So far the snow storms that are hitting the mainland are avoiding us, for which I am extremely grateful. Whilst I do enjoy snow and love the look of it, particularly around the holiday season I am not really a fan. We are however getting rain and wind but a little at a time we are getting out to video aspects of living on this beautiful Island for our Grandson's school project. Although we are miles apart we are having lots of fun together.
I am also having fun with a friend with a Church project popping a small gift bag on doorsteps to bring a little cheer. I have made a start with making some fridge magnets from a humble clothes peg. I gave them a little wash of paint first to give them some colour and then added some bling, flowers and a bow.
I was inspired by pioneerwomanatheart.blogspot.com who made some adorable embellished paper clips. She shared the idea for hearts and flowers for valentines day. So I have made a start making some using crochet sunflowers and buttons. I will be making some hearts now that I have found a pattern. They are such a quick make but look so pretty.
We are hoping that this little project will bring some cheer, it certainly has given me a lift giving me something to do. I have also made a start making some cards which can be added to each little gift bag.
A lot of people from our village had the Covid vaccine this week. So far, all NHS workers, care staff and care homes have had it here, they are now giving it to the over 80s. I have been so impressed with how quickly they are rolling out this programme. We certainly have a lot to be thankful for.
Billie Jo UHT milk is ultra heat treated milk, also known as long life milk. I like to have some in so that I don't have the worry of getting fresh milk and saves me going into town which is 27 miles away.
As always I thank you for your visit to my humble blog and for your encouraging comments. I am keeping myself busy and staying home in my cosy cottage it is not really a hardship. My heart does however go out to all those in lockdown who are trying to work from home as well as home school. My own three daughters are in that very position and it isn't easy.
Take care and stay safe.
See you soon.
Lovely creations and cards !
ReplyDeleteHave a cozy weekend !

You do such imaginative things. I love the little magnets, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. I'm sure your doorstep gifts will bring a lot of cheer to the recipients. Fingers crossed the snow misses you, it snowed here all day on Thursday and it's still covered now.
ReplyDeleteThe peg magnets are a great idea, and your cards are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the crafts that you are working on to keep yourself busy. I should start making my own cards. Yours are so pretty. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteLove the peg magnets. We have magnets on the fridge, plain and boring. I shall have to up my game!
ReplyDeleteAll your makes are so pretty and what a lovely thing to do for your neighbours, a wonderfully kind thing.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely project to work on - so thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteI also keep UHT milk in the pantry - just in case - mostly in case the weather is really bad and I don't want to go out just for a litre of milk. But over here it is more expensive than fresh milk so not as popular.
I believe they said yesterday that all LTC residents and worker have been vaccinated (they were top of the list due to some terrible outbreaks) but now we will be affected by the Pfizer re-org - and vaccine arrivals will be delayed for the next month or so. It is affecting a lot of countries so nothing to be done but to wait it out.
Take care - enjoy the work with your grandson.
If I was one of your island neighbors I wold love to receive your doorstep gifts!!! My younger daughter is teaching k - 5 in a gifted program here in the Kansas City area and her daughter is virtually tutoring pre-school students in reading! Her brother is going to 9th grade virtually....
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information on the milk.
I think it a good idea to get some just in case.
Love my visits with you!
You are making some lovely things. Expect the people to be so pleased by them. You probably know that we got up to snow here in Norwich today. It stopped about 1pm and thawed for a while but it is now dark so hope it doesn't freeze tonight.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Lorraine! Your gift bag ideas are so wonderful. I just know people will be cheered and blessed by receiving a gift of these beautiful items. How sweet of you to do it and hae such a caring heart for others. I know that I am blessed to be able to call you my friend.
ReplyDeleteWe received word yesterday that the house in Omaha next door to Dennis's Mom will be ours! Praise God! We got it for a very good price and will be able to do a few updates eventually. We talked to realtor this morning and she will draw up the legal documents for us. Then I face-timed with Mandy for over two hours, just talking about decorating and such things. She has very good taste and I'm looking forward to her help with everything. I think we will have the entire house painted and the carpeting removed before we move in. The carpet is over 40 years old and definitely needs replaced or possibly just removed. We believe there are hardwood floors throughout the entire main floor of the house.
