This is the button collection in all its glory. What a wonderful sight!
Number one storage solution is glass jars.
I have 16 glass jars which have been sorted into colours, with the exception of the jar with the burlap which is mixed and waiting to be sorted.
Number two is the Cath Kidston button tins that were bought for me as gifts feeding my passion for both buttons and Cath Kidston.
The top picture shows the buttons that came with the tin, a real mixture of sizes and pastels.
Number three is the small jars that have been little gifts and are a delight, adding a little charm to the collection.
Number four is the rather large plastic boxes, there are 15 of them. They have been sorted in to colours, as well as wooden toggles and vintage buttons on cards. They do need an alternative storage solution as they are not very attractive and detract from the beauty of the button itself.
Finally my number five is wooden canisters that I stuff buttons into, usually vintage buttons or those that I consider special.
I hope you have enjoyed your little tour around my five storage solutions to my button collection. I have surprised myself how many I have. I am once again joining in with Amy at Love Made my Home for The Five on Friday link up. Why not pop over and join in the fun.
I am having a giveaway to celebrate 100 followers , today is the last day so don't forget to leave me a comment on the giveaway post.
See you soon.
My goodness - that is a lot of buttons. However you can reassure your son-in-law that there is a Lincolnshire reserve button collection at Caistor - sadly not as big as yours but still more than I am ever likely to use Buttons are there to be hoarded and cherished and, as a last resort, used.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen so many buttons!! I feel a lot better about my very small collection of buttons, I thought I was amassing too many, but looking at yours......well I can happily carry on collecting. Sarah
ReplyDeleteWow you do have a lot of buttons, I love buttons too and thought that I had a lot but nothing compared to you, do you find though that when you need a button for a certain project you never have the one's you need and have to buy even more. Have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous! You can never have too many buttons. Have fun :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's something very soothing about sorting buttons. When I was little, one of my favourite treats was playing with my Mum's button tin. It must be heavenly for you to have so many buttons to play with.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your button collection! Most I like the two button "books" and all the colors, of course -
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany
wow that is an awful lot of buttons. Could you do a post on your prize/favourite buttons in your collection, please? I would love to see them.
ReplyDeleteI do not think I have ever seen so many buttons in one place, wow! Am somewhat jealous too ;)
ReplyDeleteI have button envy ........
ReplyDeleteOOH! I adore buttons too. However, my collection is not nearly as extensive as yours! My mother probably has the same amount as you. She knits sweaters by the truckload and loves to have millions of buttons to choose from when it's time to add the buttons. In fact, when she wants more, she buys them by the kilogram from a button manufacture in Toronto!! She doesn't display them as prettily as you do though!

Your yarn stash and your buttons stash are amazing. I just love how you have them sorted into jars.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Oh my, your button collection is fabulous! I'm not sure if I have ever seen so many buttons all at once :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, my friend!
Your button collection is outstanding. I love that you can see all the various colors in clear jars. Makes for such a grand decor item.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collection !!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a sunny weekend !
Anna
Everyone loves a button! I'm envious that you have a willing button sorter in your family ;) Your displays look great, and showing off your buttons is half the fun (I have quite a collection too ... happy things!)
ReplyDeleteWendy
Wow! That's quite a collection. I love the Cath Kidston ones :)
ReplyDeleteWow you have such a huge collection of buttons. I love the jars you keep them in. Thanks for you sweet comments today. Have a nice day and weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou could open a button shop! An awesome collection of buttons, jars and tins!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend!
I love buttons too! You have so many...it's just wonderful! Really enjoyed this post! I am new to Amy's meme and this is my first visit. You must be an avid seamstress. I also have a quilting blog called piece-fulness if you ever want to check it out. Please check out my main blog A Colorful World. Of course, I have a post of Five For Friday as well. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWow! that's a huge collection of buttons of various shapes, sizes and designs. How long did it takes you to reach these many buttons?
ReplyDeleteI would definitely say that you are a button hoarder ... I mean, collector. Ha! That's a whole lot of buttons. So sweet that your SIL helps sort. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love your button collection, I would love to come and help you sort them.
ReplyDeleteWow, you certainly have a LOT of buttons!!!! You are definitely a button fan!!! You have some great ways to store them though and it is good that you keep them by colour as I always have to trawl through all of mine - not that I have as many as you! Thank you so much as always for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my GOODNESS! You have more buttons than a button shop! LOL! I have some.. and do love them.. but you take the cake! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. Thats quite a button collection!! Amazing
ReplyDeleteOh I love this collection, I would love to have a collection of my own, this is a bit odd because I'm not very crafty, but I love buttons. My skills stretch to changing the buttons of outfits. I love your storage solutions xx
ReplyDeleteOH my, what a collection of buttons. I love looking through the button box and remembering where they came from. I'm visiting from Five on Friday/
ReplyDeleteButtons are fun but I don't have a need for them right now. I do have a bit of a stash though, in a round tin. My mom used to have hers in a Christmas card box and I loved to go through it. I don't know what ever happened to it. Maybe my sis has it as she has mom's sewing machine. Or in some stuff I have. Congrats on so many followers! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed sharing them with you! : )
Holy wowzers! That is A LOT of buttons! They are gorgeous and you've given me an idea of what I could put in my two antique mason jars. I'm doing BUTTONS!
ReplyDeleteI lOve all your Cath Kidston buttons and button boxes. You have a lovely collection of buttons and they are so well organized!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful buttons!!! Now I don't feel so bad for having a couple of jars of buttons :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, you do have a lot of buttons, and so many ways of displaying/storing them too. I remember as a child I loved to sit on the hearth rug at my grandma's house sorting through her button tin which I think was an old biscuit tin:)
ReplyDeleteI just love those Cath Kidston button containers!! They look like books. You just reminded me of something. Back in the day, when I opened my first Etsy shop, one of the first things I ever sold was a class jar filled with buttons. I sold it to a lady in England as a matter of fact!! LOL!! Buttons are like candy for the eyes and you can never have too many of them!! : ) Have a beautiful weekend!! xo
ReplyDelete~ Wendy
Who knew you could have button envy?
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Wow I have serious button envy! I think you must have a button for every possible project and occasion there! I love buttons too and I thought I had a lot...I have one of those pink CK tins full. I must tell my husband that I only have a tiny amount of buttons now when he next moans that I've bought more!
ReplyDeleteMarianne x
Buttons!!!! I just love those Cath Kidson tins, too cute!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find all these amazing buttons? I bought a button bracelet from a women who makes button bracelets. Very kool. Beckie
