Trimming Towels

November is here already, arriving in a flourish of  falling leaves and mist.   A worrying time as the falling leaves despite their beauty means danger for those not as steady on their feet.  My husband is once again struggling with his RA, a recent flare up means swollen and painful limbs and not a lot of sleep, making walking quite difficult.   He had a steroid injection yesterday so hopefully that will help until his next appointment with the consultant, arranged for next week.

The diary is filling up already for next month, busy times that I love.  I am thrilled that all three daughters are coming home all at once with their little families so that we can all be together for a short while.  I am going to do a lot of baking and batch cooking so that I can spend quality time with them and not in the kitchen.  I am going to spend a couple of hours browsing cook books and then create a menu.  Exciting times.

I have spent the morning in the craft room finishing off some projects that I am working on for Santa and adding to the towels.  With so many visitors expected I thought it prudent to add to the towel stack.

I have bought some basic cotton towels and added  some festive cotton and vintage lace.  A touch of luxury and seasonal all ready for my guests.

Made with love  and all ready to be added to the bathrooms along with some seasonal toiletries and candles.   I do keep looking at soap making and wonder if I dare.  The chemicals frighten me a little, is there any real danger or is it all in my mind?  I would love to hear about your experience of  making soap and other toiletries.

Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my previous posts, it is so wonderful to hear from you.  I would also like to welcome new followers and visitors I hope that you find something to enjoy about my little adventures through life.

See you soon.

  3. They're really lovely, it makes a plain towel in to something extra special. How lovely having all your family together at once. I'm sure you're really looking forward to spending time all together, and I bet they are too.

Maybe I can get in my craft room soon. I am so sorry to hear about your hubby. My mom had RA and it is difficult to live with...for him and for you. Much love,

  6. Your Christmas towels are lovely, so festive and welcoming, I especially love the added vintage lace. My husband also has RA, although he changed his diet big time and hasn't needed a steroid injection for about ten years now. Hope your hubby feels better soon.

  10. Your towels are just beautiful. It's a nice way to add seasonal touches to the rooms that aren't typically decorated. I'm so happy that your family will all be together. Holidays aren't the same without family are they? Prayers for your dear husband that he will have relief from pain very soon.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. RA is a bugger and I hate it. I know your husband does, too. Hope that the shot gave pain relief. Does your husband also have a holistic doctor?

Wonderful preps and plans for your holiday. Your trimmed towels are giving me ideas.

  17. I'm sorry your husband is suffering. I hope he feels better now. Your towels are looking very festive. How fun your girls and grandkids will all be there. Lucky you. 2 of my 3 kids live far away and so it will just be our one son and his family here for the holidays. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  25. Your towels looks so pretty! I wish I could find more time to be creative but not right now. Tired from work day and bible study and a bit of back issue that has made me need to turn in early for a good sleep seriously needed! Good to hear your daughters and family are coming all together for Christmas. Not sure how ours is working this year but had fun Sat. with all our little grandchildren! Take care, my friend!

  26. Very pretty towels, you have been a busy bee ! We are only 5 at Christmas, so there is not very much to do. I don't even know if we have to go to Amsterdam or if they come here to Waterloo.

  27. I'm sorry that your husband is in so much pain, it's so difficult to get along without a good nights sleep. Your towels are so pretty, may even attempt that myself. Woo xx

  28. Trimming the towels is a great idea. I have seen some pretty Christmas fabrics in the fabric store recently, so now you have my mind fixing on making some up for myself. The festive towels you purchase in the store are always a little disappointing.
I read your previous post and LOVE the table! The chair and cushion look great too. What a nice set to have in the craft room :)
I hope your husband finds some help with his situation. Aching joints can be so miserable in the winter weather.

  29. Your towels are so pretty. I have a few fancy towels packed away from before we had children and I always wonder if it's time to get them out again. Maybe they're ready. I've been catching up with your posts and I love your new furniture. How lovely to have it in the craft room. I hope your husband's RA will not give him too much trouble this winter. Take care and have a good weekend.

  37. Don't mean to be Debbie Downer, but recently read about how unsanitary bar soap is if you're sharing it with other people in the shower etc. So now I'm sticking with the liquid kind. Your towels are lovely. Your crafting puts us all to shame.

  38. Beautiful towels. Such a simple idea that looks really effective.

  39. I LOVE those towels. I've been working on an advent calendar for my sister and cousin and I think I might add embellished hand towels! Then they could put them in their half bath for when they have company. Great idea to do some preparation ahead of time and not spend all of your time in the kitchen. I hope you have a fantastic time with your family.
