Five On Friday

The New Year came in quietly after all the visitors over the holiday season it was nice to have some quiet time.  The decorations have all been packed away and plans are starting to be made for this year.  No resolutions made yet, I need time to contemplate before making my final decisions.

In the meantime I have made a list of projects I want to complete.  This week I thought I would share my top five sewing projects as I am once again joining Amy over at Love Made My Home for the weekly get together.

I have made a start on the first sewing project which is a quilt for my eldest daughters baby boy due at the end of February.

I love the wonderful array of colour and the simple design of the quilt.  I am finding the process quite therapeutic.

Secondly comes a quilt for my middle daughters baby which is a little girl due at the end of March.  The fabric choses are quite simple but very girly.

Bibs and bandanas are third on the list with quite an array of fabric picked out.  The perfect way to use some of the oddments that I have accumulated over the years.

The Mickey Mouse fabric is left over from the quilt that I made for Wilbur, there is also Cath Kidston cowboy fabric left over from Bertie's quilt.  I am sure that I will find more oddments that can be used once I get started.

Number four is making some bags for my daughters as a little gift.  They are so handy now that the 5p charge for carrier bags has commenced.  I love the fabric that I have chosen for this project, I bought it months ago when I called in at the Cath Kidston store on the way to visit my daughter.  There was an amazing sale on so I couldn't walk past it.  I bought it without a project in mind.

Finally, a project for myself or at least for my home.  I have some beautiful fabric to make some table runners and some cushion covers.  The photograph is not showing the true colour it is actually a deep burgundy but the lights are playing games.

That should keep me busy for awhile.   I am extra busy at the moment as I have a little visitor, Bertie is here to play while his Mummy and Daddy have a little trip before his little sister arrives.  He is loving playing all the board games.  It is wonderful listening to his chatter.  We are going out to see the seals at Gibraltar Point wearing his new Star Wars wellington boots later on today and there is always a trip to the soft play centre so a busy weekend planned.  Have you any weekend plans in place?

See you soon.

  1. What colourful quilts they will be. Just perfect for the new babies. I love the idea of using up little scraps on bibs etc. And handy having a spare bag in your pocket rather than forking out 5p for a plastic one. Enjoy having Bertie to stay, I'm sure he'll love the seals! xx

I have never done hexagon patchwork but it looks gorgeous.
My weekend plans involve decluttering in the attic bedroom where Ruby and I sleep when she comes to stay and a bit of sewing and cooking. A perfect weekend for me. Hope you have a lovely time with Bertie-x-
