I am joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the weekly get together. My five this Friday are items that I have purchased in the sales.
My first is a book Waste Not Want Not with ideas for reusing and recycling, a topic very close to our hearts. The RRP was £6.99 and I paid 25p. I have only had a quick flip through but feel sure it will give us a few ideas.
Secondly, we did manage to get a whole host of books for the children when they visit or to use as little gifts when needed. The RRP was £4.99 each and we paid 50p each using my loyalty card as payment so the cost to me was zero, but would have been £3.
Thirdly, I fell in love with these adorable first Christmas sacks for the two new babies RRP £8 and I paid £2 each.
Number four is a gorgeous little outfit for our new Grandson RRP £16 reduced to £7, we couldn't resist it.
Finally, some beautiful tights with frilly bottoms for our new Grandaughter, RRP £6 per packet and we paid £1 per packet.
I did get some other bits and pieces for the babies to pop into their gift baskets, I do find the baby stores quite difficult to walk past.
On the whole I was quite strong and did not deviate from the list. Have you succumbed to the lure of the January Sales?
See you soon.
Great book, please let us know what you think of it,I don't get tempted by the sales only if it is things I can keep for gifts x
ReplyDeleteWhat brilliant bargains. I'm sure your family will be pleased. I'm afraid I succumbed to buying a cardigan and belt, both half price. I am trying to be strong as I really do not need anything else to wear! Have a great weekend. Barbara
ReplyDeleteWhat bargains you have acquired, well done. No, I'm not one for sales, but maybe I am missing out...
ReplyDeleteWhat great bargains!xx
ReplyDeleteI think I would have had a wonderful time buying baby clothes especially during the sales as children grow out of clothes so quickly and it's good to get them at bargain prices. My temptation would be books. There was the usual
ReplyDeleteprice reduction buy one and get one half price. I used a Christmas gift voucher and didn't look at the books on sale as I can get bargain hardbacks in charity shops. Your book items were a real bargain.
I don't go anywhere near shops if I can avoid it! You are right, baby shops are difficult to walk past. You found some lovely bargains, well done! x
ReplyDeleteYou found some great bargains and such lovely things too that will be used and enjoyed:)
ReplyDeleteI think the same as you, it is not a bargain unless it is something you buy anyway or something that you really need. You managed to get some great sale items, well done. xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous bargains.
ReplyDeleteI am now starting to eye up the baby clothes ready for our new little addition in March. I love shopping for childrens clothes and can't wait to take Ruby shopping for her birthday present next month.....she wants a denim jacket and some jeans bless her.
Wow, that's what I call bargains. I haven't been to any sales at all this year. To be honest, I can't stand all the hustle and bustle in shops when the sales are on. One sale I do usually go to is the Boots sale when they reduce their prices by 70%, usually a couple of weeks in to the new year, but I didn't even visit that one this year.
ReplyDeleteAvoiding the sales, but you got some bargains!
ReplyDeleteLiz
Great bargains! I love especially the little grey outfit. Too cute!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy shopping but I also enjoy the relaxed feeling when I can say I don't need anything and thus don't need to rush to the sales. If I lived near a garden centre, however, the situation would be different... :)
Have a lovely weekend! xx
You definitely got some bargains. I try to avoid stores and sales in January. Christmas shopping took care of all my urges to spend.
ReplyDeleteThe only shopping we've done is with the gift cards we received for Christmas. Haven't done much shopping other than that. I don't go to the stores often but if I came across bargains i might be tempted too. :)

Yay you!
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds!!!!
Have a nice weekend. : )
Nice shopping !!!
ReplyDeleteI avoid January sales...to much people, to much noise...
Have a nice weekend !
Anna
you are always such a good shopper and finding the deals!! lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThey really were great bargains! Brilliant! :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds!! I enjoy stocking up on the Christmas stuff that is now 75 percent off. We have an abundance of Valentine's Day and Easter items for sale here already. I made a decision to keep the shopping to a minimum as well. We truly have all that we need. Have a beautiful weekend!! xoxo

Now I am quite strong in resisting unnecessary buying. You did get great bargains for the things you have bought.
ReplyDeletelooks like you got some great bargains there. The 25p book looks interesting, great spot. I love those frilly tights too, how cute!
ReplyDeleteNot yet, but when I see what bargains you found I am highly tempted to go look.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I'm a sale hunter... sigh!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Looks like you bought some very CUTE and useful sale items.
ReplyDeleteI have not been lured in by the sales, but I went shopping with a friend yesterday and she was going crazy picking up EVERYTHING! Some of it was so UGLY and she bought it anyway. I know it's just going to sit in the bag. BUT ---- not my circus, not my monkey.
