Rain DID NOT Stop Play

The weather yesterday was abysmal, overcast cold and drizzle on and off all day.  We had planned to work in the garden but that was a non starter so we went to the Mumby Church table top sale and picked up some real bargains which can be seen on my previous post.  We dropped Mum off and visited with Dad for awhile and then decided to go down to the beach.  We are blessed  there is a local beach that has a car terrace.  At Huttoft  you don't need to leave the car, a flask was made of hot chocolate and off we went.

This is the view out of the window at the front, the top picture with drizzle.

The sea was quite calm when you consider the weather.  This is the view from the rear window, the sand dunes.

The drizzle didn't stop the fishermen, they were bringing in quite a haul.

It was fun to watch them for a little while.  We were making the most of the isolation the local caravan parks have now reopened for the season and we are expected a large influx of holidaymakers for Easter weekend.

Back home, I managed to sit and crochet for awhile, finishing the lap blanket for Dad.

It was nice to be able to go shopping in my craft room for some bits and pieces to finish it off as a gift.

Drum roll please...

Already for the cold season.  I have started another one, they really are such a quick and easy make.  The garden can wait for another day.

A warm welcome to new followers I hope you find something you enjoy on my adventures through life.  Thank you for all your warm and encouraging comments, your thoughts are always appreciated.  Take care.

See you soon.

  1. I think it's good to get out whatever the weather, even if it's just a drive in the car, things are what you make of them. We've got a lovely sunny day here today, the beds are stripped and washing is drying on the line. The blanket is really lovely, you've chosen some great manly colours which work so well together, your dad will love it.

  7. You're lucky to have the ocean so close to visit. What were the fishermen catching? I'm sure your dad will treasure his blanket. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. Gorgeous blanket. I like to have one on the go as well. There's always such a good feeling creating something so warm and useful. Great sea shots, it's lovely to be by the coast at this time of year isn't it. CJ xx

  11. I had a knitted blanket like that years ago. My Mom always called it an afghan. ( Had to look up the spelling) and it was done in the same wavy lines. It got used so much it finally had holes in it that my naughty sons then insisted on poking their toes through and the holes got bigger... you get the picture.

  12. What a nice gift for your dad. It's perfect. Your hot chocolate car picnic at the beach sounds like just the sort of thing that John and I enjoy. Here's to warmer and sunnier spring days ahead!

  13. I have just had a good catch up with your news since March 11th. In spite of the rain you have been busy as usual, and I enjoyed seeing your patterns, and completed crochet/sewing projects. I'm glad your daughter is home...although on bed rest and I pray that all goes well. According to our local weather forecaster we had 20 days of rain and three days of sunshine and now are back into another series of rainy days, so you have my sympathy :) Wishing you and yours a happy week! xx

  14. Your Dad's blanket is lovely and I am sure he will much appreciate it. I have enjoyed crocheting mine over the last couple of cold grey days, it is lovely to keep snug beneath it as I crochet. How nice to be able to go and take in the sea view but keep warm and enjoy a cup of coffee. xx

  20. Good morning dearest, I loved seeing your pictures of the Ocean and the fishermen. My youngest son fishes all the time p, he just caught a 20 lb, striiped bass in the ocean. I truly wish I had a craft sewing room. And I lobe the blanket you made for your day. One day I want to make a ripple blanket. I'm just finishing up my blanket. I decided to make it a bit larger. Happy Spring. Ps no rain this morning yay..with love Janice

  21. How have I missed your last two posts? They didn't show up on my list for some reason. Lovely blogger!!!! Thank you for your comment today. We really have had a very mild winter. No snow for at least a couple of months...until today. I love your blanket. How pretty and a perfect gift. I have lots of odds and ends and may make one of these myself soon. Lovely sea pictures too. How I miss it. I thank you for sharing yours.
    Blessings,

  24. It's all very well for you to call it "a quick and easy make" - we don't all have your level of skill! That blanket is lovely. And I really do envy you your proximity to the beach. I'm off now to deal with my green-eyed monster... x

  25. The blanket looks great, I'm sure your dad will love it! We've now had 14 straight days without rain, unheard of here. I could probably put up with a bit of drizzle now... The beach is fab in nearly any weather if you have hot chocolate in the car :-) xx

  26. Such pretty colors in the blanket. It looked like nice weather to enjoy the sea from the car rather than fishing on the beach.

  27. I envy your bad weather :-) We seem to have bypassed spring and gone straight into summer, very hot and dry around here.
