My Grandchildren are always sending/making me cards and pictures which are dotted all over the house but I wanted somewhere to display them properly, so when I saw some giant pegs whilst shopping in Norwich the idea was formed. My husband and I have made a display board, it just needs some string attaching and hanging up.
We are both still choking from the blackboard paint fumes, as old as we are we never learn. Definitely not an inside job!!!
I love scrapbooking, I have some great photos of the children . I tried this week to put together pages onto a canvas so that I could see them all the time. I had to experiment with the adhesives but I enjoyed the process.
I am not sure that they will last very long without becoming too dusty. Maybe some sort of gloss/varnish may help? I would be grateful for any suggestions you may have.
I will do a third canvas when Bertie's baby sister is born and add her name to the art board. Amie is still been monitored daily but is doing well at home. We are visiting her on Sunday.
Mothering Sunday/Spring/Easter had me thinking about the décor and so I sorted out some decorations ready to add some touches later today. I have also made a couple of new table runners.
I love to make Easter trees and intend to go for a stroll and collect some twigs later today.
I have also made some new cleaning cloths to brighten the kitchen for the season. I recycle old towels with scraps of material a quick job but saves not only money on not buying shop cloths, but uses material that would probably end up in land fill.
Finally I have been reading and relaxing. I have a subscription from my daughter of Homemaker and my husband has Grow your Own, the gifts that keep on giving. It is nice to put your feet up and have a browse through. I was blessed also to be bought a couple of books by my daughters so another added highlight.
My five highlights for Five on Friday.
See you soon.
You've been really busy! Your canvases are such a good idea, they look beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy this week. The display board is a great idea and the flowery canvases are very pretty. Your photos are a feast for the eyes - so many lovely things:)
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not outdoor gardening weather at the moment so like you being indoors is a better option. I admire all your crafting skills and makes. Your grandchildren must enjoy being with Grandma as they join in. Glad to hear Amie is doing well at home. Enjoy the weekend with your family.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely things in there. Perhaps you could get some box frames to protect your precious 'scrapbook' pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and inspiring post!
ReplyDeleteI too wanted to suggest box frames for your canvases. Those lovely boards deserve to be protected against dust. Happy crafting and reading! xx
Those are lovely 5 highlights. Love your beautiful work on the canvases. All those things are keeping you really busy in the house. Hope you will enjoy better weather condition to start your gardening.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scrapbooks!
ReplyDeleteYou put me to shame with all the crafting you manage to get done, February has been a very slow month for me with one thing or another. The canvases are lovely, a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLovely craft projects as usual MM. I love your canvases....what a fabulous idea-x-
ReplyDeleteThe canvases are beautiful. Did you cut the letters yourself or are they precut?
ReplyDeleteAnother busy week for you and a lovely selection of makes, well done.
First of all congratulations on the safe arrival of your new grandson and that is indeed a beautiful picture of them. Now to your five, the display idea is a great one, I have all sorts of things hanging about that the girls have made, I might give this a go. I also love your canvases, such a great idea way to display your pictures. A lovely five as always, have a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's Day xx
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much you accomplish...and such beautiful work! I love getting a magazine subscription as a gift too.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards !!!! They are so lovely !!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Easter's creations are perfect !!!!
Have a nice weekend !
Anna
What lovely highlights. I love your photo boards they are so special. Are they too 3D to go behind glass in a frame? Bet you can't wait til your new granddaughter arrives. What a busy time in your family. B x
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbook pages are so pretty and I love the "board" you put together to display cards from your grandkids. Your Easter thingies are so pretty, could stay around all spring.