We don't succumb to "sale pressure" either but you have got some absolute bargains. I love those tights with the frilly bottoms - so cute! Hope you have a good weekend. x
ReplyDeleteGreat bargains, well done you. I've managed to avoid the sales, not really my thing! CJ xx
ReplyDeleteGreat buys! I try to avoid the sales my house is full of stuff I will never use. The thing I find the hardest to resist is the yarn sales online but I darn't buy anymore Ive ran out of places to put it. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit the UK or USA for the Christmas/New Year sales, however I think I wouldn't really enjoy myself because of the people in a buying frenzy. Looks as though you got some good bargains - can't really go wrong with books.
ReplyDeleteGreat buys!! Especially the things for the babies and children as they will grow so quickly and grow out of them. I don't think that I have bought a thing in the sales - I bought a reduced price Christmas tree star before Christmas though! Like you, I only buy what I need, or what I would have liked full price, but wouldn't have paid full price for! Thank you for joining Five On Friday! Happy Weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've got some really good bargains. I have to confess I've always avoided the sales like the plague as I can never find things that I actually want.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you have a terrific eye for a bargain. The book looks particularly interesting.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you have a terrific eye for a bargain. The book looks particularly interesting.
ReplyDeleteI never buy before Christmas and always bag some bargains in january, you have done really well. Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes I have! but only for things I've needed too, I did put a 'throw' back in John Lewis and bought two presents instead. Your bargains are real bargains and lovely too, lucky grandchildren I say, but we knew that anyway. Have a lovely weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteWow! You really did find some great bargains this month. Isn't it fun to search and see such wonderful deals? Have a wonderful weekend, Pat :)
ReplyDeleteThey are great bargains. I've resisted so far so I think I should be safe from the sale bug now.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you stopped buying too much to getting just what you need and at good prices, too. Good job! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYou found some great things on sale. The grandchildren will look very cute in their new togs.
ReplyDeleteSome great bargains - I really don't think I've bought anything from the sales this year - most unlike me. A couple of mindful purchases & I have successfully ignored the Emma Bridgewater sale which is normally my biggest down fall! xx
ReplyDeleteYou have bought some lovely bargains! I adore the girls tights with the frilly bottoms - when my daughter was born I really wanted to buy a pair for her, but couldn't find any anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a single thing in the sales, with the exception of my winter coat and I used a gift voucher I received as a Christmas present to pay for it. I try not to get sucked into all the post Christmas sales if I can, unless it's something we really need. Xxx #fiveonfriday
oh a woman after my own heart, I too cannot resist anything for the grand babies.........taking down a new book for Nora this morning when I go to babysit,
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!
ReplyDeleteNow that is the way to shop!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that when I have grandchildren I will find buying all those cute things irresistible!! I bought a lot over the past couple months, so I'm trying to close my eyes to shopping right now!! You got some good deals.
ReplyDeleteWow you certainly find the bargains . I usually go sale shopping but this year I have not . Im exhausted and seem to have lost my mojo I simply want to sit at home and crochet or blog .i suppose that's not a bad thing means I'm saving cash .although I did buy some yarn but that was for work .
ReplyDeleteI love your sale purchases. We did succumb to the boxing day sales and bought outdoor cushions for our swing seat, it badly needed them. Other than that we have been very good this year.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Well done! I'm not very good at shopping (well hubby thinks its good because I dont buy very much!) and I can't usually be bothered with fighting through sales but I do approve of your bargains :)
ReplyDeleteYou found some wonderful bargains! That outfit & frilly tights for grand babies are precious! Thanks for sharing the fun! Blessings. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteLooks like you found good bargains. I bought some after Christmas items on clearance for a couple babies. One's for my granddaughter's 1st Christmas footed sleeper. I didn't buy much this Jan. except order online for my dau-in-love's birthday gifts. easier that way and I don't have to go out to get it. happy weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I remember when my daughter wore cute little ruffly tights like that. Absolutely adorable. Sales can really "suck you in" but it looks like you held strong to your convictions and didn't overspend Well done, you!
ReplyDeleteGetting things when the prices are lowered is cheering!
ReplyDeleteLove your 'finds'!
You found some great bargains. I too used to go to the sales to just get bargains. Now I go with a plan and rarely buy anything that is not on my list.
ReplyDeleteI decided to avoid the sales also this year however I did buy some baby bits for family members and I am not sure my plan worked as I spent all my money on that instead although I did get some lovely baby vests for 50p.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to find a bargain isn't it and I like the look of that book. Have a fabulous week
