This and That...

Saturday was Ness Gala, a lovely event that was arranged for earlier in the year and cancelled due to bad weather.  It was a glorious day if a little windy but not a rain cloud in sight.  I did have a stroll around the various stalls and indulged in some wonderful Hebridean fudge, Harris gin and pink grapefruit was a favourite.    I did leave Gerard in the tea tent for a short while, as walking was quite difficult.  He thanks you all for your concern and messages, the steroid injections are slowly working their magic and he is feeling a whole lot better.  I must be getting old as the noise was quite deafening, the children were having a ball with the sirens and horns on the Police, Ambulance, Fire Engine and Coastguard vehicles.  Certainly a fun event and one to mark on the calendar for next year.

On our return from the Gala the postman had left a parcel in the lobby, a wonderful giveaway from Mary at trundlingthroughlife.blogspot.co.uk/ along with a stunning card that she had made.  Thank you so much Mary, I was thrilled.

A wonderful trio of books ready for the Winter months, such appropriate titles too.  I did smile at how much the card matched the lovely colour of my plant.

Slowly but surely I have started to add a few Autumn touches here and there.  We are not doing much this year as we are planning on getting some of the indoor jobs done.  Tiling the fireplace and kitchen, boxing in the electrics and decorating to name but a few.

A new addition is the ash bucket, I was so excited when I bought that on our recent trip to visit family.

A note on an old project:  sometime ago I added some cotton crochet to a face cloth in readiness for our move.  I finally got them out for our latest guests to use.  Sadly the colour has run out of the cotton yarn.  I am so disappointed, that has never happened before.  The water used was tepid as it was for the girls baths prior to our pyjama party.

Mickey joined in the fun too.  A film and sweet treat in bed, does it get any better than that?

Finally, a great find at the charity shop last week.  A metal egg holder for £1, the perfect addition to my kitchen.

See you soon.

  1. The kids seem to have given you the teddy to hold! Could it be the sweets took a higher place? Don't know why, but everything with words on it is so much cuter these days aren't they? I love you ASH bucket and your EGG holder. Great finds!

  2. I think I missed commenting on your previous post and I meant to, but must have got distracted! You have had a wonderful summer with your family.

Sounds like you have had a good few days as well, what fun the pyjama party was. Very cute photo of you all snuggled up in bed. A shame about the colour running onto the flannel.

Your ash bucket looks like it might be made by the same people as my compost bucket. Great egg holder as well, that is almost the perfect match too.

  3. I think the edging looks pretty even with the colour run, it makes the edge seem pink as it graduates to the white xx

  11. Nice time away at the Gala and always a bit of noise for sure. I'm glad Gerard is better. I missed that post. I like the egg carrier! And cuddles with grandchildren is the best! Congrats on winning books to read in the spare time. Happy week my friend!

  12. Love the ash bucket and the egg holder. Do you have 'colour catchers' over there? They are miracle workers when you have vivid colours with white. Instead of the colour going into the white it all goes into the colour catcher. I've used them many times and I've never had a colour bleed problem.

  13. The metal egg holder is such a unique find. I've seen one in ceramic but never in metal. Too bad about the red colour running onto the face cloth.
Love the picture of you and the grands in bed!!

  14. The three of you, or is it four, certainly seem to be having a fun time. And, the quilt you are snuggling under is just lovely. Fall will be the perfect time for doing some inside projects.

  26. it was good news to read that Gerald is getting some relief. A friend is also dealing with back pain and it can be quite debilitating. What a nice surprise you received in the post and what a couple of nice treats you gave yourself with the egg holder and ask can. That sure looked like a cozy threesome in bed with you and the grands.