ReplyDeleteYour display board is a terrific idea! I might have to copy it to hold things my grandchildren make, as I have no place to put things up in our cottage. Your scrapbook pages are so well done. I'm quite hopeless at things like that, so have no advice to offer, but I'm sure one of your readers will come up with an idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the display board. It came out great. Love the scrape books as well. Great job, Happy Friday, weekend with love Janice
ReplyDeleteI agree that the display board is a great idea. I love the picture boards you made of your grandchildren; they are adorable. You are very creative. Wishing you a fabulous weekend, Pat
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbook canvases are beautiful! What a good idea. Maybe you could frame them in a shadowbox frame? They are deep, so they wouldn't crush your pretty buttons and such. And then you'd have glass over the top of them to keep them from getting dusty. And you could hang them if you wanted. Love your pegboard for the kids art too.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing scrapbook canvases, really gorgeous, they will be treasured for a very long time I think. And some great reading material too. I'm wishing you a very good weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy, I love the pegboard idea and the scrapbook canvases are lovely sorry I can't think of how to protect them but they should be fine if you lightly dust them often I would think. :)
ReplyDeleteyou have been busy, I love all your Easter stuff, and your canvases. Maybe next time you could do them on something you could put in a box frame, then you wouldn't have to worry about dust
ReplyDeleteoh such fun...scrapbooking! Your pages look lovely. Do you use archival safe products, even adhesives? That will protect your pages as well. There are sheet protectors out there to place each sheet in if you are hanging for display. Again, make sure it's archival safe, acid free is a good way to preserve. I like your idea of hanging grand kids art work. May have to try it. Ours winds up on the fridge but not always a good place at the paper tends to fall. I got a couple good ones last week. We've had warm days but the nights are still chilly. Have a good weekend my friend!

Lovely moments from your week, especially your lovely scrapbook! It will be lovely to have the cards and pictures the children send you out on display too! Thank you for sharing at Five On Friday, hope you have a great weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteWow you have been busy crafting!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to make your own cleaning cloths, by the way.
Have a great weekend, love from Mirjam.
I love your scrapbooking, it is something I have very often been tempted to have a go at but I am not very imaginative when it comes to things like that. I am ok if I have an idea to copy but hopeless of thinking up something for myself. xx
ReplyDeleteWat lovely and sweet Easter goodies :) And your scrapbook pages are so beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteHave a splendid weekend. Hugs!
I enjoyed your post.. the family collages are a great idea to have up all the time. And I look forward to seeing your Easter trees! I'll be putting my Easter stuff out soon. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the good ideas! I especially appreciate the art display board...I need one for my Grands artwork, too! I'm hoping you have a lovely weekend :) xx
ReplyDeleteOh, you have been busy, I hope you get time to relax over the weekend with that new book.
ReplyDeleteDiana
I just love your idea of the cloths! You're right, those small pieces of fabric need to be used. Great idea. Love that pink bunny. I enjoyed your pix on the previous blog about the children...so adorable.
ReplyDeleteYour idea for the cloths is great. So much better than wasting them. My husband often asks for rags for his work in the shop. Your Easter things remind me that I must begin collecting to make the grandchildren's baskets. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteso many pretty things, the display board is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of the two of you making the board for the Grandkids cards - that is so cool, I hope you have recovered from the fumes!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Reading your posting with all the beautiful spring colours in those photos bursting forth is like eating a delicious chocolate cake minus the calories. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletehello,
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing all the great idea.
hugs regina
Sounds like it was a lovely week. Love your scrapbook pages, and all the Easter decor. A good reminder to me to start organizing, too. It's early this year!
ReplyDeleteI love how you scrap booked on canvas.
ReplyDeleteLove-love-love your cleaning cloths. So much more fun than mine. My son sends me a box of avocados from California a couple of times a year. Each one is nestled in the toe of one of his discarded white socks and then the top wrapped around to cushion it. The socks become my cleaning rags for dusting, etc. Not nearly so festive as your cleaning cloths.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great week, I love the canvas photo boards. Good luck with the new little one.
ReplyDeleteMeredith
Your scrapbook pages are just beautiful as are your other creations!! What a great idea for scraps of material. They're almost too pretty to use as cleaning cloths!! : ) xoxo
ReplyDelete~ Wendy
Goodness you have been busy. Loving the Spring and Easter theme.
ReplyDeletelovely pages! I haven't delved into scrapbooking....but I do journal daily :)
ReplyDeleteI love your cleaning cloths, I cut the legs of the kids PJ's when they grow out of them and use them for cleaning but I'm ashamed to say no hemming or edging happens. Your's are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe had pretty inclement weather here too this weekend so all my spring gardening jobs were put on hold too, maybe next weekend?