Sorry to babble on, but it's exciting knowing we are one step closer to being with some of our family again.
Blessings,
Betsy
Your creations are beautiful. I particularly like the peg magnets.
ReplyDeleteThank you for some great ideas for easy crafts. I'm sure the recipients of the little gift bags will be cheered by them.
ReplyDeleteI love to watch snow falling and the way the world outside is transformed by it. After 2 or 3 days I want it to melt. *smile*
What a wonderful idea to drop off little gifts on doorsteps. I'm sure it will cheer people up considerably. You are so creative and industrious! Vaccine rollout is a bit slow here in Canada, but it's beginning!
ReplyDeleteOur vaccine rollout in New Mexico is absolutely dismal and making no sense. My healthy 40-year-old neighbor got the vaccine but my 86-year-old husband with many health problems has not been called to get it! Your "cheer up" goody bags project is so sweet. During lockdown, people are going to be so lifted up by receiving them!
ReplyDeleteI like your little clothes pin idea with cards to give friends. I'm sure this who receive them will like it. Some years ago I was able to get magnetic print pages and put my photos on them for sale or gifts. Its nice of you to help your grandson with school projects. Take care my friend. ×------× 💜
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to hear your community is rolling out the vaccine. Unfortunately it is quite slow here. I love seeing your ideas of darling gifts to cheer your neighbors. I'm sure your acts of kindness will be met with happiness.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful makes. Isn't it heartening to hear how quickly the vaccinations are being rolled out.
ReplyDeleteYour doorstep gifts are lovely, what a kind thing to do to lift spirits and I'm sure they will make everyone smile:)
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteTHis is such a great thing to do! I love the idea of tending to each other.
ReplyDeleteThe church project is great! I'm sure they will be appreciated by those who receive them. Such sweet things.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people need to be cheered up these days.
Your projects are so wonderful and will be so appreciated by all who receive them. Stay warm and safe.
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to find a little something on my doorstep. Such a lovely idea. Have a lovely week x
ReplyDeleteI don't like snow either ! It's nice to see it in untouched places but on streets it looks dirty ! You had a very creative time wonderful ! and it keeps busy ! Wow you are far with vaccination ! Here they started with the retirement homes, and the medical stuff, but it goes rather slow ! It's always the same because of the two languages in a mini country !
ReplyDeleteThose little doorstep gifts are a wonderful way to lift spirits and yours are delightful to see, Lorraine. We will be able to register for the vaccine in our state by the end of this week. And one day we hope to be able to travel to see family and friends who live out of state...small steps before the bigger ones.
ReplyDeleteYour gift bags are sure to lift spirits and bring joy both to the giver and the receiver.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
You are such a thoughtful and generous neighbor, you're an inspiration! Our neighbors are all down long driveways so doing something like that wouldn't be easy here. I love the idea of the clothes pin magnets! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great. Such small gifts are wonderful ...
ReplyDeleteI give cakes to the neighbors when I bake :-))
It is nice to give something away and it is nice to get something too.
Good week Viola
Love it all! Your paperclips turned out so nice! Glad I could inspire you and cheer others up.
ReplyDeletehope you get the vaccine soon! It's a bit slow going over here. I love all the crafts you make and what inspires you to make them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crafts. Door gifts and paper clips will surely bring cheers to the receivers.
ReplyDeleteI love all your creations, you always seem to be so productive!
ReplyDeleteLove all your sweet crafts!! i love how you decorated those sweet clothes pins!! really pretty!! I am like you where I am perfectly happy staying home.I only venture out once a month to get a hair cut and I am good with that...Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and to visit for a bit and then for letting me know that you did by leaving such a kind comment!! i truly do appreciate it!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Deb
