage. Have a lovely weekend. xx

  23. It has been hot here too - with a stray crazy storm here and there. So sorry to see about your cabbages. :(

What a perfect solution for those pants! And cute too!! And I love your hair. It looks so nice natural - which a lot of folks can't pull off. I'll be dying mine probably forever! Lol

  24. Oh I do like your hair! It's beautiful. I have nasty insects, (aphids), in my roses right now and I can't seem to get rid of them. Very annoying. I hope you have a lovely time with your visitors. The visitors in the birdbath certainly seem happy!
    Blessings

  25. I'm another one who thinks your hair looks great. Ha! Now you'll have to reconsider that bob.
Enjoy your time with your daughter and grands.

  26. So know what you mean about growing out the color! It takes forever doesn't it? This reminder came at just the right time for me, as I was thinking I might add a few dark streaks to my God-given natural blonde (grey) hair to give it some color. Now I'm reminded why this is a bad, bad idea.

  30. I love the color of your hair and the current style! The photos of the sky are gorgeous. Your photos of the birdbath make me want one. We are currently landscaping our yard. I wonder if I can talk my husband into getting one?? Have a wonderful weekend with your family :)

  31. How does it go? Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning.

Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

I think that's it. Looks as if you're in for clear sailing. Enjoy your company.

Love your hair. Wish I had some. Blondes may have more fun, but they have less hair.

  32. Beautiful red sky. So sorry about your cabbage. I have been unsuccessful with cabbage because of these invaders. I have also been converting my jeans to shorts too.

  33. Lovely red sky evening with a rainbow even. My daughter was right behind me when I was scrolling down the photos and she said...wow! i like your hair, looks nice on you. Are slugs eating your plants? Try 1 part ammonia to 2 parts water in a spray bottle. It won't hurt your plants at all and will get your invaders to stay away. Really, it works!! Enjoy your company! Happy weekend!

  34. I think your hair looks great! Don't be so hard on yourself. :)

  37. Lovely five - except for those garden invaders, which made a stop at my place coming from or going to yours.
I like your hair. I had a bit of a disastrous cut two months ago and am in the same process as you are in - waiting for it to be long enough to have my tried and true short bob.
