A Saturday Stroll

A mixed weather day yesterday but beautiful in so many ways, the skies here are always a delight.  Neighbours visited and we had some fun, chatting and catching up.  It as a joy to try to teach Ann how to crochet, she is enjoying the process a little at a time.

We are going to try painting next when we have collected some stones from the beach.

Gerard and I did have a drive to the Port to enjoy a quiet stroll last night, it was a joy to see the waves crashing against the walls, rolling back and then building up for yet another wave.  It is mesmerising if you stand there long enough.

The approach to the Port is always a delight no matter the time of day or weather.  The little boats bobbing in the water add a touch of colour to the greyness on a murky day.

Even the lobster pots and fishermen's paraphernalia looks inviting and conjures up romantic notions.  Although realistically, it is a hard life.

In such a short time, the skies darkened and showed a beautiful redness overhead.  Time to go home and put the kettle on.

All in all a quiet but fulfilling Saturday spent with friends and beautiful views.  Wishing you a happy day.  As always thank you so much for all your wonderful and encouraging comments, they are greatly appreciated.

See you soon.

  2. A lovely relaxing day. We are hoping to go for a Sunday stroll later but it won't be far as Lily has a bit of a temperature. I'm hoping the fresh air (it's not cold here) will help her feel a bit better. X

  11. Catching up with your blog posts today. My, my! So many projects and so many different skills. Is there anything you can't do? Your family and friends are so lucky to be the recipients of all these goodies.

And how I'd love an ocean fix - watching the waves crash along the Atlantic coast or just watching them gently lapping the shore along the Gulf Coast. Amazing that something so wonderful can be so destructive when whipped into a hurricane.

Will check back later to see what new and wonderful delights you've created.

  17. I so enjoy when you post photos of your new home. It's looks so cozy and the boats bobbing around DO look romantic, but as you said, it's a hard life. Hubby and I both love the ocean and would so enjoy living close to it after retirement. Unfortunately, all of our children live too far away for us to indulge ourselves in that dream. So... I live my dreams through your blog my friend.
    Blessings,

  19. The sea is mesmerizing, and very soothing, I think. Lovely views of your Port, and of your crochet student. How wonderful pass your knowledge along. Our daughter and her husband are visiting Scotland and are on the Isle of Mull just now, and having a wonderful time. I see that's still quite a ways from Lewis. I'm looking forward to hearing all about their trip when they return.

  28. I'm glad to know that friendships are blossoming. That makes such a difference when settling into a new place. I'm sure your neighbours appreciate your contribution to the community and your love of your new surroundings. The little harbour looks picturesque.

  29. Since we both live on the sea it's interesting to see yours with its differences and similarities. I love to see the fishing boats, in the harbor and working out on the sea. Ours are mainly shrimp boats however. It's lovely you are teaching a young girl to crochet, passing along your skills.

  30. What a beautiful place to live! I would have a field day taking photos. I probably wouldn't get a lot else done.

I wish I was close enough for you to teach me how to crochet! Still getting the hang of knitting.
