Thank You

Thank you so much for all your comments and emails with suggestions for the books it was wonderful to hear from you all.  I actually phoned a couple of local care homes yesterday who will be delighted to take the books.  I have also sorted out several jigsaws I just need to check that they are all complete before I take them.  I am thrilled that a home has been found for both the books and jigsaws.  It leaves me with an easy mind.  It didn't sit well with me taking them to landfill so I am thrilled an alternative was found.

Once again many thanks.

See you soon.

  2. That's really good news. We're going to a town with a charity bookshop so I'll drop my books off there.

  9. I am so glad you found a good place for your books! Here in Montreal, senior's homes and care facilities are happy to take them, as well as local libraries.

  10. SO glad you found a happy home for your books! I don't think I would be able to even think about taking them to the tip. We have a number of aged homes in our town that are happy to take books and we also have three or four Free Little Libraries set up around the area for book exchanges. Hope the sorting and packing is going well.

  11. Oh thats a great idea, it would have been a terrible waste going to landfill but when you have a house move and things to sort out you just need them out of the way, so that was a timely solution for you! I'm sure all the books and puzzles will be enjoyed during these cold days! Good luck with all the moving preparations.

  13. Check Pinterest for ideas for using old puzzles. Lots of folks create with puzzle pieces and they don't care if a puzzle is complete or not.

  14. Funny story, I sorted out some books to take to charity and when I went in they said 'No thanks' as I trudged back to the car I saw sign outside a second hand book shop that said books bought and sold. In the end I walked away with £8.00 in my pocket! Anyway I am glad they found a home. I have been following your box adventures but have not been commenting as I am blogging on my phone and it is hard to type, suffice to say, chin up Mama and keep packing!!! Jo x

  15. I've always taken mine to local libraries and they are happy to receive them. They will usually share them between their branches or use them for a book sale. I love books so much but every so often I have to filter them out :-) Hope everything is going well otherwise and everyone stays healthy!

    Blessings

  18. Hello mama, sorry I am late, catching up again. Your comments about taking photos of the children’s artwork is such a good idea. I still have boxes of drawings and paintings my girls did when they were little, cards they gave me, and school reports. Your comment about “the little things that make you and not changing now, and don’t really want to and things that have been bought for you” really rang true to me. I had a HUGE box full of greetings cards from family and friends over the years. I whittled it down to pretty/funny/sentimental and milestone birthdays but I can’t part with them. After my last house move 8 years ago I vowed I would never hoard so much stuff again, and so far I have been quite good. I’m glad you sorted an alternative for the books. We are planning to decorate our family room which means de-cluttering two floor to ceiling shelves of books! Our charity shops take them, but I only take a few at a time :-)
